Four Reasons Why AI Generated Comments Are A Big Fat No
Honestly, I think I'm alright at spotting AI generated comments. They're so well constructed. They're usually a perfectly summary of what I've said with no mistakes and nothing relatable in them, and nothing value added.
It's exactly like telling someone about your day, and they just summarise your day back at you.
I find it intensely irritating and am quick to judge anyone using AI to write comments. And yes, I'll dob you in to anyone listening.

Here's three reasons why you should not use AI generated comments on HIVE.
1. You're Going to Lose Your Ability to Make Real Comments Yourself
It's true. They've done studies on people who use AI to write all the time and guess what? They lose their ability to write. They found students who used AI to write essays had less brain activity than people who did their own work.
It's the old 'use it or lose it' adage.
And if you think you're bad at making comments because you speak another language, how will you ever get better if you're asking AI to do the work for you? You're not.
2. Hive People Don't Care If You Make Mistakes
There's a whole heap of real people here from all over the world. India. The Philippines. Croatia. Nigeria. It's a global community. We understand that English isn't always your first language.
We get that you might use AI to polish up your work and to make it read more clearly, and totally think AI translators are a great tool.
But please don't worry about making mistakes in the comment section - we honestly don't care. As long as we understand your meaning, we don't care about perfect grammar. We just appreciate the conversation.
3. We Would Rather Authenticity
One of the big problems with AI is that it's not us. It never has been. It's just saying what we want to hear. It's gathering everything it has ever learnt and regurgitating it back at us. It's not real, authentic, or original.
Do you honestly think I'd rather talk to an AI than YOU? The best blogs we read on HIVE are about real people having real experiences, and sharing them with their communities. Humans are messy, curious, interesting, colourful, creative and amazing beings. That's what we are here for.
4. Lazy People Suck
Seriously, are you just copying and pasting this blog post into Chat GPT and saying 'write me a comment to this blog post'?
There's people here that work hard, man. And here's you trying to suck the reward pool for doing nothing that requires any effort. You are no better than a plagiarist! Cue angry face.
I'm absolutely positive that those using AI for nefarious reasons aren't gonna read nor understand this post. However, maybe some of you might, or even just one, so this might not be a complete waste of time. However, I feel that if enough of us say it often enough, perhaps we set a standard of behavior for this platform that continues to make it a good place to be, no?
With Love,

Hi! It's not my thing to use AI! I fell in love with your dragonfly, which is very nice! I also checked out your posts, they look exciting. I'm almost only looking for art and you have that, which is great!
Im Australian, and this is about the only drawing I've managed. I'm not good at it but I was proud of this.
But now I see that you are Swedish, right?
AI can read a blog and comment? Ouch. Didn't know that. Also didn't know you could draw. ..and speak French.
Oui.
That's it. Haha Jamie can do French which is very funny when he is a little drunk. But I'm Australian.. we barely speak English.
Australian? Ah. Ok. I thought you were Swedish:)
Swedausfrenchese.
I've started to wonder about AI comments I might get. Still not great at picking them out.
They are usually super generic, summarize your post, and don't add any personal response. Usually
That's sort of what I've been looking for...
Got this spot on @riverflows
You took the words right out of my mouth!!
Lazy people suck, they are also looking for maybe a follow and a few sheckles thrown at them, it is nearly as bad as someone commenting without even reading the upload!
"great photo of this lake".............when it was clearly entitled as a fucking river!!!!
nuff said
Or 'gt at photo of a lake' when the post was about your whole family dying in a boating accident....
gross!!! lol lol lol
LOL

They're so many of them nowadays, just freaking lazy, can't even be bothered to check what shit AI throws out
Lol. Losers.
I loved reading this part. Ideally, people should be able to leave a nice comment. Whether it's positive or negative. I mean, we need to build a genuine conversation.
There are many users who have discouraging practices. People invest a lot of time here, and I don't understand how they can't appreciate that. Like them, we all put something of ourselves into each post. Therefore, I think we deserve respect. I don't speak English fluently, but I try to be authentic in every post and comment.
It's fun and also nourishing. Your mind explores and is encouraged, generating new ideas.
I really love the global community here and like to think I've made friends all over so yeah who cares about a few mistakes when you interact with awesome people like yourself!
These are the responses and interactions we all deserve. After all, we are human beings. We don't want to read something generated by AI. I was happy to read this. :) There are more good people like us out there. Not everyone is like them.
There's lots of us who don't like it so you are definitely supported in your thinking, don't worry. I'm glad to know there's plenty of people like you making an effort.
So many people that have English as a second language can often speak it better than those who have English as their mother tongue. It is so funny :D
Greetings
This butterfly artwork is just a good production of art.
Proper engagement will return as soon as people see the value in the community on Hive.
Thanks
If they haven't yet, they're not gonna.
What is "proper engagement"? Why would it return from people who don't do it already?
It is perhaps the effect of the bear market. Many accounts are dormant until the price of Hive rises 20% uptrend, then accounts owners return active and engagements increase on the comment section of multiple publications.
Peace
The irony of the laptop in the corner of your image "ThinkPad" - it does no thinking of its own, its just a silly Lenovo or IBM!
I really want to rant and vent and say a lot of things about AI, but it is more or less ending up being in one of my short stories (which is increasingly becoming a longer and longer story - with ballooning scope - I may have to serialise it!)
But it is for the most part linked to recent decisions that I personally made which have led to me being in the situation I comfortably find myself in. But! I have, as a result, in my own view, taken the personal high ground on the AI front of things, and to me, that is incredibly liberating.
I am not "anti-progress", but I am "anti-being a fucking dumb-fuck", and the blind and continued use of LLMs / AI models in the community, business, marketing, Internet, and other areas of life where real decisions are made, and real people are impacted by those decisions, without having the ability to understand the larger scope, can and WILL continue the trend of enshittefication of our contemporary existence.
Yes, there's some things that it is useful to use a LLM or a AI for - BUT only if you are already an expert or have significant knowledge of that domain to see through the bullshit.
There is so much bullshit published in all corners of the Internet and other media - books, articles, news, etc - and the fact that LLMs have been trained on this content (which is always and has been written with a perspective and a bias) - will ensure that this bullshit is perpetuated further and makes its way into the world as "fact", when it is, in fact, bullshit.
I despair over these sorts of things in my mind daily, but it is a hill that I will gladly die upon. I just hope I'm not going to die on it alone.
Um yes.
Um yes. Like a pen licence.
Which hill? I shall saddle my steed and arrive anon.
I think this above rant will develop into a full post - I just... think it may be career limiting if I am too honest with it, given there's only a few clicks to be done to arrive at my identity :P
