#SublimeSunday - Beautiful Autumn

Sometimes, a Sunday needs to be as little as possible and peak during a nice late fall stroll. That's when I slow down, take a couple pics and share them for #SublimeSunday inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday initiated by @ace108.
To end this week, I am caught up on my honeydo list and enjoying one of the fleeting days of mild weather.

Nice Weather We Are Having!
I am not much for small talk but that might be the icebreaker I would use on a day like this. Partly cloudy and a high of 9 Celsius is about as good as it gets during November up in this part of Canada. Some trees have surrendered their leaves while others hold fast and haven't even had them turn colour on my street.
Looking south out my front door shows me plenty of cars indicating that many others are having a lazy Sunday indoors too. Perhaps even starting their hibernation early. On thing I have come to learn about this town is that so many garages are used as storage, cars often spend the cold nights on the driveway instead even when the snow starts to fly. So glad ours fit indoors so we don't have to scrape snow and frost later in the year.
Looking west, the grass is still green which it tends to be until the snow flies and sometimes beyond. You can see I have a raking job that I have been avoiding. Looks messy but I don't like doing a job more times than needed and there are so many more leaves to fall. Plus, I know that many insects and animals use that as a place to live over the winter and I refuse to clean them up totally for cosmetic reasons. I will thin them out a little in a couple weeks and hope many blow onto the neighbours yards! ;)

Dog Wars
If you asked a certain fuzzyface, he would tell you Sundays are for dog wars and wouldn't be as beautiful without a romp in the park. The sun is setting earlier as the days march toward winter which means after work walks are becoming darker. He doesn't care all that much except there are fewer other dogs to wrestle with after the sun sets. Today, however, there are a bunch to chase and grapple as many dog owners are of the same mind to take advantage of the fleeting mild weather.
Besides the trail running and brawling, he definitely comes here for the water. The shitty muddy swampy stinky water. In the back area of the park are trails that are great to walk on. This one loves to sprint along them, comb the forest for whatever he is hunting for, and jump right in this mess no matter what the season is. This season, if he doesn't screw around in the muddy areas, he actually comes out cleaner than when he went in muddy. Not fantastic smelling though and he requires regular baths.
20 paces along the path from stink river looms Birdhouse Tree. I love to take a picture from its feet when I can remember and it is looking rather barren today on the left. Amazing the difference a week makes as just before Halloween, there were still plenty of changing leaves and blue skies. I hope to catch a shot like this with snow on the house and branches so I can create a 4-season version of this picture.
There is another bird house along the path I like to visit and it appears to be packed up in preparation for the oncoming winter. I have never really seen birds of animals here but it does seem to be filled with leaves and bedding. Do I clear it out so that a new young family can find it in the spring or just leave it alone in case something survives the winter here?
Back in the main park area, the next wave of dogs and owners have punched in for their shift. The clouds broke a little to permit some late afternoon sun to cast some last cool shadows.

Back at Home
Back home after well over an hour, the sun is in the sky where it would be maybe 8:30 PM in August. This is maybe 4:30 today and 3:00 in the middle of January when the sun sets before 5pm. Still warm and wonderful compared to that and our little maple is defiantly clinging on to its leaves.
Even the nasturtiums that get the warm evening sun are showing the last of their blooms. Fantastic climbing colourful flowers that are edible as well.
Another great thing about them is that, although they are an annual, they drop many seeds in order to grow again next year. Additionally, you will only have to buy 1 pack of seeds if you harvest some of them in the fall for planting in different places in your garden.
To Rake or not to rake. That is the question on this #sublime Sunday.

Autumn will be around for a few more weeks and before having everyone wondering whether or not it will be a white Christmas. The winds will cool and the rain will fall but there will be plenty of time to spend out doors before the snow falls and stays. Until then, it is like a gift to be shared with others around the globe experiencing their own #beautifulsunday.

Thanks for sharing. !PIZZA
As much as I love summer and warm weather, I do love the slow burn and transition to winter. These days are like a gift.

The weather looks nice
Plants grow well in this season
Interesting description of your autumn stroll. It sounds like you had a wonderful time, and I can almost feel the crisp air and see the colorful leaves as I read your words.
To rake or not to rake is like whether to do the housework on Sunday.
For me, there is no choice. That's the only day.
Seems like such a futile endeavour to take organic material off the ground, wrap it in a container and have it put somewhere else where it won't be a home for beneficial insects or decompose and fertilize the ground!
That is also the lazy speaking.
Autumn weather, it is this type of weather I always prefer most
Looking real nice there still. I heard back in Michigan they had snow that stuck around for a bit!
A couple frosty evenings and snow in isolated places in the area for sure. Before long I will be shovelling it I bet!
