Life lessons with Kingfishers! When it rains.... 😀

> When it rains - enjoy it ! Jump in puddles!

We have all heard this, sort of cliché old saying. HR in corporates always uses this when the raise they dole out is not even worth peanuts - Isn't it ! 😂

You must be wondering what I am doing here - talking about Rain, HR and raises and clichés in a post on photography lovers community!

Well - do you remember the days when your hands had this irresistible urge to click something and you could not click anything because it rained? As a wildlife enthusiast, I have spend many disappointing days at home... waiting for the rain to stop.

Till - one day, I decided to go out an enjoy the rain. I decided to go out there and try to click whatever I could in rain. What a revelation it was ! This Kingfisher showed me, literally that -

Enjoy the rain - wear a crown of rain drops!

Not only can we enjoy the rain but we can be King of the world for that moment and wear a beautiful crown of raindrops.

I find the Kingfishers to be always very calm, patient and stoic. This Kingfisher, which used to be very active on sunny days- sat patiently and waited the storm out. Raindrops were falling steadily and it sat there, with a sort of distant look in it's eyes.

I had to risk getting my camera thoroughly wet in that torrential rain but I managed to capture this shot which, to me personally, demonstrates that rain can be enjoyed. All it takes is a positive outlook and some perseverance - Just like life!

Ultimately, when the rain does pass, the Kingfisher goes and finds a perch and starts looking for a catch. Sometimes, the perch is so lovely that I am at a loss to determine if the bird is lovelier or the perch!
Irrespective of which one is more lovely, it certainly makes for a very pretty picture!

Life can be pretty - if we find the perfect spot!

It all does not matter, of course, if there is no catch! No one, a person or a corporate, can survive unless there is some reward as a result of all the handwork, waiting, patience etc. For a Kingfisher, this reward comes when, after a lot of waiting, suddenly a meal is seen. The Kingfisher then swiftly gets into action and makes the catch!!

Enjoy the reward of patience and hard work!

IF luck is with us, sometimes we can even get double reward !! 😎

Double reward!!

I was able to take these images, thanks to my trusty D500 which allows 10 frames per second and also has excellent high ISO noise performance. With low light on rainy days, I had to click with very high ISOs - sometimes over 3200 but I could still get great images I think. Three cheers for modern electronics and technology!!
