100K Hive Power

It's been a while since I had any significant milestone to celebrate but I think that this one is worth a post.

It's been a while since the 50k mark.

100K HP

When I joined the chain all those years ago it was a real struggle to earn even 100 HP.

It was 2017, we were just heading towards the top of a bear market and the price was around the $1 mark.

The original site was so basic and clogged with spam that being seen by any account of note was next to impossible unless you joined a discord curation group, paid for a promotion account to bump you or commentated like hell on other people's content in the hope of being recognized.

Even at that I hadn't a clue what I was doing and spent months just trying to understand crypto, tokens exchanges and everything else going on around me.

It was still very early days back them before easy logins or hive keychain where every action was a struggle.

The chain and the tools have come on so much since then that the whole place is barely recognizable. Unfortunately we have lost a lots of great devs and users since those early days but we have also had a lot stick around for a long, long time.

I remember there used to be a thing called the minnow leagues and the red fish leagues for smaller users to stay active, grow their HP and connect with each other ran by abh12345 and paulag who helped so many new users find their footing.

Then there were the discord shows with crim and with kittygirl that brought people together and made it fun for noobs.

A lot of the people still here today were part of these groups and are the reason why we have a community at all.

So despite all of the issues and the drama and despite the fact my account is hardly profitable at the moment with the price I still love to turn up every week and read and post to the chain. See who is doing what and hope that we can break some new ground in 2026.

I've always said in my bio that I will be here until I can buy a private island or until it all goes down in flames and that still stands to this day. Even after eight years of showing up and posting I still love the place and want to see it be successful.

We have build so many cool sites and tools for the chain that it wouldn't take much to make that big breakthrough with a couple of good apps and a bit of recognition.

Now that I have hit what always felt like an impossible target back in those days there is nothing left for it but to go for 250K next and see how many years that will take.

At these prices I will try to keep buying small amounts consistently and I still have big hope that LEO and SPS are going to pump at some stage and speed up the process by a lot of time. Either way I'll continue to try and keep posting, engaging and growing my account every week.

Congratulations! It's quite admirable to see and learn the story of such a great veteran of this place, truly. Especially since I'm new here with just under two years and 2.5k HP. It sounds incredible to read that back then things weren't easy here at all, as you describe, and it gives me a pretty good idea just from my experience working on similar web3 platforms.

I feel quite fortunate reading about your experience and your beginnings, since getting my first 100 HP wasn't difficult at all when I started in 2024. Of course, I already had experience in the crypto world, as well as a defined niche as a content creator. But what I mean is that the information, the guides, and all the help I received when I started on Hive is a benefit that didn't exist back then, and that should be appreciated.

In my case, I could have started many years earlier, in 2021 when I first heard about Hive in a popular YouTube video on this side of the world. The problem was that the video didn't speak very highly of Hive, and that gave me an idea of what the platform was like, so I decided not to start and even ignored having lost access to my main account. But after several years, several falls and several disappointments in the crypto world, fate made me return here and I took advantage of the experience and knowledge I had to start all over again.

That's why I keep going like this, because Hive is still standing and that's valued much more than anyone thinks or believes.

Thank you so much for sharing your successes and your experience at Hive. You are a great role model.

It's been a great consistent space in the crypto world where as we all know it can be such an ever changing space.

Hive isn't perfect and has it's problems the same as any project but it's stood the test of time and continues to grow and develop despite years of bear markets and changing rules.

I'm glad that you made it back into the community and hope that you have a great experience here until you're doing a celebration post in a few years.

Yes, after a couple of years of hardship and personal experiences, I understood firsthand how unstable and changeable the crypto world is. Unfortunately, it still has a long way to go before it grows and becomes something that everyone can see and consume without problems or prejudices. And I believe that Hive is one of those hidden gems, one of those sleeping giants in this world that have the potential to go very far in the future. As long as it is maintained and projects continue to be developed and its communities grow, there is a greater chance that it will not disappear tomorrow.

I'm impressed! 100K HP is awesome! You're 210 at https://hivebuzz.me/ranking and will be top 200 with another 5% gain. You'll need to do a 6X for whalehood but I believe you could do it!

I got here the summer before you. The place was brand new, just a few months old. You couldn't even move tokens out of your wallet. Many thought it was all some sort of joke or con. But then the Fourth of July 2016 came and many tried to convert to fiat with elated success!

I had it easier than you. I was already a known blogger with over a million page views, and there was hardly anyone else here. But many came that summer and we were totally stunned as the token kept rising on CoinMarketCap. I think we made it to number 3 behind king Bitcoin and XRP before our market cap bell curve chart passed its point of inflection. What a ride!

So you started after me and at a harder time than me, and now you're beyond me in HP, and I am happy for you!

I'm happy for me, too. It's been an awesome experience. Here's to a great future together with great people in the awesome HIVE!

It's been a fun ride over all these years and i'm only sorry that i missed the very start of the chain. It's must have been great to be a true og of the space.

It was definitely a top 5 token at one point in the early days and i remember when SBD pumped over $7 for a while and it was printing money for anybody with tokens. Unfortunately I was a tiny minnow at the time and flying well under the radar.

It's nice to see that time and effort can change all of that and I hadn't checked the hive ranking in a long long time. Now to power up into the top 200 and keep going. Hopefully we see those crazy days again some time.

The fact that we have survived this far gives a lot of hope that one good app could bring in big numbers of users and a rise in the price.
