I Love Mini to Huge Jungles Everywhere in Malaysia / マレーシアのどこでもジャングルがツボすぎる

I’m in Malaysia to attend Hive Fest, and I found myself wondering why just looking around here makes me feel so happy.

Maybe it’s because I grew up in Tokyo—I’ve always loved the sight of skyscrapers and the feeling of driving through a dense city center. But what fascinates me even more here are the tropical trees that pop up unexpectedly between buildings, or the lush, overgrown balconies and rooftops that look like mini jungles scattered across the city. I think that mix of urban structure and wild greenery is exactly what strikes a chord with me.

This morning, I noticed that on one of the hotel’s mid-level terraces, there were indoor ornamental plants placed outside. I caught myself thinking, “Wait, aren’t those rental plants? Maybe the staff are plant lovers!” — and that simple thought instantly made me smile.

Even in the super central Kuala Lumpur, there are surprisingly large green spaces. As a visitor, I can only hope—perhaps a bit selfishly—that as development continues, these beautiful patches of greenery will be preserved.

Having four seasons and watching the leaves change color in autumn is wonderful, but so is this constant sense of tropical life. It makes me think once again—maybe living across multiple places is what truly feels right for me (with of course plants!).

Yesterday morning, I went to help packing goodie bags for @chainculture, a collaborative event happening alongside Hive Fest. And tonight is finally the opening party!

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone I usually see each other on the blockchain, this time in real life ☺️

Hive Festに参加するためにマレーシアに来ています。マレーシアって景色を見ているだけで楽しくてなんでだろうと考えていました。

私は東京育ちということもあってか、超高層ビルを眺めたり、高層ビル街を車で走って都会を感じるのが大好きです。さらに、超高層ビルの合間、家々の合間に熱帯の木がひょこっと生えていたり、バルコニーや屋上が異様にもこもこと緑だったり、ミニジャングルがそこここにあるのが多分ツボなのだと思います。

今朝なんて、ホテルの中層階の屋外に、普段はホテルの屋内で飾られているであろう観葉植物が外に出してあるのを見て、「え、レンタル植物じゃないの！？」「植物好きな人たちなのかな」などと考え始めて朝からものすごく癒されました。

首都クアラルンプールの街中にはぼこっと緑の大きな区画もあって、今後開発が進んでも、こういう緑のところが残ってくれるといいなと、遊びに来ている外国人の私は無責任に願ってしまうのでした。

四季があって秋冬に紅葉したり葉が落ちたりするのも良いですが、こういうジャングルも良いですね。やっぱり多拠点がいいななんて思うのでした。

昨日は午前中にHive FestとコラボイベントのChain Cultureの参加者向けのバッグの袋詰めのお手伝いをして、今日の夜はいよいよオープニングです。普段ブロックチェーン上ですれ違うみなさんとリアルで会えるのが楽しみです。
