Feed Off Me

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to bitch about the annoying ass pests when I'm trying to work!

Feed Off Me

I love to do certain things.. but there are a lot of times when I'm told it's NOT the best idea!

IMG_1647.JPG

I've been really enjoying working outside on the deck the last few months. Getting some sunshine directly on my skin, unfiltered by the various things that we are putting in place to block it like windows, glasses etc. is really a wonderful thing. Like anything though.. there is give and take!

The take for me is in the form of sacrificing my body in order to do it. What do I mean by that, you say?! Fucking MOSQUITOES! Those little pieces of shit have been absolutely obliterating my body the past 3 times I've been out there working, and it pisses me off LOL.

I try to work out there with just shorts on, so that I can expose my skin to the most sunlight possible. This works really well when the sun is out and shining but when it hides behind the other side of the place, and I get into the shadow, that's when those little fucking sonsa-bitches come out and really take me to the cleaners.

I didn't even really realize what was going on, because I didn't feel it at first. I finished my work day, cleaned the place up and went inside. I finished the afternoon and evening, put my son to bed and took a shower as I normally do. When I got into the shower, under the nice hot water though.. that's when I realized that I've been fucked up! The ITCH on my damn back was insane! The hot water feels awesome on the bites, but holy shit I didn't realize just how many of those fuckers I actually got lol.

IMG_1642.JPG

I had my son count for me.. I got 35 bites on my back LMAO. I was a fucking piece of cattle to those little assholes. It's funny though, when I think about mosquitoes I always think of my great-uncle who died a while ago, he would always call them mo-skwee-doughs. He had a bunch of funny mannerisms but since we went fishing a lot, especially in the warmer weather, he would always complain about those little assholes.

I of course need to figure out how to get the sunlight that I need while also keeping those pieces of shit away. Thinking about it over the last day or two, I might try and stick one of the fans that we've got in the house out there with me and turn it on low to blow the wind at me. Hopefully that will keep them from being able to fly close to me and land.

The weird thing about it too though is that it's hard to see the little fuckers. I don't know what species this is, but it's not the big ones that you can see really easily. It must be some tiny little shit that's hard to see, kind of like the ones you see when you're walking or hiking and you see them in front of your face, but people around you can't really see them besides you just swinging at the air. I remember hearing a funny name about them but I can't remember it off hand.

One thing is for sure though.. I want to get a bug zapper and put it out there with me! Hopefully those little shits will be attracted to that and get killed instead of feeding off me like a piece of meat.

Annoying as hell like always but looking different and sometimes hard to see yes.

Yeah, I'm sure dude! Don't get me started on the ways the fuckers have morphed (been genetically engineered). Really disgusting, but mosquitoes now carry Lyme disease, so that's a fun thing to be on the lookout for.

What really pisses me off is when you can't see the little assholes lol

Thermacells work wonders. Wouldn't go camping without ours.

Hmm... surprisingly I've not heard of that at least by that name. I have to look that up!

I need one of those oldschool blue bug zappers we had in the yards as kids LOL that'll keep the fuckers at bay!

35 bites! I'd be in the hospital :)) Every bite blows up and stays mad itchy for at least a week.

My daughter said we should get bat house (so the bats will come and eat the mosquitoes). Then she learned bats are the most common carriers of rabies. I think the fan is actually a good idea. When it's windy at the beach, the mosquitoes disappear.

Yeah, bats are phenomenal. I've actually noticed that we've not really had many bats these last few weeks which is surprising. It's still relatively warm at night so they should be feasting! In the high summer, we can hear them chirping and see them darting around all night in the sky it's great!

I'd not really be too worried about the rabies stuff. I think a lot of that shit is just to scare people. Do you know anybody that's gotten bit by a bat, and then got rabies? Lol I sure as shit don't.

Mosquito bites are quite painful too, and there are so many of them here, especially if you’re in the corners or hidden areas.

Yeah when you're in the shade, those fuckers come out in force!

35 is really quite a lot lol. It was an interesting pastime for me to try trapping them with nets and spray them all when I was outside under a tree just taking in fresh air but also having a bunch of then trying to feast on me. Sometimes, the bite swells after a few days before the pain stops completely.

Yeah, they really ruin a good moment, don't they? Assholes lol

They love Co2, so it would be good to get a Co2 pump that attracts them in and then figure out a way to kill em. Mosquitoes are one of the only bugs, besides hornets, that I find no qualms slaughtering as many as I can get. They are repulsive!

Hmm I am a fan of lemongrass scents, and I have quite a few lemongrass reed diffusers at home. And I think they have been effective in keep mosquitoes away from my place! Fingers crossed. I think citronella is also another alternative too.

Oh for sure! Citronella and lemongrass work wonders for them. I've also found that basil, for whatever reason, also works well! When we have lots of healthy basil plants, releasing their aromas, the mosquitoes are far less frequent than when we have zero basil. The power of nature is awesome! Except the power of mosquitoes, fuck them. lol

Thanks, yeah I've gotten to visit some really wonderful places! The cool thing is these aren't from crazy places far off like New Zealand or whatever. Just some local stuff!

I was surprised when I saw a mosquito in Paris during the summer, which I killed immediately. It felt so weird not seeing mosquitoes for a long time as it was normal for me to see it in the Philippines. LOL
