The Reality Behind the Khaki: Stress, Rejection, and Resilience.

Normally, with the way the world has been over the years, I think I can actually say the men have always been facing much stress compared to the women, but that is based on my own opinion; some might have a different one, actually. Based on what I have experienced in my recent time as a corps member, I have gone through some things that I believe could have been done easily, but they were not done. It all started on the last day I left the NYSC camping ground and then went back to where I was posted for my primary assignment.

Before I was posted, I had thought to myself how I was going to cope with the stress and getting accommodation in a new place because there was no money for me to do that. I was going to see some people and talk to them as the boss of the service, but after giving them valid reasons, they turned down my request, saying that I should stop my current job just to go and teach and be paid some token, which would not even solve my problems, let alone settle my siblings. I was very furious and annoyed, and I had thought within myself that I should not have gone for service in the first instance.

Not only that, but I was told to speak to the local government inspector on the issues I was having, but I knew he might not give me a listening ear, and I was even trying to get a request letter, but he tore people's request letters, telling them to go to where they were posted. Lo and behold, after going to where we were posted, they did not have an accommodation for the corps members that were later posted, and then I had to talk to them to change it, but still it was not working. Now, I spoke about something earlier in this post that this world sometimes doesn't really favor the guys, and the reason is.

After leaving where I was posted and going to the secretariat, I went with some ladies who told me that we should go there together, that they knew whom we could talk to, but I initially didn't want to agree to that, but because I had no other options at that time, I had to go with them, hoping that I would get the solution to what I wanted through their influence. When we got to the main gate, I was standing a bit different from where they were standing, and I noticed they were really bothered about getting what they wanted and not fighting for ourselves.

I stood back a bit so no one would recognize us together so they could do everything they wanted to do. At the instant they saw who they were looking for, they left me at a spot and entered different offices without calling me to go with them so they could get answers and leave. I stood and was thinking about what I was going to do. As at that time, I overheard her conversation with those she claimed to meet, and I got a solution to what I needed, which they never knew about. I waited for them to finish, and after they were done talking, I told them I was traveling, and they said I shouldn't because they wanted me as bait, but I did not listen to them. In the end I got a solution and they are still working on theirs. But then i just hope this life can be balanced and male child wont need to go through torture to get things.
