Me, in the near future.

me as an old man.jpg

This is going to be a short open letter of sorts, directed to my friends on Hive. Those who’ve seen me around for the past eight years know I’m in this for the long haul—a ride-or-die kind of thing. The truth is, my enthusiasm for this place, and for what Hive can do for the world, hasn’t faltered one bit. But my circumstances have changed.

I’m out here onboarding people, and as most of you know, I doxxed myself a long time ago. I don’t regret that, per se—I like that people know I’m a real human—but it does have its downsides. And today, I just want to quickly address one of them.

Some of you might already know this, but in case there’s any doubt: the situation in the country I’m living in isn’t great. There’s a lot of danger in the streets, to put it plainly. It’s a common issue in South America, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise. And last time I checked, I don’t own a Daredevil costume—so that’s something to consider.

I’ll be powering down my stake. But rest assured, I’m not going anywhere. I’m just being a little smarter. I need to protect not only myself, but also my family, and being too public requires some adjustments.

Your friend,
MenO

Indeed, it will be a personal fail on my end (possibly literal END) if I allow you to look like you tripped on Jordan Peterson's corpse and ended up in his jacket.

Meno Peterson has a nice ring to it...

Safety is important. I'm hearing some stories around crypto and extortion that are very worrying. Take care.

We find it hilarious that even after being exposed, some people continue with the same behavior. The truth is already out there:

  • TURN OFF THE BUILDAWHALE SCAM FARM
  • STOP THE BAD DOWNVOTES
  • STOP PLAYING WITH PEOPLE’S LIVELIHOODS

These issues must be addressed immediately:

  • Downvote abuse
  • Farming schemes
  • Speaking disrespectfully to others
  • Encouraging people to avoid certain users out of personal dislike
  • Self-voting with alt accounts
  • Self-funding projects through self-votes
  • Promoting games that don’t even exist (LOL)

We sincerely hope you all get the help you need. Good day.

PLEASE STOP.

Yeah, that might be the error. Thinking or believing that with just your words you wouldn't be able to show and demonstrate that you are a real human. And we know it's been a good while since you decided to make that mistake. Although I'm glad that at least it was now that that sudden spark of awareness occurred that forces you to take urgent action on this matter. It's never too late to rectify and solve problems we probably hadn't foreseen. And certainly it is wise to take the appropriate measures and correct what needs to be corrected while we still have time.

Some of you might already know this, but in case there’s any doubt: the situation in the country I’m living in isn’t great. There’s a lot of danger in the streets, to put it plainly. It’s a common issue in South America, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Yeah, I guess you probably didn't think about any of this when you were eight years younger and living somewhere else on the planet. But I also suspect you've probably never read any of the articles I've written before on this subject. One of them about three years ago and the other just two years ago.
