Our first visit to this place of wonders.

If you like good food, wine and landscapes, this place is for you.

That building was our target, and I took some shots on our way up to it.

I will not give away much about the building, as this post is only to show you some sights on our way up to it. A sneak peek to arouse your curiosity. All that I can say is that it is a wine estate that has a great history behind it. But until my next post, I will show you some great sights that we encountered on our way up.

I have taken more that 100 shots at the place, and that's why I said that this post is only a teaser. Tomorrow in the second post, I will show you what we saw inside the building, and also the stunning views around it. There was so much to see, that I could do a full month's posts on it, but I will not as I will only show you the things that grabbed our attention.

But wait, as I saw something in that tree.

Can you see it? Look at the blue line in the center of the photo.
162.JPG

Ah! It was a Jackal Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus) bird of prey.
159.JPG

He seemed to look at us in the car, but we were far away.

How's this for a landscape?

And then there was also a dam on the property.

Check out this peaceful shot that I got of the life on the dam. A pair of Egyptian geese, sleeping in the morning sun on a float, and a Coot swimming across in the background.

And then, we were getting closer to the building.

I have another exciting announcement to make. We encountered a great guy at the building's entrance, and an immediate friendship ensued. I think the fact that we only had coffee, alerted him that we were not ordinary luncheon visitors. He not only gave me permission to take photos, but at our departure also announced that he will book a tour of the wine cellar below the building for us. And so, we left the place very excited after I took shots from that balcony.
So, we shall wait for a tour booking, and of course I will show it to you.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

This sounds like an incredible adventure! The photos you've shared already are breathtaking, and I can only imagine how stunning the rest of your journey was. The landscapes are simply mesmerizing, and the wildlife encounters, like the Jackal Buzzard and the Egyptian geese, add another layer of magic to the trip.

I'm particularly intrigued by the historical wine estate. The mystery surrounding the building is effectively building anticipation for your next post. I'm eager to learn more about its history and see what treasures lie within.

The story of your encounter with the friendly local is heartwarming. It's a testament to the power of human connection and the unexpected joys of travel. I'm delighted that he offered you a tour of the wine cellar – that sounds like an unforgettable experience.

I'm eagerly awaiting your next post to see the inside of the building and the stunning views you mentioned. Thank you for sharing these glimpses into your journey – it's truly inspiring!

Thank you and it was indeed an adventure. All that I could think of was to get inside, so that I could get onto the open air balcony in order to get some views on camera. I am a regular poster of wildlife and am always on the lookout for whatever I can find.

I will only place two paintings in the next post tomorrow, as I want to show the dining rooms and everything else when we go on to the cellar tour. !LOL

I like the landscape view but the Egyptian goose also attracts my attention, he is very strong standing on one leg.

Thank you, and most of the wild bigger birds can stand on one leg. Mind you, small birds can also stand on one leg. !LOL

We don't drink wine, and coffee doesn't make us tipsy. !LOL

Did you hear about the Scooby Doo villain who became an Olympic swimmer?
He would have won, if it weren't for all those medaling kids!
