Fun Friday playing with light
Fun Friday playing with light
Good Morning I hope your week is going well TGIF and have a good weekend
Today I am keeping with my Fun Friday theme, and sharing some photos I took, well before i go any further for me its fun getting out for photo walks so any photo I take could fit this theme, but being a bit more specific and sharing some light painting shots I have taken recently, as I do have a lot of fun doing these, and trying to improve through trial and error, I have some good days where I am happy with what I get and some days not so much LOL
Doing them early morning not many people are out and about but the few that are, some give me strange looks, only one person has walked over and asked what was doing, but one person clearly was paranoid or something as I did have the police turn up and approach me one morning asking what I was doing and they were cool with it.
I have tried to do some light painting of words, one being HIVE, and think I did it better this time.

So what is light painting let me try to explain
Light painting is basically photography’s rebellious cousin who skipped art school and went straight to rave school. Instead of brushes and canvas, you use flashlights, sparklers, glow sticks, or anything that creates light
You set your camera on a tripod, open the shutter for a few seconds or minutes, and then whoosh, you draw in the air with light. The camera sees all the glowing trails and goes, “Oh, cool, I’ll just record that like it’s normal.” And voilà—you’ve got a photo that hopefully you think is cool .
It’s like finger painting, but for grown-ups who still believe in magic and own more lenses than socks.
This next one was in Fort Taber

I tried at the port but there was to much light from street lights and such, but got this one which is kind of OK

This is by the Boat ramp at Apponagansett Beach Boat ramp in Dartmouth, same location as the first shot in this post, people were heading out early using the boat ramp to launch there boats, and that the lights off to the right in this photo

And one last one by the old Fort in Fort Taber, catching some reflections in a puddle

Oh my my
These are breathtaking 😍
I've never heard the word light painting but you did well to explain it with your funny choice of words. But either way I understood.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks, I will at some stage take a photo of the tools I use and that make help explain it better
That would be awesome

Wow! Starting from the third picture, the one with the boats in close-up, I began to see them everywhere made of light and reflections, even in the 5th picture, where they clearly aren’t there. Strange, and so fascinating at the same time! 😍
