A travel introduction post.

Our destination was a town called Hopefield. We took a two day break to drive up there, but we found much more than we expected.

The tag picture was taken at the fossil museum, but we also visited many other places.

I have made some files of the photos that I took on our journey and of the many places that we visited in the town of Hopefield. Of course, it was a long journey and we had to pass through two other towns on the way and the second town, called Darling, was delightful. At Darling they host a famous wildflower show every year, but sadly we were one week too late as all the flowers have closed.
So, in here as an introduction, and I will show you one picture of every place that we visited.

The yellow line on the map will show our travel path, although the town where we lived is not on the map, as it is much lower down. At number 1 we had already travelled 50 kilometers, passing Stellenbosch town and the Paarl town.
Number 1 in the yellow circle is the approach to Malmesbury, number 2 is the road to Darling and number 3 is Hopefield.

Malmesbury Town.
This is the road through Malmesbury and we only stopped briefly to take some photos that I will show you in detail later from my first file.

Darling Town.
We stopped at an old farmhouse cum restaurant that grabbed our interest for some coffee and toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches.

Hopefield Town.
Finally, we reached Hopefield and this was where the fun began.

Here below are all of the places that we visited in Hopefield town.

Simply Bee. This is the reason why my wife wanted to come to Hopefield, as it is the home of Simply Bee and the purest of honeys.

Plaasmol (Farm mole) Nursery.
This is a nursery such as we have never seen before, and you will be mightily surprised at an unexpected happening here when I do the post of this nursery. I mean, what can happen at a nursery? Don't be fooled, as it is not what you think :)

Copper Kettle.
We were advised to visit a restaurant called Copper Kettle.

The Fossil Museum.
And this is the reason why I wanted to come to Hopefield, as I wanted to visit the old Fossil Museum. (See also the tag, (First), picture).

The Blacksmith Cottage.
This was the view from the cottage where we stayed for 2 nights.

As I said before, I have a file for each of these places and I will do a series of posts of each of the files on its own.
Oh! And some road photos will also be included of our travel between the towns.
Such as this one below and many more.

Many have asked me over time to show them more of the Western Cape Province in South Africa. This particular visit was to the West Coast and in the Saldanha Bay Municipality. There are 5 district municipalities and the 5 are divided into 24 local municipalities in the Western Cape, and we plan to visit most of them in short excursions. Head spinning stuff as then the main Municipality is the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality.

It was a very adventurous trip, as we left our house in the rain and on the way to Hopefield we encountered more rain, mist, and blustery winds. But it was so worth it. A guy even advised me of a short-cut from Darling to Hopefield, if I were brave enough to travel for 24km on a dirt road. Of course, I was brave enough and very soon cursed my decision once we were on the dirt road. It rattled the car for 24km's and some rattles were so severe that it turned out to be a tighten your bra straps and hold onto your teeth road :)
I call it more drifting than driving, but we finally made it.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the introduction.

What a great drive to Hopefield, a picturesque town with lots to visit. Each photograph takes us into this place, where you can feel the magic and the purest honey.
Nice place.

Nice drive through, except the dirt roads after rain become guttered, exceptional 'slip and slide' conditions that makes you feel you riding a wild bull.

Sometimes wonder what the prehistoric animals would think seeing these ugly barren lands with monster air wind mills replacing the forested beauty of yesteryear.

Oh yeah, you know all about it and then the muddy parts of the road are a "drifting and gliding"situation !LOLZ

Oy, those windmills are big close up as we have never been so close to them. Mankind is forever changing the things in nature with the false word of progress, but in the meantime all of their efforts are for profit. When the last crow crow's and the last fish swims, then we will receive nature's rewards.

Look what the stormy high tide left on the beach today. A mile long line of mankind's flowers.

Thank you for the tip.
