The News
I expect most people noticed that $HIVE did pretty well this week with peaks above 60c and getting into the top 300. That is more like it. This is probably driven by some new exchange listings and futures on Binance. There was massive trading volume. It has dropped a bit, but we seem to be climbing a staircase. I know some people want it to drop right down again so they can buy more, but I am happy if it goes up.
Note that the legacy crap coin did not go up much, but then nothing is going on there. Maybe Justin Sun props it up to avoid looking like a gullible idiot for buying it.
I was chatting with @thetroublenotes about their ideas for a Hive version of Patreon. This is the sort of things I would really like to see happen. Patreon generally relies on fans giving monthly donations to artists, but Hive can do it via votes. The fans can opt to build up a stake to increase the value of that, but then they gain too from curation rewards and I would expect they could find more to enjoy here. If we could just get a few more musicians and other artists on board who can bring in even hundreds of fans it would make a difference. The onboarding can be the tricky part and it will need some good instructions to get them through the process as well as some one to one guidance. I have offered to create accounts as I have plenty of tokens for that. I think it would be good for artists to create their own communities for fans as they can moderate that as they would on some other platforms to keep it on topic. If the artist posts regularly then the votes should add up.
One advantage to Hive is the relatively low barrier to entry. You do not have to have thousands to fans to earn something. Setting up an account is cheap (or even free) and communities are cheap too. It just needs some planning to set it up and then it can be a gradual process to bring in people from other platforms.
Friday Follows
- Drummer @ale.dri is back on Hive after a while.
- I saw @leofinance are looking for some proposal funding. It's a fair bit of money, but small in the scale of business. They have been bringing in people from the @dashpay community with help from @thedessertlinux.
- @gadrian also does weekly news posts that cover more than mine.
- I'm enjoying some posts from @meno that vary between the guitars he is building and his thoughts on various politics. We live in 'interesting times' and opinions will vary. I can disagree with some people on Hive, but try to keep it friendly.
It is common that we get new accounts on Hive that appear to be people with a big following elsewhere. We do get some fakes, so we need evidence really. A post or comment about Hive on their main account can be enough. I just saw @joivan123 who says he is an actor and his Instagram has a lot of followers. He is making a few beginner mistakes on Hive, but we should give him a chance to prove he is who he says. We do need such people who could make Hive more attractive. What we do not want is to scare away genuine people.
The Dog House
Not much to report this week. I did see reports of people who are voting up all their own comments. That really is not in the spirit of Hive and they will be reminded of that. Do not do it as you will be found out and then you can attract the sort of attention you do not want. It is much more rewarding (in all ways) to build a network of supporters.
The End
2025 got off to a good start for Hive, but the world is facing various problems. Thousands are currently suffering from massive fires in California and I suspect the incoming president is not going to improve matters. Neither will his unelected paymaster. The world needs compassion and engagement rather than division.

I saw the post about the alternative to Patreon. Commented there. I think it depends on the scale and the price fluctuations of HIVE. For a small scale it works, for a big scale it won't, unless the price of HIVE goes really high (and stays there), due to the limited nature of the reward pool.
Well it could still be good for some when they cannot make much elsewhere. The price will not go up if we cannot attract more people and we have to start somewhere.

We have reason to believe that a prominent whale may be behind it all. This individual seems to think that they own Hive, and they're using their power to manipulate and control the platform. We've spoken to many people who are aware of the truth, and we're confident that the world will soon see things as they truly are.
The problem is that this whale is using their power to downvote good content, self-vote their own posts, and even power down their tokens. They're treating Hive like a bank, and it's having a devastating impact on our community. We've said it before, but it bears repeating: how can we have a whale downvoting good content, speaking to people in a derogatory manner, and yet still expect to be part of our community? This individual needs help, and they should not be a part of Hive.
Furthermore, we believe that Blocktrades needs to take action to remove their Hive power delegation from Buildawhale and Usainvote. These two accounts have been downvoting good content, driving users away from the platform and creating a toxic environment. We've seen firsthand the damage it can cause, and people are leaving Hive.
So what's the solution? One possible approach is to require users to comment on a post before downvoting it. This way, at least people would know why they're being downvoted, and it would give us a better understanding of the motivations behind these actions. Of course, this is just one potential solution, and we're open to exploring other ideas and finding a way to address this issue.

Ah, if we talk about small scale, the reward pool is a good way for them to get something for their work.
I'm no economist as I leave that side to others to figure out. I just know that a lot of musicians struggle to get by and make little from posting on other platforms. I can give directly via votes.
When I first read the post, I thought it was about creators with lots of fans, the influencer type. With them we would have a problem to reward them as they would expect from the reward pool, but for creators who are struggling to earn something on other platforms, I think Hive can and is a very good alternative already.
The big 'influencers' probably do okay elsewhere, but I see Hive as useful to those with a smaller fanbase. We don't have any thresholds for earnings.

One proposal of at least 12 more they plan to request. I don't think things are exactly what they seem.
Well the community will decide what they get. I did note that this one was half of what Splinterlands were asking for. I know some are not convinced and they have to prove themselves. You can see some heated discussions in the comments.
I thought they were raising money through ads and having more active users ought to make that more lucrative. I really don't use InLeo too much.
There's definitely a lot going on in the background that needs to be taken into account. I am much more discerning about where my vote goes these days.
I think there needs to be a high threshold to getting funded and that works via the return proposal. The issue then is shutting out the smaller projects.

We have reason to believe that a prominent whale may be behind it all. This individual seems to think that they own Hive, and they're using their power to manipulate and control the platform. We've spoken to many people who are aware of the truth, and we're confident that the world will soon see things as they truly are.
The problem is that this whale is using their power to downvote good content, self-vote their own posts, and even power down their tokens. They're treating Hive like a bank, and it's having a devastating impact on our community. We've said it before, but it bears repeating: how can we have a whale downvoting good content, speaking to people in a derogatory manner, and yet still expect to be part of our community? This individual needs help, and they should not be a part of Hive.
Furthermore, we believe that Blocktrades needs to take action to remove their Hive power delegation from Buildawhale and Usainvote. These two accounts have been downvoting good content, driving users away from the platform and creating a toxic environment. We've seen firsthand the damage it can cause, and people are leaving Hive.
So what's the solution? One possible approach is to require users to comment on a post before downvoting it. This way, at least people would know why they're being downvoted, and it would give us a better understanding of the motivations behind these actions. Of course, this is just one potential solution, and we're open to exploring other ideas and finding a way to address this issue.

There's many factors to this, but I want to see Hive grow and benefit more people. Where are the Dash crowd hanging out on Hive?
There's probably some on the #dash hashtag, but they're all over.
This big bump in user signups was from our mutual ads/press releases/etc., all of which advertised INLEO as a way to earn Dash specifically. So you could say all that user growth qualifies as Dash users.
I really miss Shibasaki posting on Hive, he is such a great painter, he adquired some fame on Tik Tok and X so we haven't seen him here in a while sadly.
I can understand that people will go where their fans are. Hive is still really small and we need to build the users up to make it a better place to post. It helps if artists can bring some in.
Sure tbf I was surprised to see a so talented artist here, although we have some of them as Armando or Thermoplastic that are truly awesome, the learning curve is also quite high (although is not so high compared with other criptos) for people that is not used to this technology.

I want to push much more on my music career this year and Hive will be part of it for sure. I'll do my best to bring more people here and I'm glad to see there are other professional musicians here that wants the same. The more we are, the easier it will be

The good thing about HIve is, like you said, this staircase pattern. I've been lucky to add a few more Hive trying to trade these pump-dump, but it only dumps around halfway of the pump and off it goes; would love to see this gong on! Maybe we climb above ATH? ;) !BEER
I think a lot of the 'technical analysis' stuff is bollocks as lots of things influence the markets, but I think gradual growth is good and possibly sustainable. I'd like to see $HIVE in the top 100 this year. The old coin was in the top 10 at times.
