Hello everyone, happy start to the week. Today I want to tell you a very special story that took place in my city a few days ago... its happy ending deserves to be recorded in our memories as protectors of stray animals, as well as the life lessons we learn from such sensitive experiences.

I'll start with the day when, thanks to reports from social media users, Cheito was rescued by Guanipa Civil Protection and taken to Misión Nevado to save his life, as he had been hit by a car and the driver had fled the scene, as happens in most cases of dogs being run over.

The dog was taken to the vet where he underwent emergency surgery, but they were unable to save his eyes. Thus, our little angel survived but was left completely blind. Although the case was publicized, no one claimed him at that time, perhaps because the publicity was not emphasized, and Cheito remained in the care of Misión Nevado El Tigre/Guanipa, in a temporary home provided by Guanipa Civil Protection.

He spent a year there, where he grew even more and became beautiful. He always went out for walks with his caregivers with his harness and leash on, because he was so restless that he wanted to run everywhere.

A few weeks ago, for reasons I prefer not to mention, Cheito, along with other animals in shelter, was removed from his temporary home and, in his case, taken to another institution in the city.

Perhaps due to discomfort, neglect, or the animal's own restlessness, he escaped from that place two weeks ago, and since then, all the animal rights activists, rescuers, kind-hearted people, press, and foundations for stray animals in the area have taken on the task of searching for him and persistently publicizing the situation.

Search parties were organized throughout the area, flyers were distributed, and social media was kept updated with the news that Cheito had gone missing and, as a blind dog, was at great risk on the streets.

Our prayers were massive, and they reached where they needed to go, because no one lost hope that he would appear, even though at times we weakened when we didn't read or hear any news.

Until a couple of days ago, our beloved animal rights activist from Misión Nevado, Andreína, gave us the good news that Cheo had been found after wandering aimlessly for days (don't ask me how no one was able to take him in, because I don't have the answer either).

He appeared on the north side of the city, and had gotten lost on the south side. Even now, my brain still can't process everything that happened, considering that he is a completely blind animal, but I continue to trust that my God, our God, was present at his side throughout that journey.

Some people saw him and recognized the dog from social media, kept him, and called Misión Nevado. Our guys immediately went to the site to look for our baby and brought him back home.

But the surprises that day weren't over. The news of his loss was as widespread as the news of his discovery, and an older couple saw the post on social media: “Cheito has been found,” and when they saw the photo, they recognized their dog, who had been lost for over a year.

Cheito's real name was Pocoyó, and they had lost him through carelessness. They went out to look for him and couldn't find him. We deduced that it was just when he was hit by a car and rescued. That's why they couldn't find him anywhere.

Today, Cheito Pocoyó is back home with his real parents, who have promised to take extra care of him because of his blindness, but he remains under observation by the Misión Nevado team to make sure he is really safe.

This story, which kept us on tenterhooks for over a week, now fills us with happiness because of the way it ended, and for me personally, it makes me confident that every day there are more and more of us who love these creatures, and that is very valuable. Thank you all for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful day.

First, thank you for starting your post with words that will be a happy ending because I was so emotional after I began reading. Every time I see stories like this, it’s hard for me not to cry… how can people be so cruel and just leave a dog they hit with a car and drive away?! I’d rather not tell you what I’d do to those people… how can someone be so heartless?! I mean, yes, I understand it can happen if a dog jumps into the street and the driver couldn't react quickly enough… but that you don't stop to help?! 😔 But then there are people like you who will do anything for animals regardless of the circumstances… I can only say thank you for being a person with such a big heart! Many people don’t know what it means to have a dog… how grateful they are, how much happiness they bring into our lives… My baby girl died a month ago, and it hurts so much… she was part of my life for 13 years, and she meant so much to me… she was my protector, my savior during the hardest moments… there is no more barking when I come home, no more laughter when she was sure she’d catch a bird if she ran fast enough and then angrily barked because she couldn't succeed… dogs fill our lives, and I will never understand people who have dogs and don't take care of them, locking them in a box… so once again, thanks to you and your community, I still have hope in humans ❤️❤️

Hi, honey.
Yes, I thought about that at the beginning, telling them that the story had a happy ending so they would know that, despite Cheito's difficulties, he was back home.
I feel the same way. It breaks my heart to see so many dogs run over and abandoned to their fate in the foundations' daily reports.
It's true that sometimes it's difficult to avoid them if they innocently run out into the street, so stop and help them, you can't be so cruel in life.
I've had to say goodbye to many, most of them old, I don't want to suffer that anymore, but my instinct tells me that as long as I can give them a home, the doors of my house and my heart are open to them.
Thank you for this beautiful comment. I am also happy to see that every day more angels are joining this cause. Hugs! ☺️🙏🏻🌷

Gracias amigo!! ❤️
