The SEO battle continues....
So I've been plugging away at updating the old main blog and I've seen a modest increase in traffic, and ad revenue, which is pleasing..
Nothing ground breaking, nothing life-changing in terms of the increase in income, maybe just enough to make me think I can scrape through 2026 with only 2 days of regular paid work, maybe.
It's sort of difficult to know with so many unknowns in the SEO world: especially in the age of AI and LLMs, or are they the same thing, I don't even know!
The general work flow...
Or lack of, I mean I have a work flow that's pretty simple, involving creating new content, updating old, doing all the technical stuff, there's no reason to employ anyone else to do this ATM, I quite enjoy it....
Except that I am a tiny bit slack, I start a bit too late, have a 2 hour run, shop and lunch break, and end a bit too early, it's hardly 5.00 a.m. club stuff here.....
Using AI...
It helps... I know what advice to ignore, I know what to use it for - it's great for making summary grids and FAQs also metadata and it does have a good grasp of long tail key words too.
For actual writing though I am much more cautious, it has a tendency to summarise too much if I ask for a rewrite - better for summaries to ADD to a post.
Videos cometh: human and non!
Part of that work flow involves creating videos - I want Tik Toks summarising tiny bits, 10 a week ideally, these can be just slides, but then I want longer tuitions style vids these feed into.... hopefully going live from January twice a week, I'm thinking 40 minutes a pop is like the sweet spot. Maybe 30 mins.
I mean that would help keep me sane and even teenagers can concentrate for 30 mins.
40 mins might be pushing things!
And fun!
At the end of the day I want to carry on enjoying the blog, I think I need to gamify it more, keep the video structure loose, two-way, and focus on visuals and pop sociology.
And I really MUST get around to making a dancing Durkheim.
I dream of starting a YouTube channel and collaborating with AI to create short historical videos. But I'm lazy, and I keep putting it off.
