Greetings Dear Readers;

.
Hope you are well.

What a lovely Principle ...Shall we give it a look?

'Integrity can only function when thought controls emotion.'

Let's have a look at the definitions of the words, 'Integrity' and 'Emotion'.

Integrity...definition...1.State or quality of being complete, undivided, unbroken; entirety. 2. Unimpaired state; soundness...
Synonym...unity, honesty

Emotion...definition...1. An agitation, strong feeling; any disturbance. 2. A departure from the normal calm of an organism of such nature as to include strong feeling, an impulse toward open action, and certain physical reactions; any one of the states designated as fear, anger, disgust, grief, joy, surprise, etc.
Synonym...feeling

If one compares these two definitions, one can see how emotion would/could hinder rational thought especially when one is under pressure.

Let's give this Principle a think...shall we?

.
Thank you for dropping by. ^__^

.
Wishing you and yours all the best,

Bleujay

.

Principles are timeless truths as relevant today as they were yesterday and will be tomorrow.

All for our ponderance.

I love posts that make us reflect. That's right!👏

Nothing better than some (perfect) images of nature to absorb all this reflection.

Wow! Such a big bundle of spring flowers! I could smell the freshness of these flowers too.

Yup! Emotion, even subtle emotion, could easily ruin my calmness and ‘wholeness’ and lead me to become illogical and desperate. Integrity, absolute integrity is very hard to attain!

Greetings @kaminchan ,

Yes...the freshness is the best part...of collecting flowers from the Garden. ^__^

Since we are humans...you are correct...'absolute Integrity is very hard to attain'....however with knowledge of this Principle...we may at least try to reach a calmer state of mind before making decisions....that could be later described as rash.

Thank you for opportunity to discuss the Principle.

Kind Regards to you and the Orange Cats,

Bleujay

NB Appreciate the reblog....thank you so much!

Very nice flowers with that color mix of yellow, orange and white! And I like your painting, too. Also your painting is really very beautiful, but the atmosphere is a little bit cooler as orange is replaced by some green.

'Integrity can only function when thought controls emotion.'

Probably right, but not always easy for us humans with all our strong feelings ... 🙂

Very kind of you to drop by....happy to hear you enjoyed the post.

You and I have a way....if we learn what the Bible says about these things.

...Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose thinking is stayed on Thee (God) and puts his trust in Him...(God)

...from the Bible...

You've given us some food for thought.
Heightened emotions can cloud our thoughts, influencing our decisions and actions. That's why we're often advised against making important decisions when we're angry or overly happy.

Your flowers are so beautiful, they caught my attention.

Daffodils and jonquils are two of the prettiest Springtime flowers that make a stunning appearance as shown in your post.

That is a beautiful watercolour painting you did and especially like the texture.🌼

Happy Sunday, bleujay!

Beautiful shot of the flower bouquet. I like the dark background as well as the well-light environment where the shot was taken from. Did you attempt to replicate the picture in the paintings you did?

Greetings @josediccus ,

Very kind of you to drop by.

Thank you for your lovely response to the 'Icing'.

Appreciate your kind query regarding the painting....no, I painted this painting at the first sight of daffs in the garden....so the Photographs of loads of daffs came later. There are photographs of my own ...that I do try to replicate in a painting...however the tip for doing that is to edit, edit , edit. ^__^

Wishing you well,

You're welcome. Yes I know they're your own photography, I was just trying to know if you made a painting of your own photography.

Thanks for the clarifications

The daffodils are beautiful both in your well-thought-out photos and in your watercolor, @bleujay!

As for the principle, I would add to this what sounds like "Be like children", but yes, children sometimes exaggerate something, like fishermen and hunters who think that their catch is bigger than it really is :)
The main thing is that there is no evil in the heart! :)
Have a blessed day!

I would say without fear of being wrong that I am a man of integrity, obviously like all humans the different circumstances of life influence me, but my sincere and loyal personality never disappears and will never disappear, the reason is that I like being that way.

I happen to think that lots of things function correctly when thought controls emotion, not just integrity. In relation to our understanding of that word integrity I do believe sometimes there can be conflicting meaning. As I understand it when we speak of integrity we are mostly talking about the quality of being honest and truthful.

But in essence I couldn't agree more with this principle. Emotions and feelings are very important and can never be discounted but they mustn't be allowed to disrupt or deceive our ability to think rationally.

But with that said I also happen to think that some of our greatest thoughts have emerged from cathartic moments in life. Us humans are often driven by emotion. I guess it's all about balance.

Lovely uplifting photos of your daffodils @bleujay but not as lovely as your watercolour painting.

Indeed balance....moderation in everything being the mantra.

I shall give your words a think...

Ah integrity. This is the word I was missing.

I live in a house of females and emotion seems to be at a frequency I just don't understand. These beings just seem to be a little more emotional than I am, and I am an emotional person. I focused upon logic and good decision making rather than integrity when it comes to diagnosing the issue and trying to help my little ones.

An emotion is an unchecked influencer when I consider it clinically for myself. If an impulse creates a reaction without thought, it is a wildcard as to whether it will be the right or most constructive reaction. So, I encouraged my chicks to be mindful that emotion, then engage that brain to widen the influencers of the decision before action, or reaction. When you add in Integrity, that just caps it off.

I often say, "I don't need to be right. I just want IT to be right." Maybe that is integrity?

Solid thoughtful thought!

Greetings @zekepickleman ,

What a lovely comment. So true!

Integrity is almost a lost word....let's reclaim it. As you say it 'caps it off'.

This line from your comment...

'I don't need to be right. I just want IT to be right." Maybe that is integrity?

...I would say...yes...a basic foundation of Integrity is humility. What is humility? The absence of self-absorption, self-deception, self-justification...the three Arrogance skills.

Well done!

Bleujay
