Concept for Splinterlands and HIVE Collaborative Booth at Gaming Conventions
Disclaimer:
This is just a loose concept and is not intended to have all of the issues worked out.
Objective:
To enhance user onboarding for both @splinterlands and the HIVE blockchain by leveraging gaming conventions as platforms for direct engagement and promotion.
Funding Proposal:
- DHF Proposal: The @sps.dao should initiate a Decentralized Hive Funding (DHF) proposal to allocate funds for booth rental, promotional materials, and operational costs at various gaming and pop culture conventions.
Booth Setup and Operations:
- Joint Representation: Representatives from both @sps.dao and HIVE stakeholders will manage the booth, ensuring expertise and enthusiasm from both communities.
- Interactive Onboarding: The booth will feature:
- Promo Card Distribution: Attendees receive Splinterlands promo cards with unique redeemable IDs, similar to the Spellbook promo cards. These could be used for gameplay or as collectibles.
- Spin-to-Win Wheels:
- Pack Vouchers Wheel: Offers chances to win various numbers of pack vouchers from a pre-allocated pool.
- HIVE Rewards Wheel: Provides opportunities to win HIVE, HP, or HBD, with an option for a free HIVE account setup.
Promotional Items and Incentives:
- Exclusive Event Cards: Each convention could feature a unique, limited-edition card. These cards would only be available at the event or for purchase with DEC, enhancing their scarcity and value.
- Additional Assets: Include spins for land plots, Runi, land totems, or other Splinterlands assets, potentially sourced from existing burn mechanisms or special allocations.
- Unique Titles: Offer special titles for sale or through the wheel, adding another layer of exclusivity and engagement.
Marketing and Presentation:
- Stage Presentations: Secure slots at convention stages for presentations on Splinterlands and HIVE. This would not only showcase the games and blockchain but also attract a broader audience within the convention.

I am glad to see we are all thinking similarly, but I had no idea that he had just talked about a similar idea. I do think that we, as a community, may have discussed some variations of this concept on discord, but I wanted to get something out there that kind of rolled up the ideas.

I think the main ingredient we need to figure out is what is going to make people come into our booth and spend some time there learning about SL or Hive. There are tons of booths set up at these shows, and folks aren’t going to just pile in for a game they have never heard of. We need a reason for folks to want to pile in before the show even starts. I think I have one way. I’ll be popping up a detailed post this week laying out how I believe we could see success at a show like this. Hope you guys will all check it out once up and offer up opinions.

But I asked you. I do not even know @zaku and they did not downvote me for what seems to be no reason at all, but my assumption is that you may have done similar to them in the past and they know what the chip on your shoulder is and you are sending me to them to further punish them for something they did long ago.
It is not a very good representation of personal character to answer a direct and honest question with a clear deflection, when you could just answer my question with the same or just a tiny bit more effort.
Did I do something that is deserving of a downvote or are you just trying to discourage users from posting on HIVE and have them move to some place like nostr to spend their time and effort creating content and bringing value to an ecosystem?
I would think that you would want to encourage as many users to stay on HIVE as you can, considering you seem to want to see HIVE moon, based on your stake and content.
Downvoting a users content, especially when they have just started to produce it recently, is a good way to turn them off to providing any future value or content to the somewhat struggling HIVE ecosystem. It is even worse if it is coming from a witness and without comment or explanation, even after being asked politely for a general explanation as to why the content deserved a downvote.
I am not part of any HIVE war, that I am aware of, and I am trying to produce content that I feel would be beneficial to both HIVE and Splinterlands as a whole. I am not posting random and somewhat redundant content, I am trying to post quality, thoughtful content that expresses ideas and innovation.
I find it hard to believe that someone that I do not know in any context other than this specific interaction would come to intentionally try to discourage me for anything I have put out, especially someone who seems to be well empowered and invested in the HIVE ecosystem. I would think that you would want to do the exact opposite and let me know how I could improve my content moving forward to better engage on the HIVE chain.
I do not even really care about the tiny impact on the rewards for the post, I just want to know how I became a target of downvoting, which is not typically an activity that many well intentioned actors do without good reasoning.

I had exactly the same issue on two of my posts, so I also asked zaku, he was kind enough to explain, long story short, it's a whale war things, with one disagreeing with the upvotes of the other or didn't agree with the behaviour of the other, nothing personal to you.
Thanks for your reply on this, my main issue is not the fact that I was downvoted, because that is just a mechanic of the system, it was that I thought that I had done something that may have warranted my content to be downvoted and I wanted to know what I could do better.
I just find the deflection and not voting based on the merit of the content to be amateurish and counterproductive to encouraging users to produce good content for the chain and ecosystem.
I am over it, thing will be how they are, but I hope that the community would try to engage in more constructive and welcoming interactions to better HIVE. It seems that the witness engaged in this war thinks that this is what they are doing, but I am not sure the people watching it play out would agree.

I absolutely understand that, but we may not always be in the same financial position we are in as a community. I would also think it may be a good move for the DAO to position itself to have a much larger percentage of the value in its control into SWAP.BTC or BTC on chain with the potential upsides that may be seen in the coming months, but that is a whole different discussion.
I think there have already been several discussions on yield options too, but there may be some moves that could be made to reposition things slightly or drastically and secure a better long term outlook on the value available to allocate to something along these lines.
There could also be some promo or asset sale commissioned by the DAO that could be sold exclusively in non-splinterlands assets, such as HBD/BTC/USDC/USDT or similar. This might also be earmarked for some specific allocations as part of the commissioning, but that is playing with future money and would be sourced from the existing player base, which might be like trying to get water out of a rock.
This should absolutely be something both DAOs can get behind. We need to take our partnership to the next level.
Though some may not like it, I believe Invennium should also be involved as they offer a way to onboard web2 games quite easily.
Marketing is always a good thing if you have extra $ to spend. But I think marketing HIVE and Splinterlands would have been way more effective if both were on major USA exchanges - ideally on Coinbase. Instead of a booth the marketing dollars could be spent advertising a coming HIVE and SPS listing on Coinbase. Once the tokens pump on the listing marketing via booth could be done with less tokens and with more effect.
