Online Shopping Madness? (Short Story - Chapter 2)
Chapter 2- The review
“Ye wala bhi. Nikal do..” [Eng Translation - Remove this one too.] She pointed to the POCO M7 base model.
“So which one is it?” I asked her as we were down to the last two. POCO M6PLUS & Redmi 13.
“Redmi 13 lete hain.” She decided that the Winner.
DING DING DING we have a winner., My inner voice announced the Winner and I didnt bother with her reasoning on this. She must have a good reason for picking this phone and all I want was to get away from the Amazon screen and do something else. As I was adding the product to the cart the Price of the product was not showing and the buy button was disabled.
Strange I thought to myself. And thats when I noticed that 6GB model is no longer available, and only 8GB are available. That's a 2-3K straight jump in price. The Winner was disqualified for lying about the price. I explained the scenario to her.
“To abhi kya POCO lena hain?” she asked. [Eng Translation - Are we going for POCO Now?]
“Looks like it.”
“Theek hain. Koi nahi.” [Eng Translation - OK, No Issues] She agreed to proceed with the purchase with the POCO M6PLUS.
I clicked on the Product, selected the 6GB/128GB configuration and as I was about to click on proceed to pay, she asked, “Wait a minute, we can choose color?”
“Yes, which one do you like? There's Graphite Black, Misty lavender and Ice Sliver?” I asked her.
“I like the Black, but check if there's something in Purple or Violet?”
“What difference does it.. Never mind. Lets see.” I scrolled the entire page, but nothing there.
“Nahi hain. No Purple or Violet.”
“Scroll down naa. Check further.”
“Nothing ahead, just the rating and review.” I replied and scrolled to the bottom of the page. A big bold 3.8 was written in red. Over 1211 people have reviewed it. And the rating is 3.8.
“3.8? Is that the best?” She asked.
“Arey no re.!! It's just people complaining about the delivery service mostly. You can ignore it.” I suggested that we move on with the purchase.
“Check it out once, please..!!” she asked.
That request left me with two choices. Agree with her, Check out the reviews and waste 1-2hr. Disagree with her, tell her that reviews are Sh!t and waste 1-2days fighting. I went with the first option.
“Theek hain, Let's see..” I started going by review by review. “See, delayed delivery 1 star. No service centre, 1 Star. Not getting a refund, 1 Star.. Hitting problem?”
“Hitting Problem???” she was confused, same as me.
“Dumb people writing dumb stuff on the internet.” I shrugged..
“Theek hain, Aage badte hain.” She suggested ignoring and moving forward with the review.
Good Phone, Camera Avg.., Nice Phone, Ok Camera,.. Good for first time android user.. Nice phone, Camera OK, Not for gaming, Battery drains quickly.
“Battery Issues.?” She raised her eyebrows.
“Arey, Only one guy is complaining about maybe he received a defective piece.” I replied my reasoning..
“And why the camera is just OK, Its should've been amazing, wonderful..”
I shrugged, No having any answers. To her question.. And scrolled further to check the users' comments on the phone..
Battery Drains quickly… Music quality not good, otherwise a good phone… my mobile phone gets heated quickly… Hangs frequently and hitting issue..
“Bad battery, Avg camera and Heating issues? Nahi Chahiye ye phone..”[Eng Translation - Dont want a phone with bad battery, avg camera and heating issue].
I facepalmed myself.. This is going to be a long day.
[TO BE CONTINUED]
Hi Folks,
So here I am again, with another episode of the short story. I hope you like it. I am planning on putting an end to it in the next episode. I dont want it to join rest of my unfinished stories.
Today was another good day at office, although I am completely swamped with work. I am trying to balance work (Office) and work (home). But making time to get some fun done in between.
As always, a big thank you to IndiaUnited and the BeAwesome community for their love and support.
PS : I know that the AI images are not helping that much. Can you guys guide me on which images would be better? I am trying to make it like a short novel with images.

When I shop on Amazon, I always filter for products with a rating of 4 stars or higher. I rarely purchase anything rated below that, because I believe customer reviews are more important than product specifications or Technologia
But the reviews are no longer trustworthy, bro. They are being manipulated.🤣

Completly agree on that point, but We can also go through the detailed reviews and actually differentiate between paid ones and genuine ones.
That's what I did for this phone hunting. But was forced to draw the line between the amount I am willing to shell and the mobile specs
I will usually buy a flagship phone with the expectation that I will need a new one in about 6-7 years at least (which the iPhones have been really good for so far, the one I have semi-retired is the XR which I think was in its final run before being superseded by whatever came next when I got it). I don't know how long my current one is going to go for, it is modular but it got discontinued last month (of course it did -_-) but parts are apparently going to be available for another two years and I am pretty sure the batteries they use are the same as for another of their phones which is still in production.
Good luck picking a phone XD
Well same is with me.
I haven't tried the iPhone yet, pretty happy with the Androids and samsung and other brands like Mi provides a good phone within the budget. My phone usually lasts 4-5years. But I really miss the older robust Nokia Bricks. 🤣🤣🤣
They were built to withstand our frustrations and outburst. LOL!!!
I wish I liked Android but I hate it more than iOS x_x
I think they were also from an era that was built to last rather than the pure crap that's around these days.
GOAT phone.
Using my Samsung M51 since 2020... Still going strong !!!
Nice. Samsung recovered nice and well after those fire hazard they called Note 7 🤣
Nice :D we seem to have terrible luck with Samsungs. My son had a Samsung tablet and I had a flagship Samsung phone some years back and both of them had massive battery drain issues (and I think there was another problem with my phone but can't recall what now) which quickly killed my desire for getting a Note (which looked like a very cool piece of kit) and my partner currently has two Samsung monitors which have developed hotspots (they don't seem to be in the way enough to bother him to try to fix it, whereas I would have been trying to fix them the second they appeared and would have bought new non-Samsung monitors by now had they been mine XD).
And meanwhile both my parents have consistently used Samsung phones over the past few years with very little problems as far as I'm aware.
