AI Makes Video Content Easier… But At What Cost to Trust?

As some of you may know, I've been researching several topics lately. One is AI and the other is Youtube. I started to post regularly there but I'm still searching my voice and niche. When I'm on youtube, my algorithm tends to show me everything related to AI and how to generate content with AI. This is obviously not ok on Hive but on other platforms like Youtube, Tiktok or even Instagram, the feed is flooded with AI generated content.

With AI you can generate fully automated Videos but it has a cost...

There are a lot of advantages in generating content with AI, especially video content. You can hide behind an avatar or a faceless channel, you can use AI voiceovers or lip synchronization to generate content without needing a camera, a setting or a microphone. Especially for people who maybe don't speak English perfectly, this can be an entry point to create content on youtube but in the context of how AI content is spreading, this brings up some other questions.

If AI can automate whole videos and take content from others and copy it, how does this content differentiate itself? How can a content creator build trust in such an environment?

In this video I show you three little AI generated scenes and I would simply like that you watch them and look at how it makes you feel... In my opinion, AI content has a price and it comes in the form of loss of trust. Especially, if you plan to build a youtube channel and monetize your audience, the one important factor for your channel to evolve and to generate income is trust. I believe that it's important to draw a line and decide how much AI we want to implement and what trust costs we are willing to pay...

What do you think about this topic? How do you feel about AI generated content?

At some point in the future, it is most likely that all original content will have some kind of tamper proof watermarking to indicate that is non-AI generated.

I agree with your outlook. There needs to be a line, and AI can be quite useful. There still needs to be things done to guarantee that it isn't all AI. I don't think AI is good enough yet, but it can get you on the right track.

I believe that we can only build up trust with real people and I think in the long run this will be a differentiater.

Sometimes, I do find it hard to differentiate between human and AI video content, the latter is getting good by the day but eventually and for individuals wanting to build trust and relatableness, using AI to broadly replace the work they do will not work out for them as they expect. AI, at least for now, lacks life.

Exactly, you can almost reproduce the reality but one glitch will show your audience that it's an avatar and not yourself. I'm not sure everybody feels that good about such things...

AI can make video creation easier, but it’s true that too much use might make people trust content less.

For some memes and funny videos, I accept an AI creation, but if I want to listen to a lecture, a podcast or follow a blogger, I want it to be that person.
Because if it's not a person personally (eg, Achim Beda 🙂), I don't want to look at AI, because then it can be anyone with knowledge of working in AI tools.

In the end, with the third version I would feel cheated, and as your avatar, I would prefer to accept the second (animated) version, with which you successfully hide your identity, but make it clear that you are an AI.

That's a very good point. I believe that we want to know who is talking to us. If we see a manga character we know it's ai. With something that resembles us, we might feel cheated and the loss of trust is quite high I believe.

I never wanted to use AI to generate YouTube videos. I have experience with AdSense advertising: I had a portfolio of domains on which AdSense ads were displayed, which worked very well for some time.
It's a little different, but if I had to evaluate it, I would say that it's now similar to having a content farm and advertising on it.

You are not wrong. We are again at one of these times in history where there is a technological shift and a new technology that is in but things are very volatile and fast evolving.
