Piñata-IPFS building tools for Web3

avatar

Hello folks I am testing an online service called Pinata at the moment, which is an IPFS host with extra bells and whistles added. It can help integrate with Farcaster, which is an Ethereum based social media building platform - yes more things to have a look into, if I wish to do so.

My main use for this though is the Hive Sound Library project, I recorded a little voice memo on my phone yesterday, uploaded it to Pinata, the link is below for you to test - does it work? I think it loads rather quickly, which is good.

I can pin other files to my Pinata account, no matter where they may have been to begin with, currently, I've a raft of files on https://nft.storage, which is fine, they can stay there, after all that's what this tech is all about - distribution and decentralisation!

Ideally I'd love to build something like this because it just looks fantastic and comes with a host of other nice UI features too. It is hosted on IPFS and I found the Github repo for it but wasn't able to get it up and running. Anyone else willing to give it a go? Hop over to Github and see if you can fathom it out?

Nonetheless, I did build a NextyJS app yesterday that allows me to upload files to my IPFS store and pondered the possibility of creating something that would allow Hive users to login and upload sound files. Just a vague idea there but for now, I am looking at ways I could build sample packs, make it easy for people to audition them, pay with HBD and download their packs.

Very cool! I use NFT Storage a lot at my job, and we've been toying with a IPFS client that could let us do our own pinning.

Your file is working for me and loads pretty fast :)

Thanks for confirming that, I’m really impressed with the speed it loaded it at, so will keep going down this path. Your projects sound very interesting and I followed you back.

Appreciate it :)

So I've been out of the HIVE game the last 3 years, but 6 years ago was when I was actually active. Trying to learn all that's changed.

What is this pizza bot lol

Welcome back, when did I join? Might have been two years ago but can’t recall. So difficult to know what’s changed, maybe there are more apps for it now?

Pizza is a hive engine token, which you can issue to people a bit like a tip and they can be exchanged for Hive etc and can be staked. To be honest a lot of this stuff confuses my Gen X brain but there is a lot to like too.

Engagement is great and I tend to get responses quickly to posts.

Interesting. When I last used Hive, Hive Engine was pretty new. I played around with it, but the tokens didn't "do anything" yet, you could just create them.

I'll look into it more, thanks!

Hive is definitely more complicated than most social medias. My millennial brain likes it, but even most of my friends seem got overwhelmed by it.

I’m just using it to blog and use Actifit!

Interesting, I have not heard about Actifit, but it seems really cool. I love gamification, and gamifying health is always a great idea. I'll definitely check that out
