Tyred but not scrimping!

I may be a bit of a tightwad but one thing i'm not prepared to scrimp on is new tyres for my car, when I need them!

And that would be now....

My rear tyres came back as 65% worn from my September MOT, and i've put around 5K miles on them since then, which is about right for them being in need of replacing. The treads just about pass the '20 pence' test, but only just, the outer treads are about at their limit anyways.

So I've taken them as far as they can go, and TBH that's maybe not the best idea, I mean I know stopping time is reduced for more worn tyres, so I was pushing these a little....

One of the more expensive options...

I'm going for a set of Continentals, one of the more expensive tyres.

Screenshot 2025-02-26 at 21.08.31.png

However they are the only all season variety in that row and have great weather and fuel efficiency, and should last me, apparently, around 30-40K miles, which is pretty staggering given the level of abuse tyres get.

I went for your basic Kwik-fit option, it's about as cheap as you can get and the local reviews were just fine...

I did just read somewhere that you can swap your back and front wheels to equalise the wear and tear, as front wheels burn out twice as fast as 'passive' rear tyres, but that just seems unnecessary...

I'll just head back in a few months when I need my front tyres changing, it's not as if it's something I have to do that often, after all!

So around £185 with a small discount, and I can't imagine it's going to take them that long.

I am kind of left wondering... how many people swap their wheels/ tyres every summer and winter, I can't see why else you would have summer tyres, it's not as if yer gonna drive 20-40K in 6 months...?!?

Just get the shit tyres, expensive ones pop just as quick if an unlucky nail gets them.

I don't think you need winter tyres unless you expect the roads to get really bad. When I lived in the Black Forest people did it there, but then they would expect snow.

People used to talk about rotating your tyres, i.e. shift them all round the car clockwise (or opposite), but then I've seen stuff saying it's not so good to spin them in the opposite way they have done previously.

As with a lot of things I often go with the second level option as the most expensive may not offer much benefit. Son had to get some tyres for the MG4 EV after a year, but then those cars are pretty heavy and will burn through tyres, especially if you make use of the extra torque.

There's a lot more to it than I thought! I certainly won't be rotating them! Maybe I should have just gone for a cheaper option I dunno! I could potentially end up driving around country lanes in snow so I dunno!

You would hope that all tyres are decent these days, but they vary a lot in price. I think Which review various brands, but I've not looked lately. I guess they cost pennies per mile, so you will spend much more on fuel anyway. Drive safely.

You claim some people are "beyond hope" and that you’re not wasting any more time on us. Yet here your good friend @jacobtothe continues to downvote the truth instead of addressing the systemic abuse we’ve exposed. If you truly cared about making Hive better, you’d stop enabling corruption and start working toward solutions—instead of adding to the problem by silencing dissent.

Let’s be clear: we wonder what drives you. You say you care about Hive, but your actions tell a different story. Instead of fixing the issues we’ve brought to light—like scam farms, coordinated downvotes, and unethical practices—you turn a blind eye and suppress those who speak out. Downvoting the truth doesn’t erase it; it only highlights your inability to confront uncomfortable realities.

It’s telling that Blocktrades has so much to lose if Hive collapses—and even more telling that your friends have openly joked about being the last ones to “turn off the lights” if it all goes south. These statements reveal far more than you realize. The connections between accounts like @themarkymark, BuildaWhale, Blocktrades, and Alpha aren’t just speculation—they’re becoming increasingly obvious to anyone paying attention.

At Bilpcoin, our mission is simple: to expose corruption and fight for accountability. What do you really contribute besides chatting with your old friends and obsessing over young women online? Your priorities seem misplaced when compared to the urgent need for reform on Hive.

We’ve asked you repeatedly to reflect on your actions because this fight is bigger than you think. Every downvote you cast against the truth only adds fuel to the fire, further eroding trust in the ecosystem. Transactions don’t lie, and neither do we. The evidence is there for anyone willing to see it—but will you finally open your eyes, or will you continue clinging to denial?

Sincerely,
The Bilpcoin Team
