Build up to the latest storms.

The Cape is famous for its storms, and the news was that two severe cold fronts were on their way. An ideal opportunity for my camera.

I took the amazing photos on the 18th of May 2025, and you will see what I meant by amazing, as I have never seen sights like this before.

I have seen and posted many mountain and cloud scenes before, but I think that this tops them all. We had a strong sun halo view 2 days before, and weather predictions were that people should prepare for floods and falling trees. I can tell you that we were so stunned by the first cold front’s advancing clouds that I took more than 300 photos. At the first weird and beautiful sight, we jumped into the car and took a drive down to a local park that is closer to the mountains. As I am writing this now, 3 days later after the second cold front has landed, the rain is pelting down in buckets, and we are moored in our house.

Amazingly the wind was not very strong low down, and that eerie silence in nature was at play. Of course, in the higher thermals, it was quite different, as strong winds were dancing with the clouds, and it formed beautiful patterns in the sky. This is why I like to get out to take photos before the expected rain arrives, as the heavenly artwork is so amazing to see.

So, what do you think about heavens art on this day? We were overwhelmed by the views, as it was the first time after many attempts to share the advancing clouds of a storm. This time round there was a lull between the first and the landing of the second cold front. It was during that lull that we managed to get out, and I took more photos during this lull that I will show you some other time. When I downloaded the pictures from my camera onto the PC, the full beauty of the views was displayed and, as I said, I was mesmerized.

As usual now, the news will start to emerge about the flood damages and the havoc created by winds at 75kph on the coasts, never good to see and we can only hope and pray that no lives will be lost. But I think that over time, people have become used to the storms, as South Africans are hardy people and very innovative when it comes to planning to survive in storms. But of course, there are always unexpected dangers. Nature is one of the most powerful entities in this world, and at times it seems that it has no limits. But there is such beauty also to be seen.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

What's the difference between a rain gutter and a clumsy outfielder?
One catches drops, the other drops catches.

Now this is beauty...❤️🌍

One really can't compare it.

Simply wondrous.

Rainy season is everywhere though, thankfully y'all have strong warnings before a storm comes.
Over here, in the south of Nigeria can start all sunny then one would here a roar of thunder and rain falling like bricks with winds willing, ready and sometimes capable to carry you to wherever 😂🫠

Hopefully no one is hurt at your end stay safe...

Incomparable indeed, especially with the mountains that add character to the shots.
We have many such unexpected incidents, and normally I always get wet. !LOL

Those clouds are spectacular indeed, I can just imagine seeing it with the naked eye must have out of this world! Nature is filled with so many wonders!
I've not watched the news, hope there's not going to be too much damage with these rains.
Stay safe my friend, and a warm hug to you and Marian!

Thank you, and it was indeed a great experience, so I took my time and took many photos of it. If I were to do only 6 photos in consecutive posts every day, it would last me for 5o months. !LOL
Maybe my arithmetic is no so great, as I took 300+ photos, but I would soon get bored by posting the same topic every day.

Lately I skip the headlines of the news, as most of it consists of bad stories, but I saw that there was the usual flooding in some townships, which is always a worry.
Thank you for the care and your warm hug is reciprocated.

The clouds are absolutely impressive, like a dramatic and painting in the sky. I love how you took advantage of the calm before the storm to capture those amazing moments.

Thank you, and nature has certainly surprised me with the art in the sky. One thing that I have learned over here, is that when an approaching storm is announced by the weather service, then the best photos can be taken of the storm's advancing clouds.
