The News

It has not been a great week for $HIVE. It has just about stayed above 20c and needs a boost from somewhere. You can vote it up on the price sites to show your confidence. BTW The Steem Dollar 'stablecoin' has dropped from a high of $8 to under 80c this year. There seems to be a lack of confidence in that.

I really do not mind that @gadrian also does some news on a Friday. He pipped me on a few things this week, so please go and read what he has.

A huge hack of various services was announced this week with billions of accounts potentially compromised. It is vital to take what steps you can to secure your accounts. You should enable two factor authentication wherever possible and be wary of dodgy messages trying to get your details. I have had a few of the latter recently. Of course you should be especially careful with cryptocurrency keys as they may be hard to recover. You should be using Hive Keychain for most services as that does not expose your keys.

I can slip in some personal news. I started this year with 130k HP with hopes of getting to 150k before 2026. I just got half way, so I seem to be on target. With the 3% inflation I gain 11.5 HP each day. Then I do fairly well from curation as I aim to maximise that using manual voting. I try not to let my voting power go too much below 80% so it can recover overnight. My posts do okay, but I am not one of the 'favoured few' who always get on Trending. I have connected with lots of people and some of them choose to support me. I do not do any 'deals' for votes.

Friday Follows

  • @stuffings is a chess master from Nigeria who just joined up. There seems to be an influx of chess players in The Chess Community so that could be a key niche for Hive. A top player like this could give some tips to other players.
  • @cryptoandcoffee has some interesting posts on the challenges of solar energy in South Africa. I find Hive a great place to get a global view on various issues.
  • I had lost touch with @leofinance, but things are happening lately. They are making their coin non-inflationary so perhaps the price will recover a bit.
  • My Irish friend @killerwot is back on Hive after a break. He had a long daily posting streak, but with a small child and another on the way I guess things got extra busy. He always has some fun posts on various topics.
  • I log my running via the @strava2hive app and the top person each week seems to be @navidjahanshahi who runs big distances every day. He is in Iran where things are getting chaotic. I hope he is okay. I know we have a few Hivers in Iran who may get caught up in the terrible conflict.

The End

I do not have anything for the Dog House this week. There is always abuse going on around Hive and various people try to counter it. Help out if you can. Just notifying people about scammy accounts helps. We do not want plagiarism and impersonation.

I have various music events coming up, so my focus will be on preparing for those. I have created accounts for my bands, but tend not to use them too much as they are not that active. It is okay to have more than one account as long as you use them for legitimate purposes.

Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!

My doghouse this week is a farm milking splinterlands auto votes and reward.app to retrieve rewards immediately. When they realised how easy they could be found, they edited the post immediately to remove the tag so it wouldn't appear in searches but would still call the bot. So much effort for a few cents which has now gone as well

The bot ought to have minimum requirements such as rep score. That could reduce the issue. People will be sneaky, but the blockchain keeps the evidence.

The owner of the bot doesn't care. Many have reached out to him before

That's a shame. That won't do their reputation in the community much good.

Thanks for the mention, another great follow Friday!

I don't know if you know or not, but these Friday posts of yours have been so beneficial for me, especially while away to keep an eye on what's going down on chain.

I love the section of people to check out, and what they're all about. The Doghouse has often been good, too, to keep an eye on what's happening here as far as abuse goes.

Keep up the good work!

Also, $8 to .80c is a fair drop for them, maybe a cover of freebird with a lyric change to free fall is in order haha

I'm happy to hear it's been helpful. I have tried to keep this up most weeks for years and so have covered a lot. Finding new people is not always easy as my time is limited.

The $SBD price has been a joke for years. I'm sure it is manipulated by a few people. That chain can die for all I care as it is not decentralised.

I know, man, while researching it all to write the film script, there were so many dodgey occurrences that took place over the years with them

Now Sun is cosying up to Trump to try and avoid the cops. It's all corrupt.

Nice! I saw his intro post, but didn't know the chess community are doing well on onboarding lately. Maybe the new IM who joined will find his match after all, with all the new chess players joining (and the existing ones, some very good).

My confidence level is still pretty high. While alts have been hammered this cycled, I believe Hive has life in it for the long-term, which I cannot say about many other projects out there in crypto.

I haven't even thought about it. When I started writing my post, I thought this week would be pretty lite on news (based on the number of links I had collected and what I remembered). But as I wrote about it and dug deeper, found some interesting ones (at least for me). Thanks for your ongoing support!

There's some sort of recruitment drive going on with the chess folk and that's great. They can help build that community.

There's always something going on with Hive. I hope you don't mind if I pick up some stories from you.

My posts do okay, but I am not one of the 'favoured few' who always get on Trending.

That is going to change very soon, rest assured. Everything can change radically overnight, success awaits the lucky ones and no one is an exception to be favored with fortune.

Cheers. We all have potential, but luck is a factor. I want Hive in general to succeed.
