Social Media scare

The recent events in the Middles East in the current war situation is creating lot of panic. I am based in Oman, and here everything is very peaceful, but still there is some or the other news on social media mentioning about attacks and what not and creating scare. My family back home, they all feel worried, and daily they keep checking on me if everything is ok with me and hubby. I have some friends back in Dubai and there also the situation is not very good. Dubai has been witnessing some impact of the war, but the way it's shown on social media is very scary.

I remember many years back I had planned a travel to Egypt, and that time there was some unrest in Egypt. In news what they were showing was really scary, and everyone advised us not to travel. We still went ahead, and when we reached there absolutely everything was fine and we had a great holiday. I am not saying it's the same situation right now. For sure things are not ok, but the problem is everyone has become a content creator these days and so much of information is spread out without any validation of the information. Yesterday there was some news on bomb drops in Oman, and my mom was extremely worried. She insisted that I travel back to India for sometime. In reality nothing has happened in Oman.

Especially for old people these kind of news are worrisome and they do not know how to process and deal with it. One of my aunt she is 82 years old and her son is living in Singapore, now there is no problem in that part of the world, but yet she is so scared to travel. Morning she called me up to check on me and she was talking about WWIII and what not.

So much of different types of information is coming up these days for Middle East. That's right that till date it was considered to be one of the safest regions in the world, but it is no more with the current turn of events. But then what I feel is we must not believe everything we see on social media these days. Till last week it was all about Epstein files and then suddenly that has gone completely out of picture and now it's the war story.

There is a big problem right now and there is no denial of that, but responsible reporting will help the common people in many ways. As it is right now there are some regions in Middle East whose airspace is completely shut down for safety reasons. Thousands of people are stuck up, and they deserve respect with right information and not news which creates more anxiety for them.

On a different note, I am wondering what's happened to the Epstein files, they have suddenly gone in to thin air. All the big names were coming out and then suddenly the war started and it all become quiet on the files. Is there some game behind this because all the top names were coming up and suddenly the whole focus has been shifted.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I was reflecting on something similar these past few days, about how information is sometimes passed along without any real basis in truth, sometimes just unfounded opinions or words shaped by media influence or even by social networks themselves. I was thinking about how we are influenced from many different directions and how dangerous that can be. Anyway, maybe the best way to find reliable information is still through major media outlets. The internet is good in many ways, but misinformation brings many negative impacts.

I hope this turbulent time in the world will be brief

The problem is some people think they are supporting and creating awareness by spreading information. Some times it's best to not know everything. Not in this case but otherwise

You’re absolutely right about responsible reporting. When airspaces close or travel gets disrupted, people need clear, factual information, not dramatic framing that increases anxiety for families already worried about loved ones abroad.
