Magical Madeira: first little sneak peek
Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
We just got back from our Madeira honeymoon and as much as I wish we could stay there longer, I´m sadly writing these lines back in cold and rainy Prague (this is actually a very weird weather here in August by the way). Like I mentioned in the little greeting post a couple of days ago, the visit was very short, just a few days actually, but we did our best to see and experience this magical Portuguese island as much as we could.
Madeira is a relatively small island but it´s so incredibly packed with all kinds of beauties that we literally only scratched the surface and we both agreed that we need to return to Madeira for a much longer period of time (maybe even to live there, who knows?) to experience this place fully and genuinely, just like we were used to do that at various places around the world when we lived as nomads and expats...
Despite the lack of time and the advanced stage of my wife´s pregnancy, however, we still managed to see some stunning parts of the island and here is a little sneak peek of what you can expect to show up on here on my blog soon :)
I will post about Madeira mountains...
...animals...
...flowers...
...food...
...culture...
...scary creatures...
...architecture...
...Cristiano Ronaldo...
...landscapes...
...seascapes...
...and much more :) But before I get to work on all these posts, I will first catch up on what I have missed during those past few days here on Hive of course. So no worries guys, I will reply to all your comments, I will check out your posts, I will go through my feed, I will curate and engage with you. It will just take some time as it has been a really hectic period of time for us lately. But we will manage somehow :)
Thanks for your attention, support and patience guys. I really appreciate it.
In fact, I didn't know this place. Seems wonderful and might be must visit. How could you capture the reptile shot :)
The weather has gone strange here as well. Windy, not so hot and will rain for three days in the forecast. Hope it will, we need it!
Have good days man!
Oh really? You haven´t heard of Madeira? I thought that every football fan know this island because CR7 is from there. He has his house there, museum, statue, hotel and restaurant... He still comes to Madeira several times every year to be with his family :)
Better cold and rainy weather than scorching heat, drought and wildfires my friend!
Hey, congrats on your honeymoon! My wife and I didn't get one of those because we had to go right back to work after we got married. That's our bad for getting married right at the beginning of the school year! The photos are beautiful, this looks like an amazing place!
Thanks man! I´m sorry you didn´t get to have a honeymoon yourselves, it´s a nice tradition. But technically, it was just another holiday for us as we have been together for, well, let´s say more than a decade already :D
Glad to know you like the pictures, much more to come soon :)
Thanks! I know people always said it is never too late, but I kind of feel like if you don't go away right around your wedding, then it doesn't count. At that point it is just a vacation.
What an amazing place!
How beautiful Madeira is!
Such a beautiful place must be a dream, especially for those who are on their honeymoon, as you have said. The food must be surprising there too, right?
Congratulations to you both, who will soon have a baby.
Thanks for your kind words and wishes :) We had a great time on the island and the food was delicious indeed. Cheers!
Madeira is paradise! Everything here seems spectacular from that colorful flowers to that mesmerizing blue seas.😍
By the way, congratulations on your honeymoon and the pregnancy!
Thank you for checking out this post and for the nice wishes, I really appreciate it! :)
You're welcome.
Congrats on your marriage, yayyy!!! Looks like I missed great news 😉
Every single photo is just fascinating!
When I saw "cold and rainy Prague" my first guess was you're sharing memories but no, it is now. So weird indeed. We had +37 on the weekend here in Kyiv, I can't remember if the temperature was so high ever and it was terrible.
Thank you my friend! :) Cold and rainy indeed! Very unusual... The past couple of summers were mostly unbearably hot here in Central Europe but this August has been shockingly cold and rainy so far. Very weird that in Kyiv, which is actually not that far from here, you had such high temperatures... The climate is obviously messed up big time... I hope it´s already colder in your area.

Can you please tell me what's these scary creatures man? These looks like kinda fish but more like a lake monster in myths XD
That Ronaldo looks good you can't hear more from a Messi fan 😂😂
Those monsters are black scabbards, it´s a deep sea fish species :) Honestly, the CR7 statue doesn´t really look much like him :D You will see that in the close up picture that I took there :D But yeah, Madeira is not a recommended destination for Messi fans :D You can get in trouble for just mentioning his name :D
It's between us man, Madeirans not going to know about that idea 😂😂
:DD ...ok!
I am really looking forward to your stories and your photographs! I have never been to Madeira but I believe it might be the most beautiful place in Europe!
Thank you! Well, I haven´t been everywhere in Europe of course so I cannot tell if it´s the most beautiful place indeed but it surely is one of the most beautiful ;) Cannot wait to promote this charming island in my future posts. Thanks for stopping by Sascha!
You have shared some amazing mountain and landscape photography as well as some beautiful flower photography which looks great.
Spectacular shots mate! Would love to visit Madeira at some point!
Thanks! I hope you will make it there, it´s one of those photographers´ heavens :)
Wow, really beautiful stuff and great photo quality!
Thanks Andy! Btw are you and your family ok? I have heard of the devastating floods in your country :(
Hey!
We are all OK, thanks for asking.
But yes, many aren't. It was quite shocking scene all over whole country. Fortunatelly, bigger cities were lucky with floods.
With the images and your explanation of Madeira, I feel like going there.
The place looks very beautiful
It is somewhere I would love to be.
Well, I haven´t written much about the island yet but thank you. More posts about Madeira coming soon so stay tuned :)
What a teaser 😀!!
Thanks! It´s actually pretty easy to make a cool teaser from shots taken at such a special place :)
Oh wow, can’t wait to see more of this island.
It looks awesome 😎
Thanks for giving us this sneak peek 🫣
I love it when places are so lush and green and lots of history…
Have a nice Tuesday. 👋🏻
Here it has been raining since early July. July went on records for the wettest month since they started recording. And you know Ireland is wet… imagine now ☔️☔️☔️
Weird weather everywhere at the moment it seems.
Thank you for your kind feedback! I love lush and green places too. Too bad all the greenery here in my country will soon be gone again as autumn will take control...
Wettest month in the Irish history?! After you just moved there? No way! I´m sorry! That sounds like it has been raining literally every single day since you guys moved there :(
You are welcome @phortun 👋🏻😊
I am the same. I love green areas… being surrounded by it all year. Ireland sounds like a place for you to explore a bit more 😉
Yep… and everybody knows how wet Ireland is. So it wasn’t fun in July.
I moved 7 May had a lovely June… and July was just crazy. Don’t think we had 2 dry days.
Let’s hope it changes and it gives us some relief from the rain. Not the weather to explore mountain trails either. Will be fine… though. We make the best out of it.
I hear you. I do love green places too but not so cold and rainy :D I think the Azores were kind of the limit for me in this regard. A lot of rain, temperatures mostly around 15 C but still a lot of opportunities to explore the stunning nature over there :)
Hope you will finally get some sun too, it´s still summer after all! :D
Yes me too.
Luckily Ireland isn’t tooooo cold and very temperate.
Yes, those temperatures you can explore enough.
Summer… what is that hahaha 🤣
Have a great weekend!
Waooo, awsome place. I also wants to visit such type places, full of interesting views.
Madeira is full of interesting views, I hope you will get to see for yourself one day :)
Interesting to see places very green and other dry. This is quite common of many volcanic islands.
Will you go to the island of Porto Santo?
Thanks for sharing.
From what we saw, the vast majority of Madeira is lush and green and only some parts are dry and barren. No, we didn´t make it to Porto Santo. Hopefully next time :) Thanks for stopping by my friend!
How are the newly weds doing?😊😊 and I hope the pregnancy is going smoothly.
All the best to you guys!
We are fine, just want to go back to the island :D Thanks for asking :)
You are welcome and I wish you guys all the best😃

Oh @phortun friend, welcome back to Prague ;)... Certainly the weather is quite "weird" everywhere on the planet!... But you had a beautiful visit to Madeira... Thank mate! You are right, the weather seems to be messed up everywhere. Even on Madeira! It was hot and sunny every day of our stay and the locals said it was very unusual. Because usually, it rains a lot on the island, even in summer... That´s why it´s so lush and green :) Yesss, I saw the famous CR7 statue that actually doesn´t look like him much :D I will write a separate post about Ronaldo and his special relations with this island ;) Thanks for your kind feedback and support! Saludos!

Madeira is a very picturesque and beautiful place, its architecture and landscapes enchant. I was very struck by the scary animal heh heh, is it a deep sea fish, it has an impressive eye, how amazing.
I hope you can come back soon, but, for now, take care of your wife in her pregnancy, so the baby will be born healthy and strong.
Thank you very much for checking out the pictures and leaving this nice comment here :) The scary animal is a deep sea fish indeed, it´s actually called the black scabbard :)
What beautiful photos, I liked them very much. I'm dying to see Madeira, every time I see pictures taken there, it makes me want to teleport if only it were possible.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us.
Greetings! ✨
Thank you! Well, teleport is something I have been impatiently waiting for too! :D Traveling will be soooo much easier once someone finally comes up with this iconic invention :)
How nice it would be if what is beautiful would last longer, hehe.
I think the difference in climate between Madeira and Prague is significant, I'm sure you would have stayed there for at least a few more minutes or days😉
Awww your photos are amazing very expressive I'm glad you went to so many places and took us with you.
Oh man, we would totally stay for more weeks, months or even years, just like we did when we lived as digital nomads :) Hopefully, we will come back to the island for more in future...
Glad that you liked the images! Thanks for checking them out!
You're welcome!
Congratulations @phortun on your marriage 👏👏 God bless your union🙏☺️
How nice that you were able to enjoy your honeymoon, the photos look very nice. I will be keeping an eye out for more of those beautiful places.
Thanks for your kind wishes! Very nice of you :) Yeah, more Madeira posts coming soon so stay tuned :) Saludos!
Wow, awesome shot's and congratulations as well.
Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed this little teaser :)
OMG! I’m currently visiting Madeira and getting almost same pics!
Madeira is impressive!
Oh really? Let me see :)
Looks stunning! What a wonderful way to begin your married life together. Congratulations!
Thank you very much! :)
This place is really worth visiting and the way you have visited with your wife here we can see that you are having a lot of fun seeing so many scenic spots all these places are very beautiful. Looking more beautiful.
Thanks for your feedback man, I´m glad that you found this post interesting :) More coming soon!
Most welcome dear and waiting for new one.
Those scary creatures look.. scary for sure, lol!
They do! But I thought you would be more interested in the mountains :) They are beautiful. Very green and pretty tall too, the highest peak is 1,861 m above the sea level. Not bad for such a little island.
My heart will always be with the mountains, lol, but those creatures stole got my attention as I don't see them everyday in posts on here haha
I see :) That´s right :D
The photos says it all on how beautiful this place is! Congratulations on your honeymoon and thank you for sharing, @phortun! 😊
This was actually just a tiny little teaser, I have many more pictures to post but even those longer posts will not be enough to do real justice to the beauty of this island. But I will still try :) Thanks for stopping by!
Can't wait to read your detailed blogs! 😍
Viva Ronal... Oh wait! :/
Teď už jen Viva Garnacho. :D
Hele totálně to podělal prostě.

No už sa neviem dočkať 🙂

I can see you had a great time in Madeira, eh? 😎👍
we are very familiar to that island here in Venezuela because there's a big portuguese colony here and almost 90% of them are from Madeira hahaha
Hahaha I know that! Many Madeira locals have some family members or friends in Venezuela, it was quite surprising for me actually :) I would expect Brazil because of the language but why Venezuela? :D
Hahaha, well, I have no idea 🤣🤣🤣🤔 but perhaps it was because at the time when most of the Portuguese, Spanish and Italians immigrated to Venezuela due to the Second World War and post-war poverty (we are talking about the 40s, 50s and 60s), the economy of Venezuela it was more developed than the one in Brazil because of the oil and all that.
I see, that sounds reasonable. But obviously, young people from Madeira go to Venezuela even these days, which is kind of strange, considering the situation in your country... Maybe it´s because there already is a big Madeiran community and they like to stick together ;)
Yes, you see, most of the people who have emigrated from Venezuela are Venezuelans, very few of the foreigners have left, they love this country even more than the Venezuelans, they have been working here all their lives and their children and grandchildren were born in Venezuela. The Portuguese have a lot of business here, they are very hard workers and we associate them with bakeries hahaha. They use to go to Madeira on vacation but they don't like to stay there 🤭🤭🤭
What can we do? 🤷🏻♀️ Venezuela is magical 😍💛💙❤️😎
That´s interesting :) Thanks for sharing this little insight into the Portuguese / Venezuelan situation with me :)
You're welcome @phortun , thank you

Sounds and looks already like you guys had a wonderful time here. Amazing place to spend the honeymoon! 😍😍
We did :) Thank you for stopping by and checking out the pictures!
Ofc I checked the pictures! You left us quite intrigued here hehe. 😄
Beautiful place! I'm glad you have had a good time before baby coming because after this, things can become a bit harder.
It was the same for us. We were in Canada for two months before having Caleb and I am so bappy we had that.
With a small child...travel its not the same. Neither the life is as before, haha.
Anyways, you know what I mean.
Have a great day tmr!
Thank you. Well, most of my friends already have kids so I think I have some idea :D But yeah, it will be a very new experience for us. We have been basically traveling around the world light-heartedly for the past decade but that all will change now...
Thats nice. We have a limited number of friends with kids and its kind of not nice sometimes. 😄
Yeah...well at least you have a decade of traveling without kids. Thats really cool, if you'd ask me.
Well, you are a young mum so you will be able to travel when your son is grown up. I mean we will be able to do that as well, hopefully, but by that time we will be... well, not so young, to put it mildly :D Having kids early and having kids late both have its pros and cons, like everything in life ;)
Yeah. Young is relatively 😆😆. But yes, I'm a bit younger than you I guess and I was much younger when I had my baby.
Yes, agree with you here. But every couple out there has their moment to become parents. Its just things are. For others this time is earlier, for other later in life.
I am in my 30s and I already feel old. 😆😆😆😆 damn...when did time go?
Well, I´m in my 30s as well but not for much longer :D But I thought you were younger. You definitely look younger :) My wife has the same "issue" like you :) Sometimes, they don´t even want to sell alcohol to her in the supermarket as they don´t believe she is an adult already :D
Hahhaa. Well, lets just say I'm in my early 30s. But not just 30, there is some plus on it, though definitely younger than you. 😄😄
Well, then you're in luck with a beautiful lady. ❤️
Take care and thanks for everything, its quite some time since we follow each other and keep in touch! 😊
I cant wait to hear your dad stories! I like how we "grow" around hive. Hehe
God what amazing pictures, I know madeira in some pictures but your post showed me pretty well how beautiful it is for a small island.
This was just a tiny little teaser, a good photographer with decent equipment and enough time can easily take thousands of stunning shots on this magical island :) Thanks for stopping by!
