My First Job Experience

Three months after high school I got my first job at a store that deals with clothing materials at the market close to home. My very good friend and classmate had told me about the job and how desperate the shop owner needed an extra hand to manage his business and since I also needed the cash, he linked me up with the entrepreneur and I was told to start work the next day. Payment for my services was very poor but I decided to take the job as it was better than staying at home and I could really use the experience.
The next day which was literally my first day on the job. I woke up early, got dressed as I wanted to make a good first impression, hyped myself to boost morale and off I went to Ibrahim Babangida market Suleja to chase the bag. I got there 36 minutes before my employer and we went straight to work the moment he arrived. My first day on the job was filled with uncertainty, confusion and fear of messing things up. I stayed close to my boss as much as possible to absorb the prices of every item in the shop and just for precaution I had a pen and book to write down everything I felt was important which includes prices and where everything was located.
Seeing how dedicated I was on my first day alone, my boss bought me something heavy for lunch which was not part of our initial agreement. He asked if I had any experience with business before even though this was my first job and I told him yes as I was no stranger to the art of buying and selling. I continued pouring my all into the job and in just a week I was already good with prices, deciphering good materials from the average and established quality relationship with the customers. From the third day of my second week my boss would go business journeys to get more goods for the business entrusting me with the affairs of his shop.

The temptations of being in the same proximity of that kind of money was huge but still I maintained my integrity. On my third week, my boss brought his fiancee to be my supervisor and that was when things started to take a turn for the worst. She was rude, controlling and always looked for every opportunity to talk me down. This continued for awhile and right after my first month she was able to convince my boss to fire me and he did. I came back home, stayed four extra months before I was able to get something else and that was when my old boss came back that he wanted to rehire me. I told him I already have something better and I can't leave and besides I don't want to work with his lady anymore and that was when he told me he ended things with her. Apparently she was stealing from him while he was away and the only reason she wanted me gone was because I was kinda hindering her from doing what she wanted. I appreciated the offer and thanked him for everything but I was not going back.

A few days ago I met him in the market and he is obviously doing well to my greatest joy. He is now married with two kids and his business is now bigger than it ever was.
I still look back to the times when I would fall asleep right in front of his shop and he would jokingly threaten to cut down my pay if I slacked on the job ever again🤣🤣🤣. Those were good times indeed
Thanks for stopping by guys
