My May

Come to Ukraine in May. Honestly, it is the most beautiful season. And not just because my birthday is in May :D

The weather is nice and warm, and colours are rich. Spring does not care about war, instead, it gives you a reason to smile. A reason for feeling alive again, for renewal.

I took these photos on my walk today. Look at these chesnut bloom, isn't is beautiful? BTW, chesnut is a symbol of Kyiv. All this young greenery, bugs and flowers, blooming trees and birds singing bring you joy. The best season if the year.

This spring I feel finally awaken. Probably, I have to thank my girlfriend for my Spanish break. It is difficult for her to be alone in a foreign country. But there is so much life in her, so much positive energy, that a part of this vibes was unwittingly passed on to me.

My life during the war has finally settled into a routine. Night and day shelling, constant news monitoring, my husband's combat missions, regular contact with fellow soldiers — it's become the new normal.

These sweet little dandelion puffs are growing just across the street from the building hit by a Russian drone yesterday. I walked past it today. A five-storey apartment block where people live. A mother and her son, who lived on the top floor, were killed.

The hole in the facade and the shattered windows have already been boarded up with fibreboards.

And right next to that place, a chestnut tree is in full bloom — so beautiful. As George Carlin said, the planet will be fine...

For the first time in a long while, I can see a future ahead of me. Not the one you ever dreamed of or planned for — but it is there.

We are still standing, despite everything. Victory will belong to the one who endures just one day longer.

By the way, does anyone know what kind of tree/bush is this?

I can finally feel a future for you as well, it may still be uncertain, but it definitely looks a lot brighter than a few months ago. Hold on tight!! Maybe your birthday wish will come true this year.

Literally so. I feel like getting rid of my old gloomy clothes and buying something girly and bright.

Thanks a million! It turned out to be a fascinating plant. Not common for Kyiv but grows in the south.

Stay safe. Your, your husband, and everyone you know. I can't imagine the stress.
