July Income Overview... Just getting by, for now!
So I've had the previous six months of 2025 - Jan to June on a pretty tasty full time wage, but now that is over and I am back to part-time regular working and only 2 days a week at that!
That doesn't bring me in too much regular income!
This is my income breakdown for the next few months as I see it...
Paid work....
Now standing at just under 50% of my monthly income, clearly I am now dependent on this once again!
I don't actually mind this too much, now I'm out of teaching and doing just regular work with perfectly reasonable employer and decent pension to boot, all fine!
Blog ads and revision sales....
My ad revenue has gone down over the last couple of years in line with my traffic, I think the ads have killed the traffic, and now I'm at a new low.
my plan here is to kill the ad contract once it's up for renewal in November this year and find a less intrusive ad company, and then hopefully my revision resource sales will increase.
But then all of the paid resources need an update.
Lots of work required here!
Hive and easy crypto draw down...
These are the amounts I'm prepared to take out on a monthly basis, they are small, actually below the tax threshold so no need to declare, but actually quite handy now given that my income is relatively low ATM.
Final thoughts...
I've got enough coming in to cover my outgoings, but only just.
The plan is to pile into it with the main blog and try and get some more revenue generated there, if that fails after a few months, then back to even more paid work.

Your analysis of income sources really shows the truth that a lot of people are dealing with in the current economy, particularly with how unpredictable online ad revenue can be.
I'm old enough to remember when life was easy.
It's all up and down that's for sure, mainly down!
Blog ads... That reminds me of my past. Do they really work nowadays? I stopped a decade ago when panda and pinguin kept changing Algo.
It feels like the revenue is trending downward, I'm gonna get out I think, so the short answer to do they work is probably no. You're better off leveraging your blog to do direct sales I think.

I liked your post to chip in $0.02 to your cause. Have you ever considered being a truck driver? 60-70 hours a week!
Oof, those are some long hours, too much working away from home for me, clashes with the fam, otherwise I wouldn't mind it!
Oh yeah. I'm looking for a different kind of job now just because trucking is too many hours.
I recently wrote a post about a new budget app that I made. Your post has given me ideas for some improvements.
I tend to focus more on outgoings and a "doomsday" countdown (anticipating the worst case scenario of zero new income) - and trying to accurately forecast every conceivable cost.
I never view any income as guaranteed, and since being retrenched a few weeks back, my wife is the solo bread winner until I find a new gig.
That's an interesting way of looking at it... I'm OK long term as I've got a teacher's pension that kicks in from 2033, not too far in the future, that'll go a long way to helping keep the money coming in!
I’ve got another thirty billion years (subjectively) before any sort of retirement accounts start to pay out. :P
