π»π±ππΎTale of 3 Tails: Chapter 23 - Who has the Cutest Beans or the Most Boop-able Nose? π»π±ππΎ
It's the same with human children. You always tend to talk about the naughtiest, or the loudest, or the most insistent, but the most well-behaved child is often overlooked. Squeek doesn't make it easy though! While the other two seem only too happy for me to shove the camera almost right up their noses, Squeek is a bit more private. She has come a hell of a long way. She used to barely let us touch her, but as I've said previously, she had an almost complete personality change after the whole horrific abscess debarkle which had her on lockdown and in a cone for almost three months. She is MUCH friendlier now and has really settled into our crazy family. This after living with my mom her whole life, where she was not bothered by children and was allowed to be, well quite frankly, an absolute little cow. She is very loving now, even if she's still a bit wary of the boys. At least she eats full meals now and doesn't just dart into hiding as soon as someone walks past her. She's also the only furbaby who has managed to keep her collar! Between Lexi, Mittens, and Chai (rest his little soul) I've bought like ten, at ZAR150 a pop, I'm not impressed. lol.
I managed to steal these images from her this morning. It took two rounds to actually get a good shot of her nose, but she wasn't impressed! I couldn't get one of the beans, I'm afraid, so she'll have to skip that category today.
As you can see, Princess Lexi is always happy to model for me and has even become a pretty reliable room temperature monitor! Hahaha. I can tell how hot or cold she is by the way she sleeps. If she's rolled up like a shongololo,
I know it's cold. If she's spread out like a very long pancake, I know it's hot.
Here are some examples ranging from 22 deg Celsius to 37 deg Celsius:
She is, undeniably, the most photogenic cat I have ever owned in my life. It's that Siamese, wild cat tabby mix. She's just gorgeous. No wonder the neighbors tried to, in a very friendly way, steal our cat π I told them straight, that if I didn't know her, and she just wondered into my home, I don't honestly know if I'd be terribly efficient in finding her actual owners... if you know what I mean. And she's flipping friendly. She's got CATTITUDE for miles, sure, but she knows just how to wrap you around those gorgeous chocolate beans of hers, especially when she stares at you with those big blue-green-eyes.
It seems I've, without planning it, gone from oldest kitty to youngest, but of course, here is Mittens. Master of disaster and Chai reincarnate. I do think he lost a few brain cells though, because bless him, he is doff. We do love him dearly though! Not sure if it's the close-set (almost squint) eyes or just hilarious slapstick comedy that he provides us with, but he does seem to have been dropped on his head as a kitten. He was the runt. But let me tell you, it has always been my thing to pick the runt of the litter because they make the BEST most loving furbabies.
He's also not terribly good at learning lessons or reading body language of the girl kitties and often finds himself in trouble! At least he's chilled significantly since we finally successfully had him neutered. It's made him less territorial, he is no longer providing us with all-night operas of why he can't find a girlfriend and he is making friends with our two older girls. They even tolerate him sleeping on the same bed, never mind in the same room, and that's a major improvement. He still takes chances though!
He had that coming πππ
Here he is, unashamedly trying to steal Matthew's yoghurt! I swear that cat will eat anything!
Then, there's Chai, who left us to cross the rainbow bridge at just a year old in May last year. While I was faffing around trying to figure out what to make for dinner, our veggie garden caught my eye, and I went to go snap some photos. @zakludick built a raised bed on top of Chai's final resting place. We did not purposefully plant anything here. I think @zakludick had plans, but the seeds in our compost had other ideas! We have a butternut plant going bonkers here, producing fruit like mad and trying to take over the whole garden! I think it's a lovely surprise, and the butternut is such a beautiful reflection of who he was. Thanks, Mother Nature!
