This Is Why I Love Hive
This is not rant or complaint, just some memories from the past, but I didn't know where to post it, so here it is.
As I've said so many times in my posts over the years, Hive has taught me so much that I can't even begin to tell you. The whole journey started with the purpose of practicing English and sharing my photos, but no journey is a straight line and mine has not been either. There's so much motivation here that it's impossible not to learn or not to try out new things, learn new skills. If you're open minded and are not here just to abuse and milk, then this is a great source of motivation.
One of the skills I've learnt here is drawing. Ok, I wouldn't call it skill as I am still as untalented as I was before registering to Hive, but that's besides the point.
Looking back and going through these memories made me smile. Knowing I have zero talent in drawing or painting made it easy as with this fact in mind, I had no expectation and knew I can only do as much and every drawing was a lot of fun. I remember laughing so many times on how terrible my drawings were and this made it enjoyable. No expectation leads to no failure and no pressure, so the whole journey can only be easy and funny.
Back in 2018, on the legacy chain, we had a lot of drawing contests and I made sure to take part of a lot of them. I was asked to judge some of the editions and also won some of them. Needless to say I wasn't the judge in those as otherwise it would have been conflict of interest. It wasn't about the prize, I don't even remember how much those prizes were, it was just for fun.
Back then I wish I would have a drawing tablet, but I didn't. It wasn't because I could not afford it, but because I didn't think I would use it to worth it. Today I have one and know exactly what my goals are.
Yesterday I took out a part of the drawings and was amazed how many usable ideas I had those days and thought I could use some, transfer the designs to digital support and create something out of them. This idea has been in my head ever since I bought my drawing tablet and the time has come to make it happen.
Today I'm going to show you some of my drawings and tell the stories that come with them. Let's have some fun, shall we?
This drawing is called the pumpkin seller and it is from October 2022. It's a watercolor collage, as the pumpkins are glued to the main paper. Now looking at it, looks really childish 😂 (all of my drawings are by the way) and I see I could do better. I'm glad though, that I can see how to get something out of it.
This is from the 13th of March 2018, two months after I registered to the legacy chain. It's not something unique, not exceptional, but can be used to make something good out of it.
This one has a nice story. It is from the 25th March, 2018 and was my entry for a contest organized by a Hungarian artist, who's not active anymore. The topic was "The Attic" or at the attic, something like that and I remember I had to watch tutorial videos to see how to draw an attic. There are certain rules you have to follow, which I need to rewatch. I remember I made it simple, most likely it fits the "imature category", like an illustration in a story book for kids. I hope it makes you smile 😂 because I had a lot of fun drawing it.
March 27, 2018. This was also part of a contest, but it wasn't a simple contest. We had a user on the legacy chain, the contest organizer, who gave us the initial drawing, which was basically a few lines connected, nothing that made sense and everyone had to use it as a start, then create something out of it. I think the initial drawing was a part of the pepper, so here it is, my Mexican chilly gardener pepper.
March 28, 2018. Looks like I made a few drawings per week back then. This was a joke really, as a kindergarten kid can draw better, but I had a lot of fun. It was for a contest and the description clearly said, "make it fun" as they were not looking for the next Picasso. So I made it fun 🤣
This is a drawing I started years ago and never finished it. I love parsley pattern, which I love a lot, but it's just a sketch and a lot more needed here.

Day 8 - Inktober - Frail
I love INKTOBER and did a few days two years in a row but never did a whole month. Back in those days some curation projects were curating the good entries. I remember I was at my dad's when I made this and had like 20 - 25 minutes do make it as we were busy cleaning the garden all day.
Day 7 - Inktober - Enchanted
An idea, a sketch, never finished it.
This was a lot of fun, I laughed a lot during drawing it. I can't remember which it was, but one of the communities had a challenge, according to which you had to draw what you were doing, or your hobby, or something like that.
What you see here is me recycling jeans to made denim bags 🤣. A caricature honestly, a funny one.
Another sketch, never finished. I could make it more realistic, in 3D view.
April 9, 2018
This was a funny one. Part of the drawing was given, the wings or the bee I guess and the rest was up to us. I won the contest with this one and everyone was laughing at the "Honey Hotel", me included 🤣.
I loved these times, we could do a lot of stupid things and had a lot of fun. No Picasso was discovered, but it give me the necessary push to start drawing.
I made a lot of stupid drawings for fun, then I started practicing based on YouTube tutorials, like these two.
Looking back, I see the huge mistakes now, but again, those were for fun, I had no serious intentions about anything. We had a lot of fun when the entries were posted and that was all that mattered. Things have changed since then, or I have changed, or both.

Hi @erikah,Of course we could learn, explore more things through spending our hive journey. Before joint to hive we didn't have lot more ability to many works like as art drawing. After looked your previous art works I honestly believe you have good skills to art drawing and must need to do some improvements. You said you already wond some prizes through art contests on hive and it can keep as good memories.
That prize was on Hive, so nothing serious and my goal is not to become famous, just to have some fun, but I definitely want to practice more.
Actually if you have skills to drawing and painting, it's not necessary to be famous. Most important thing is improve talent. Just need to start as fun and then will be expert with much dedication.
I've been on Hive for about 8 years now if I include the time on Steem. Also believe I have learned a lot and still say that Hive saved my life. Now I can never be bored. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day
My thoughts exactly! There are so many things to read and post about, and never enough time. Nice to meet you btw 🙂
ha my drawing skills are way worse than yours 😂
out of them i really like this one
this one is the funniest
maybe he will plant himself?😄
I don't know it it's going to paint itself, but I'm glad you like these 😆
One of the greatests benefits of this platform is that through meeting other people and their talents we also get inspired and learn new skills or get better in many fields. It doesn't happen in a day of course, but it is interesting to follow our own learning process. You did very well with your drawings. 😇
You're right, there are many people who are truly inspiring.
We are on the same page with Hive, except my drawings of course 😆 but those are just for fun. Hive is part of our life and helps us get better at everything.
In fact,@erikah each drawing is a genuine imaginary that is very much yours, because they frame each Hive event in the meaning of your life. Hugs 🫂
Thank you so much my friend! 🤗

I’m a bit confused. If those art works are not good enough please can you show me the ones that are good enough. Those are lovely art works. I don’t think artworks have to be so professional to give what it should give. I don’t think there is any of your artworks that I didn’t admire. And to think you started when you joined the hive blockchain? That is incredible.
Thank you for sharing this.

I wouldn't go as far as calling these artworks, but thank you! I'm trying my best, sometimes I make them funny, sometimes I'm really trying to be as good as I can be. However, there's a new chapter starting in this regard.
You won’t do that because you are an art person, hehe. You’ve seen so many art works so it’s easy for you to find some not worthy but that won’t be for someone like me who has seen less.
You’re welcome! I look forward to seeing more of them.

I always wanted to draw or paint but I am not good in it..
No worries, neither am I 😄
But your artwork is getting better and better
I enjoyed seeing your art.
The spooky attic made me grin, what fun! The campground too.
I know we don't always have to choose a favorite, but I have an affinity for little houses the wonkier... or more whimsical should I say (wonky is a good word to me).... the better! So.....the inktober day enchanted is my fav.
Art is so fun, no matter the style.
@madushanka, @christinepoulos, @davideownzall, @mipiano, @janitzearratia, @legionsupport, @bigeyes2012, @jacey.boldart This is an artwork I photographed at an exhibition. The creator is an artist, not like me, so I don't feel so bad about my drawings anymore 😂
Oh my goodness. Thanks for letting us know @erikah
I get what you are saying. I've seen plenty of art out in museums and other exhibits that make me feel like a master. LOL !!!!
The art world is a little off sometimes, which is good for people like me.
Lol I would say your pieces are better 😂 you should start exhibitions too 🤪
Exactly! Yours seems more catchy and entertaining to me.
Yours is way better
I totally agree with you, Hive is a great source of learning. You can find absolutely everything there: very nice people with life experience who contribute a lot, technology, wonderful landscapes, recipes, and countless other things I could mention. Another great thing is that people genuinely care about you, even though you don't know them in person. Maybe you haven't posted for a while, and they leave you a message to see how you are, or in the next post they say they were worried about you or ask you about your life. It's really a very beautiful place.
This is so motivating. It really resontes with me as an amateur sketcher who is thinking of giving up because I feel I might not improve. Practice really makes perfection. I will keep on keeping on.
