CNF 143: Standing Out.

Hello people, welcome to my blog.

Mr Tony is a gentleman loved by almost everyone in the community. He is a home boy who gives gift to people in the community and carries his family along in all he does. His presence is always felt in the community when he is around and so also is his absence.

Tony goes to town to work and he comes home once in a month usually by month end. He comes twice sometimes but these are rare occasions like during Christmas and Easter holiday or during one special occasion in the family.

His wife Sonia is a petty trader who sells her wares in a shop built in front of her husband's house. She sells a variety of things usually needed by almost all households in the neighborhood. Apart from buying things from her shop, Sonia shop serves as a charging boot for everyone in the neighborhood.

Tony and Sonia had three children, Peace the first daughter is an undergraduate at the federal university studying Law, the second child who is also the first son is also in the university studying engineering while the other two Emma and Meca were both in high school.

One can say the family is doing well for themselves and they are the talk of town in their community. Everybody in the community wants to associate with them either directly or indirectly. In the same community we have the Mirror family. Mr Mirror is an elderly man who minds his business but is not so respected in the community.

He was not respected because people regard him as the chief tenant. He had been living in two rooms in a public house for more than twenty years. He had all his five daughters in the same room and his wife does not waste time to disgrace him publicly whenever they have misunderstandings.

Despite all this, Mr Mirror respects himself even if his daughters do the opposite. Three out of The Mirror girls had returned home from failed marriages after having one child each and they all shared the two rooms in the public house together.

Beem is the fourth daughter of Mr Mirror. Beem is hell bent on making it big and stands out among his siblings. To achieve this aim, Beem looked for a way to move closer to the Tony's. What she does was to make herself available to be sent on errands whenever Mr Tony comes around.

As time goes by, Beem becomes a good friend to Victor, Mr Tony's first son. With the relationship already established she could gain entrance to their home at any time. While all of us will be changing our device outside Tony's compound, Beeny goes in to charge like the friend to the rich that she is.

Before long, Beem became with child. After a lot of questioning, she said the man responsible was Mr Usman, Mr Tony's colleague. Mr Mirror Beems father invited Mr Usman for conversation about The pregnancy and he said he was going to marry her the right way if the family will give him time.

After about three months, the marriage rites were completed and Beem moved in with her husband. Unlike what she expected, Mr Usman does not have enough money to throw around or impress people but he was able to provide basic things for Beem and their child. Beem tried using her mother's trick on her husband by calling him out in the community and the man gave her the beating of her life.

After going through hardship for over two years in marriage, Beem came to Mrs Tony for advice. She explained her reason for agreeing to marry Mr Usman to Mrs Tony and all Mrs Tony could do was just smile. In response, Mrs Tony said you see Beem all that glitters is not gold, you should have taken your time to study Mr Usman before getting married to him and you could have used the at period to equip yourself for the journey ahead either by learning a trade or vocation.

She continued by saying the deed has already been done, you are already married and with a child without a trade or vocation. As it is now, I will advise you to go back home and apologize to your husband Mr Usman and be patient with him. When you see that he has totally forgiven you, beg him to enroll you in a vocation of your choice.

Beem said mummy Peace I will not beg him, he is my husband and he works in the same company as your husband so he has money he just chose not to spend it on me and my family. Then Mrs Tony had to let the cat out of the bag by telling Beem the meaning of the idiom she used at the beginning of their conversation.

Mrs Tony said I am sorry to tell you but your husband is a driver in the company where my husband works and my husband is one of the directors so you don't expect them to earn the same amount. The time you two met at my house was when he was assigned to my husband as his personal driver.

After hearing all that Mrs Tony had to say, she had no option than to take the advice that was given to her. She went to learn tailoring from a fashion school around , she graduated after two years and started working from home first before she was able to get a store with the support of her husband Mr Usman.

Beem was able to support her parents and also stand as a living testimony to her siblings , her siblings learnt one vocation or the other and life became meaningful to them again.

Time tells a lot about something the problem most times is that we lack patience.

Moral lesson here is the need for patience, good things take time and all we need is patience.
