Exploring The Retroverse

If anyone had told me that I would be spending the last days of summer in a universe where everything is on the reverse, I would have hushed the person up for saying such an unimaginable thing but not with Ted, my partner who believes that the only limit one has is his or her imagination. That guy is crazy, always allowing his imaginations to run wild. Sometimes I wonder how I got entangled with him.

Can you imagine that I was still trying to get over our last adventure at the Middle Forest and he came up with another crazy suggestion - a Summer Vacation to the Retroverse!. In his words,

"it's a universe where time flows backwards and gravity works in reverse. A place where the sunset rise from the horizon instead of setting,. The people walk on air and many other unimaginable things.

Looking at him intently, I said "I know you're crazy but it seems like you're going overboard. Where on earth can you find such a place?". Letting out a good laugh, which confirmed my suspicion, he started telling me how he stumbled on it on the internet, browsed and saw that people have actually been there before and that would want us to also go and spend the rest of the summer there.

"No, Ted, You can't be serious," I cut in.

He laughed again and with excitement told me he had already made arrangements for us to travel there, ending in his usual cool voice, "Babe, remember I''ve been wanting to explore other universes, now this is the time for it and cross my heart, we'll have the best adventure ever. Please don't say no" , he looked at me pleadingly. Eish, this guy sure knows how to put me in a spot. Well, the idea sounded cool, who wouldn't want a bit of adventures so I had no choice but to give in and that was it.

On the set date, we got ready, our stuffs in the backpack, Ted, brought out a gadget like a phone, punched in several numbers which and it started beeping. counting from zero. Immediately it got to seven, he held my hands and on count ten, we were off to the land of reverse beings.

Getting there everything looked so unusual, so topsy-turvy. First we got a cozy "Retro-lodge" and settled in. Then we decided to have a walk around to get acquainted with the environment. The people were friendly and welcoming but
they looked so different. They had faces at the back of their heads, with eyes and mouths upside-down, and when they smile, it looked like frowns and their frowns looked like smiles. While walking, instead of moving forward, they walked backwards. Due to the gravity working in reverse, the one felt so weightless that you could also fly through the air like a bird. Luckily we got a special anti-gravity boots to prevent and that helped keep us from floating away. I had to hold Ted's hands all through the walk so I won't be flown away to where I no know o, lol.

Our next stop was at the garden park which also had a zoo. Everything was out of the ordinary, trees grow roots in the air and leaves underground, and looked smaller than flowers, while the flowers were like giant trees. At the zoo, I got the shock of my life - I could hear what the animals were saying and they were so friendly, oh holy mossy 🙃. There was nothing like dangerous animals as they could chat and play with the people freely. It was all so crazy but I loved it as I could chat with the dogs, my favorite pet and I had a nice time playing with them. After spending time at the park, we had to retire for the morning so we could catch some sleep or wake as they call it.

The next day started with sun rising from the west. We got ready for another day of adventure at the beach, "the sunrise cove". The beach looked different too, the tide was flowing backward, water was rushing away from the shore instead of rushing toward it, and wave was receding towards the ocean. Even seagulls were flying upside down.

Cladding ourselves in a reverse-styled swimsuit, we joined other swimmers. Swimming against the tide, the water was pushing us back to shore instead of pulling us out to sea. Another crazy happening but I enjoyed it. After swimming we engaged in other games like beach volleyball, where you hit the ball up into the air instead of down into the sand. That done, Ted went surfing while I lay to have a sunbath. Luckily I got shaded sunglasses and sunscreen too, to protect my eyes and body from the sunrise as I watched it rise over the ocean. It was another day well spent at the beach.

Our next point of call was at the rainbow colored waterfall and the sight was breathtaking. The water was so warm, unlike the waterfalls we have in our own world. And once it touches your hands, it turns crystal. This can only be magic. We played there, throwing water at each other and having the fun of our lives.

Finally we visited the ancient "sunrise clock tower", a landmark that counts down to the sunrise instead of the sunset. The sight was like nothing I have seen nor imagined before. We were all covered up with protective suits and booths and since one could float in the air, it was easy for us to get there. Well, I saw different sizes of sun there. Unbelievable, right? 🤣.

Just like everything was so different from ours, they had this culture of couples getting married first, after which they go on to date and we witnessed such a union at the local church, what could be crazier than that. The event was fun but their style of music and dance was so confusing. Imagine dancing with hands while the songs playing backwards and the beats drop at beginning instead of at the end.

And the food, I don't even know how to describe it. Their popular food is called Sushi, Once you order, they serve it raw and then go on to cook it right there in front of you. Even the drink was floating in the glass and you have to be careful while taking it, else it floats away, lol.

We stayed there for some days before returning home. We made lots of friends and they were so sad learning that we were leaving. We got beautiful gifts from some of them too. Despite the place being quite different from ours, I enjoyed every bit of the vacation there, just as Ted promised.

Thank you for reading...

A universe on the reverse! That's quite an adventure for the narrator and Ted. Your story is imaginative and fascinating! The vivid descriptions and setting make us want to visit the place. Well done and thank you for participating in Week 2 of the collaboration. 😊

This was a very crazy place that goes beyond all logical reason, you took your imagination to the max. A lot of creativity to invent a beach in Retroverso. A very fun story to read, very good work.

Thanks for sharing your story.
Good day.
