Getting to Know Me: A Glimpse into My Simple Life

Hello everyone! I’m excited to take a moment to share a little about myself.
My name is Lyka De Ocampo, 31 years old from the Philippines. I was born on April 14, 1994 at Dayap Nasugbu, Batangas. I’m 8 years married and have an 8 years old son. My family is living a simple life here in my birthplace. I am the second child in my family. My husband is a mango merchant, a business that he inherited from his father while I am a full time work from home mom that I really dreamed of before. My previous job was sales associate, waitress and a hotel cleaner, and my last job is cashier in a mall. I prefer to work remotely because I want to guide my son in his studies and have a lot of time with them. Being a full time mom with my side hustle, I am lucky enough to have this kind of set up because through this I can manage time attending in my son’s school activities that I couldn’t did before and I also have time to review his lessons before the exam.

My Family

This is my family. We are always together to celebrate life's joys and overcome its challenges. They are my strength during my weaknesses and they are the one who support me in every decision I made. Even we are not rich, we are contented for the blessings that we receive everyday.

God is the center of our family. Because we believe that nothing is impossible with God. God's love and principles are the one that holds our family together,giving us strength and unity.

One of the most important celebration of my family is my son's 7th birthday. My husband and I prepared a program for my son because it is his wish. We both work harder to earn a lot just to grant my son's wish. With the help of our parents we made it possible. I rent catering service to organize and decorate the reception and I also include clown to the program. We invite our relatives,friends and my son's classmate. I know that he really enjoyed this special day of his life.

Little King and Queen of Heart's is the first competition my son's was joined.He is in kindergarten during thia competition. At first,I was nervous because my child is shy when there are many people. But he proved that if others can, he can also. With the support of his classmate and my co-parents he've got an award. He crowned as "Darling of the Crowd". I am so proud of him even if it's his first time he still did his best.

This is our family outing last summer. It is one of the famous beach here in my hometown. It is done after the celebration of my cousin's graduation from Santiago City,Isabela. Her family visits us once a year so we cherish every moment that we are together. They are living in our ancestral house here in Batangas.

My Academic Journey
I graduated elementary in Dayap Elementary School, a public school in my home town. I was an honor student during my school days and finished it with flying colors that every student dreamed of. In highscool, I graduated in Dr. Crisogono B. Ermita Sr. Memorial National Highschool. They say that higschool life is the most enjoyable stage of being a student and for me it is really indeed. I studied college in Dr. Francisco L. Calingasan Memorial Foundation Inc. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish college because of lack of financial so I decided to find a job when I decided to stop. Even if I’m not on legal age to work, it never became hindrance to find a job.

I was lucky enough to found this community that was introduced by @antonette. I’m eager to learn from others, share my own perspectives and grow as a writer in a supportive environment.
