Mi Smart Space Heater S - Unboxing & Personal review

Hello, everyone!

January was particularly cold in Lisbon. Although the outside temperatures didn't drop below zero degrees, the nights were quite cold. I'm not one of those people who needs to have the house constantly heated, nor do I have air conditioning installed. When the days get colder, I end up putting on thicker socks and another sweater, and if I'm watching a series, I put a blanket over my legs.

But we all know how uncomfortable and impractical it is to be at home and feel uncomfortable in the cold.

I used to have a heater, a portable thermo-ventilator, from a good brand called Ufesa, which lasted me many, many years. It came from my parents' house. That's what I had to warm my feet when I was in my room at the computer or studying at my desk. This heater had two modes, one that only used 1200W and the second with 2400W. One of the resistors was no longer working, so I could only take advantage of one of the heating levels. It wasn't very noisy, and its operation was quite simple. The cold air inside the heater entered through a large opening at the top, and through an internal motor that activated a fan, it was led past the heating element located at the front, thus heating the air and projecting it one or two meters. To heat our feet, we had to be about a meter away to notice the difference.

After this equipment was switched on, in around half an hour to forty-five minutes, the small room would have a significantly higher ambient temperature.

But apart from the heater's marked energy inefficiency, it was no longer at all what I needed to give me the comfort we should have at home.

In conversation with my friend pardinus, and after staying at my compadre's house, where he has a Xiaomi heater, I decided to get one too. I ended up buying it from a Portuguese online store, located in the North of Portugal, which had a much better price with shipping included than from Xiaomi's own physical store, or even from the online store.

The order arrived quickly and in good order!

I hurried to open the packaging and take out the elements that needed a little assembly. Basically, screwing on the support legs of the heating unit. Once assembled, it was practically ready for use.

This type of equipment comes with a home Wi-Fi connectivity feature, which allows you to access more advanced features when connected to the same network, using any cell phone or tablet. All you have to do is install the Xiaomi Home app from Google Play (in my case, I have an Android system), and you're good to go!

And now I'm going to talk a bit about the features of this device and why they make it an excellent economical option, with low consumption, and even in terms of design!

The inclusion of a thermostat that keeps the room temperature stable is a huge advantage. The previous device only had a thermostat, but it wasn't connected to a sensor and only gave feedback on the temperature of the device's heating element. On the Xiaomi Space Heater S we can choose to keep the room temperature at 18/20/22/24/26 and 28ºC! You can also choose a timer with four set periods: 1/3/5 and 9 hours, but you can also set daily time periods when you want the heater to work via the app.

So far so good, don't you think? 🤓

Its heating system allows it to be conducted by convection, avoiding noise and leading to a constant and comfortable warm breeze that can be felt throughout the room.

This appliance cost €99.89 and for now I think it's the best choice I've made, both in terms of heating comfort at home and in terms of saving electricity consumption, because due to its heat conduction system, and the maintenance of room temperature, it prevents temperature fluctuations, with higher energy consumption.

If you want and are thinking of buying a heating system for your home, and you don't have air conditioning, or the room to be heated isn't very big, I think this is an excellent option. Of course, if you have considerations about this type of appliance being connected, even on its own network, to your home internet network, it can be used without this functionality.

It's fantastic to be in bed, with the device on, and when you're about to fall asleep, with a simple tap on the app, you turn it off and let yourself go to the land of Morpheus!

My next home device it will be a air dehumidifier. I have a lot of air humidity, specially in the rainy months. If you wanna drop some good references, please go ahead 😊
Have a great weekend, my friend!

We can sell you ours for half price. We won't be needing it in Madeira. ☺️

Yes, in Madeira all you need is a good rain coat for the colder days, and not such warm clothes 😅
