I will take this opportunity to both thank @hivekeychain for their amazing app. I use it every single day of my life. I love it, I preach it, and I can’t get enough of it.
BUT complain a lirol bit
There’s one thing that drives me bananas about it. The autocomplete feature sometimes fails. Hey, sometimes I notice, no big deal. I go back, retype the username, and wham bam, thank you ma’am. BUT!!! Sometimes I don’t have my glasses, sometimes I’m going too fast, and sometimes I screw the pooch.
What do I mean?
Yes, exactly that. I’ve sent tokens to the wrong wallets. Just the other day I sent some money to @anka. I would love to tell you @anka is my wife, but no, that’s not correct. That would be @ankapolo. But you know, I said to myself, it’s only 3 HBD, I will recover emotionally from this.
However, today…
I SCREWED UP!
I sent 250 tokens to @bdh with a nice little memo and all. Who is @bdh? Well, you tell me. Who da hell is this dude?
After I realized I had “gifted” my tokens to some rando, I looked into the rando’s wallet. And… what do you know? There are other pooch screwers like myself too. We should start a club, I think.
The good news
I think I got the lesson down-packed now. Never trust software blindly. Always double-check. And do not, I repeat, do not operate apps without my glasses.
But I also effectively burnt tokens today. A small sacrifice for the valuation of this chain. Why do I say burnt? Well, because this dude, this @bdh, seems to be dormant. I even noticed that @arcange donated to the zombie himself.
But we got nothing on @depos. Now he or she (I have no clue) made a great sacrifice for us all.
Now, it could be that @bdh one day “wakes up” and dumps the tokens. But given the fact it’s already sitting at over 7k and hasn’t done so, I’d say it probably won’t.
Bad luck
I’m not one to believe in such things, but it certainly looks and feels like there’s a force at play here. Not that I could prove or disprove such a thing anyway.
But hey, @bdh, if you ever wake up and feel like doing me a solid, I will humbly accept your mercy. No questions asked.

Creo que ahora sí aprendí la lección. Nunca confíes ciegamente en el software. Siempre revisa dos veces. Y no, repito, no uses apps sin tus lentes.

I'm glad I read this post, to reinforce the idea in my mind that one must double check the address one is sending tokens to! And also, wear reading glasses, or whatever you need to do, to make sure you can see clearly. There is no way to get back what you have sent on the blockchain, unless the receiver decides to send it back. So be careful!
Fun fact: The binance account has HBDs. They don't trade HBDs. All those HBDs are fumbles.

autocomplete my dude... it failed us
Since I don't often transfer HIVE or HBD (and when I do, they are only in very small amounts), I haven't encountered that problem with the username field for a Hive token transfer autocompleting (wrong). 🤔🤯 I think that we really should check the confirmation form on #HiveKeychain before confirming the token transfer (every single time as a good practice). 🧘♂️🤗🤓 !HOPE !LOLZ

Oops. I'm always nervous when doing a transfer. I tend to do it from peakd that gives some indication if it's an actual exchange and shows avatars too. Of course if we mess up then it's probably lost for good. Such is the blockchain.
Today I used keychain because I was on the road... but this won't happen again. It can't!

Ohhh fuck that's really bad! You really should wear your glasses next time. I made a big failure a few years ago myself: I sent money on the wrong network to a not yet existing wallet. In traditional finances these funds would go back to the sender. Not on eth lol. I lost around 4k Eur on that little stupid mistake and I have learned the hard way how the binance chain works.
What's a little benefit of your story: You have proven to be a human. We all make mistakes all the time. Some are minor, some are major and some are even so small that we tend to ignore them. Especially in the cryptospace people are trying to be always correct and hide their mistakes to not be seen as noobs. But the thing is: Crypto is no different to any other space in life. Human are living mistake-machines with the ability to learn and teach. You've teached us to wear our glasses if we have some while doing transfers ^^
