OVERVIEW

So yeah, I am not about to go the old-fashioned way😌 by starting with…
“Hello, My name is Agnes”. But I guess you know my name now tho🥰,
So Who is this mysterious Gen Z Female?🤔🤔 Agnes Soyinka Kigigha is a Nigerian Midwife that got tired of the low pay😔, and work mental stress in Nigeria and decided to find herself on hive🙂

She has always loved writing ✍️ , as well as connecting with people 🫂👫,so if you are reading this just know, you are my personal dairy.

What does Agnes love? Listening to music 🎶, of course writing and making people happy, and that is why I decided to be a Midwife👩‍🔬🤰in the first place to bring smile to people’s faces😁.

It feels very nice bringing a new being to the world and to see how the world reacts to seeing a newborn baby 🤱 with smiles and genuine happiness and joy. “And what could be more beautiful than bringing new life into the world.” Says “Barbara Katz Rothman”

My Source

I loved that feeling so much🥰 but now overshadowed by the workload, imagine being the only “Midwife” in the ward taking care more than 5 patients at once, all labour cases, the passion quickly turned to me constantly fighting for my life,🥹😣

And yeah, I developed health issues😖 during the process of making people healthy and safe aside that, I developed lack of purpose, 😞 during the process of making people happy, I lost myself, I lost my spark😪.

There was constant pressure from Hospital Management, Senior colleagues and some patients🫩, so I gave up on bedside Nursing😔😔, Don’t get me wrong, I still love Nursing but I also enjoy traveling the world, writing, cooking, meditating and having time for my family and loved ones🧑‍❤️‍🧑.

So welcome to the diary of a Nigerian Female Midwife who is trying to explore the other things I love and hopefully find my spark again, Will I go back to bedside Nursing?🫣 That is a question even I can’t answer for now.

But before then, I would love to know and connect with you🤗 especially women in the reproductive age and educate women on family planning including child spacing, Trying to Conceive women, pregnant women, nursing mothers and care of the newborn as well as immunization.

A LITTLE BIT OF MY PERSONAL LIFE

You already know my name, I hail from the western part of Nigeria, Ogun state, Abeokuta and people from my side are called “Egba”, And a Catholic.

My surname is Soyinka and I honestly don’t know if I’m directly related to “Wole Soyinka” a Nigerian writer, playwright, poet and activist that won the Nobel Prize literature in 1986, he was the first African to win the Nobel Prize.

He is author of the following books

  1. The Trials of brother Jero
  2. The man Died.
  3. The Interpreters.
You can read and know more about him here

FAMILY BACKGROUND

I’m first child, family of 6, I have 2 younger brother and a baby sister I consider as my child.

I was born in Abeokuta, Ogun state but spent most of my years in Ibadan, Oyo state, I grew typically as the only female child in the family, so my upbringing was a little bit different, a little be stricter and more protective, and yeah I was also a bit lazy with house chores, I delegate chores to my brothers so I just cook (not all the time)

Work Experience

I have a lot of experience both in and outside of Midwifery, Immediately after secondary school, I started teaching, I was a biology, Chemistry, Physics and Economics teacher, I taught a little bit of Maths as well( a little bit because that was part time).

I taught for over 2 years before gaining admission, I taught for that long because I wanted to be a Medical Doctor and repeatedly sat for Jamb a couple of times (4 times) and eventually was convinced to do Nursing because they were closely related.

I graduated March 2023 and been actively working, I worked in Benin for one year at Ponders Ends Hospital Benin City, worked there for 6 weeks then got a job at St Philomena Catholic hospital worked there for almost here alongside La Felhz Specialist Hospital (I was working in two places at a time).

I did a couple of other businesses (Sold hairs, did china importation, made people’s hair).

I relocated back to Ibadan and worked in St Dominic Catholic Hospital Ibadan for a year, moved to the best place I’ve ever worked Patnas Specialist hospital Ibadan and then worked in Oluyoro Catholic Hospital.

Currently unemployed by choice.

Hi @agneskigighaso21 welcome to Hive. I'm @palomap3 from Lovesniper OCD team.

What a fantastic intro! You chose a very beautiful profession. As you say, helping to bring lives into the world must feel like witnessing a miracle every time. But from everything you say about your work situation as the only midwife at the hospital, you have suffered from burnout syndrome. I know this because I also suffered from it and had to leave my job if I wanted to stay healthy. In my case, I am an occupational therapist. I can see that you are a woman with concerns and that you don't sit still doing nothing, but rather take responsibility for your life by doing whatever is necessary. Firstborns tend to be demanding of ourselves, hehe. Keep it up, I hope you can fulfil all those dreams.

Could you tell us how you found out about Hive? If a friend recommended it to you, it would be good to mention his/her username so he/she knows you posted. Here is some useful information.

Welcome to the Hive community @agneskigighaso21!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Eight suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your password or keys; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.
  8. NO AI The community values a human-written post, not one generated by a machine.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

The best introduction post I have read though, it got me laughing at some point😂 .

You are everything, a nurse, hairstylist, a model and you are a creative writer.
I love your eagerness to learn, it shows you are an intelligent person.

You are welcome to hive Soyinka, please don't be a complex writer like Wole Soyinka, it took me years to actually understand the interpreter, just joking 😅.

You would definitely enjoy your stay here ♥️
