The News

I will start with my usual price chart that I generate from @coingecko with a little Python script.

Prices

$HIVE is inching upwards generally. So is 'the other coin', but with bigger swings. I really do not know why it still has any value. $HIVE has dropped a few places on the CoinGecko chart, but it has at least got back to what it was worth a year ago. Mind you, other coins have gone up a lot in that time, so things could be better. You can see that I vote up $HIVE to try and help it keep a good rating. I may vote down 'shitcoins'.

$HIVE history

There is a new effort to give the Hive music community a boost. We used to have the old Open Mic contest run by @luzcypher that had some prizes. This new one could offer much bigger prizes. We need to pull in more musicians who are not yet on Hive to make this viable, so spread the word amongst those you know. If each musician can bring in a few fans it could make Hive generally more active. Some musicians drifted away and we could try to bring them back. People have to decide which platforms are worth their time and I think Hive could be great for music. That means getting feedback (the good kind) as well as rewards.

I keep an eye on the Threads on InLeo and sometimes add my own. There is a thriving community in there. The guys on the Cryptomaniacs podcast are into it and do a 'Threadcast' for their shows that gets a lot of interaction. This is an under-exploited feature of Hive. InLeo is using some advertising to bring in extra income.

Friday Follows

  • There is a new project from @hivedocu to create quality documentaries about Hive. This could be great material to share around as people can react well to video.
  • The beetroot soup guys have a new project in @cbrsphilanthropy that looks to help out more people.
  • @nicklewis has been on Hive for a while. He is into making electronic music. He just posted that the transplanted kidney he got some time ago is failing and he will need another transplant.
  • For news around Hive check out @hiq.magazine.

The Doghouse

There are a couple of things I heard about this week. One was in a discussion with a Hive user who feels that they get less engagement since they needed to power down to pay for essentials. I think that Hive should be helping out those who need it. Not everyone can afford to invest lots of their money in this platform. I do not actually check the wallet of each person I interact with. What matters is the content they are producing. Does this affect who you engage with and support? I do not take it for granted that I will get votes for my comments or any sort of reciprocal support.

The other case was where someone is accusing a Hive-based game of misusing media such as NFT images that they obtained from elsewhere. I have not looked into all the licencing details of that, but if someone is expecting support from the Hive community then they know they will be scrutinised. You can see what the project says as well as their accuser. It feels like there is some bitterness from the latter, so maybe it is more of a personal issue, but decide for yourself.

The End

We are rushing towards the end of this year. I hope is a good one for you. Did you set targets and are you likely to achieve them?

I've been known to look at a wallet or two before I support some people. I like to know that people are at least trying to grow their accounts. I'm not saying they need to be dumping hundreds of dollars in, but if they are not powering up any rewards since they created their account, that might not be the kind of person we want here.

I don't think we can afford to be that choosy. We know that a lot of people quickly give up due to lack of support. You don't always know what the circumstances of that person are. They do need to be putting in some effort and not just leeching.

We don't know the circumstances, but we do know how committed they are to the platform based on their activity which is fully transparent. If they aren't powering up, commenting, or curating at least a little bit, they might not deserve my time.

I never fuss about someone powering down before voting or for that matter powering up. The only thing I care about usually is the post in question and the user themselves. I seem to have missed the drama this week. I usually have my finger on the pulse!

There's always drama if you look deep enough. It's human nature and Hive has all sorts.

I missed Nick's post abut his health, thanks for the prompt.
Personally I dont mind if people need to cash out sometimes but I'm not a fan of those who think they can drop a meh post ever day for a few bucks and treat Hive as an ATM

One crazy thing that annoys me is the rate at which other shitcoins pump but good coins like Hive don’t work that way
It hurts

If the price stays above 36 cents and the candles close, then we will see the price go up to 50 cents.

I never check peoples wallets, I really only engage with people with good content that I find interesting. I may not have a ton o HP being relatively new but I still feel I get decent engagement.

Sad to hear the bad news @nicklewis , I've not engaged him before but a liver transplant is not a fun thing. I really wish him the best!

Let's hope we can continue to see Hive creep its way up!

Hiya, Steve got it slightly wrong, common mistake, it’s my kidney not my liver that’s causing me trouble. Thanks for the kind comment, much appreciated.

I agree about not penalizing people who power down (or at least not on that basis alone). What good is HIVE as a way of funding one's creative endeavors if one never sells some of the tokens at some point? I used some of my first sale of HIVE to buy my drawing tablet, which in turn has been used to create content here... 😁

I've bought stuff with what I made here. In my case it was a luxury, but some people are paying their bills with it. Not everyone can afford to 'HODL' forever. We do need investors though. They need reasons to put their money in.

Thanks Steve for your support. Just one small correction, hehe, it’s my kidney not my liver 🙂

How much! It would have to do absolutely everything, not even Teenage Engineering are that badly priced compared to this!!

I don't interact based on wallet sizes, and totally get that some people do need to dip into their Hive earnings occasionally for numerous reasons. I'm glad that I'm able to power up my earnings and put some skin in the game of my own. I have the intention of using some of what I've earned here to hire an editor for the novel I've written here, so I can publish it, although, I'l be holding until the crypto market picks up. Also, with that, I'll be crediting Hive in it which may hopefully encourage people to come and out what we have here... if anyone buys it ofcourse.

I read all the drama about the game, in all honesty, I've got my gripes with it, namely the fact that there hasn't been much attention given to it by the team in a while. I do believe in it, and think the guys have something cool on their hands. All they need to do is focus more time on it.

I have some other gripes with it to do with being apart of the lore team, which had been festering for a while now.

We have to be realistic about how people will use Hive. If it can buy you food then that's great.

Anyone expecting support for their project needs to be up front about what they do. People will be suspicious if they smell dodgy dealings. We do need more games, so I hope they work it out.

Exactly man, and if there are bad practices, or dodgey stuff going on in the background it can be hard to rebuild trust with the community.

Oh, I was up in Dublin last night playing the support gig for Bad Manners, it was my partners first time seeing us with the new drummer and her first gig since before she was pregnant. All in all, brilliant night.
