Interesting Indigestion Incident

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about how we sometimes make poor food choices and our bodies remind us for a while!

Interesting Indigestion Incident

I recently had a pretty long bout of indigestion! I don't claim to be any type of crazy health expert or nut but I do try to seriously watch my diet because we need to do what we can to protect our health and our bodies!

We do sometimes forget though that our bodies are not infallible hahaha. I experienced this one first hand for sure! Back over the summer, we were celebrating Independence Day aka The Fourth of July and we went to some family's house. They had a pretty nice cookout and there was certainly a lot of food on the tables. I decided to indulge myself in some of the wares and chose something that I knew was likely not going to end well, but I didn't realize how it would have a long-lasting negative effect on me!

My wife's uncle likes to make all kinds of food which is a good thing, because a guy that can cook for himself is important. There are too many who don't know how to cook and that's pretty sad if you ask me. This guy though does a pretty damn good job! What he was making on this day was one of his specialties. He marinates pork ribs in a few different sauces and one of those sauces being Ah-So sauce which I think is typically a Chinese style sauce they put on the Chinese pork ribs. I know I see it in the oriental aisle in the grocery stores.

It had been a really long time since I've eaten Ah-So sauce, and for good reason.. the ingredients on the stuff are freaking HORRIBLE LOL. They mask all the chemical shit with lots and lots of sugar, I think in the form of high fructose corn syrup which is even worse. The stuff was pretty tasty going down that's for sure so I was enjoying myself and I grabbed 4 or 5 of the ribs and ate them heartily. Things were going great! ..Until that evening.

Holy shit I had a killer stomach ache and thought that I had eaten tainted or spoiled meat and was dismayed at the thought. Nobody wants food poisoning especially if it comes from your family members lol. Luckily I didn't have food poisoning but what accompanied me was some of the worst heartburn I've experienced in my life!

I'm lucky in that I don't get heartburn but it goes back to eating a fairly decent diet, good vegetables and the meats I eat are often not processed and certainly not doused in crazy chemicals like a lot of the foods out there are. I immediately realized that the Ah-So sauce was the one that fucked me up. The Ah-So sauce contains something that pissed my stomach off and it wasn't the same for about 2 months after I ate that shit!

I was just thinking the other day that my stomach has thankfully seemed to have recovered since this issue happened but damn it was it uncomfortable to be in pain after eating some foods and having some intense indigestion. I certainly appreciate my pretty normal and healthy stomach a lot more now that the issue has gone away let me tell you lol. We tend to do that, us humans. We take advantage of our healthy body so much when we are living in it but when we run into issues we realize how good we have it and want to do what we can to get rid of the issue so we can go back to feeling "normal". This is quite the paradox! We want to feel normal so we can occasionally eat these unhealthy things but when we eat them and our body gets mad, we get all bent out of shape hahaha. The hypocrisy!

That must be something, I have never heard of that sauce nor it is available here in my country.
But man, having a stomach problem after taking some food is never nice.
Nice that you have recovered since, I think next time you will leave the food that is cooked with that sauce. lol

We take advantage of our healthy body so much when we are living in it but when we run into issues we realize how good we have it and want to do what we can to get rid of the issue so we can go back to feeling "normal".

A typical example is when we have a runny nose. It's such a humbling realisation.

Ew. Yeah it's weird, you'd think we would be able to tolerate the occasional junk because we are healthy but our bodies aren't used to it. If you add Ah-so (asshole???) sauce every day you'd be fine!

Hahaha ya asshole sauce is a great way to describe it!

For sure, we stay healthy to cheat here and there and our bodies want none of it lol.

Got me laughing 😄
I can't remember the last time I had a stomach reaction via food. I think my stomach is immune to this 😄

So many people don’t know how to cook and I guess that is why a lot of them love to eat outside
Well, I love to cook but also eat out at the same time

Oh I feel your words and descriptions. It happens to be sauces that do it to us most often. It reminds me of my stay away pizza, Papa Johns, lol. Everytime I have eaten it I get the worse wake up in the middle of night stomach pains. I remember the pain as I sat in the bathroom looking up at the ceiling telling the Almighty I will never eat it again 😂 I'm sure it was the sauce. I've had this expensive twice and there won't be a third! We learn quick what not to eat and we all should be somewhat conscious of what we're putting in our bodies 😊

Hahaha ya dude the most recent thing I can think of me eating that caused that chaos is White Castle. I don't eat those chain restaurants but years ago we went to New Jersey and you don't go to New Jersey without visiting White Castle lol. It was vile, the food blew through us in like 60 minutes and we all had to stop hahaha it was nasty. I know for sure I won't be eating White Castle ever again lol

The moral of it all is that "no one takes away what you danced from." Yes, stomach pain is horrible but at least there was a good time before all that hahaha. Now you've learned that it's better to stay away from foods that go bad, I'm so sorry for your stomach all this time 😅.

Hahaha yeah that's a good point! The food was enjoyable so we got to enjoy moments of bliss before pain, so it's a worthy sacrifice it seems!

There is such a beautiful place where one gets to see many natural sights, then visiting here is its own fun, the way we see these plants, flowers, trees, leaves, everything looks very beautiful.
