Winter visitors in our garden ☃️🌳🌲 ~ WednesdayWalk

Hi all 👋🏻

Join me today as we walk around our garden to discover some of the visitors that visited us over the last 2 weeks. As you all know we got the first snow on 1 November already… it had defrosted a little bit, but this week we get about 1/2 meter more snow again. ☃️😁 Yesterday and today it is snowing a lot 🌨️🌨️🌨️ I love it!

Today’s photographic selection will be of 24 PHOTOGRAPHS.

I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my #adventures on this #walk, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.

Wrap up warm and come along… ❄️☃️

We will walk along the back of our cabin towards the veggie garden…
We see a #track 🐾🐾🐾 #paw #prints in the #snow. Here the snow was about 8 cm deep.

We look at the strawberry path 🍓🍓🍓 some plants are peeking 🫣 through the snow ❄️

As we follow the #tracks 🐾🐾🐾🐾 we see it is larger than a cat 🐈, I would say a medium large feline. Maybe the lynx again? I had not seen any evidence of it visiting our garden. Although I did discover last winter its tracks up the mountain behind our cabin in the forest. Maybe you remember that post 😊

This was 8 November 🐾🐾🐾

Looking over the strawberry patch again. Can’t wait till spring as I have rejuvenated the 3 rows, so I hope to get lots of strawberries 🍓 next season.

Walking through the garden on 12 November… yes… we can jump between days in this walk 😉
We see a large bird visited our garden.

The feline tracks from a few days ago are also still visible… the snow slowly defrosts. We have temperatures from around 8 degrees but the ground is still frosty and very cold 🥶
I like these foot prints… they are cool 😎 🦅🐦‍⬛🦅🐦‍⬛

In the evening we see sparkles ✨ everywhere along the icy drive way…. The #ice 🧊 and snow is glistering… it was hard to capture but I managed 😊

On 16 November we had some new visitors. A eurasian jay found our bird feeders… he is sitting on the ground to search for all the fallen nuts and sunflower seeds. 😊
His foot prints are not big enough for the ones I saw on the other side of the garden…

The bull finches are always here. Summer or winter. I counted about 6 couples in the last weeks. So there are coming more and more 🥰

This cutie is also joining his friends 😊 last Monday

I have been busy on 18 November… I have put up some lights and these twinkle lights ✨✨✨ are on the entrance side to dress up for the season. It also gives us a bit more light as it is already dark at 14:30h now.

We wander further and look at our tree with the bird feeders in it… this was yesterday morning. Loads of little visitors 🐦‍⬛🐤🪶 enjoying their meal. I love watching them 😊

So cute 😊 they are hungry with the cold and snowy days.

Some sparrows (4) joining the bullfinches. We see 3 males and one female bullfinch.

2 other visitors….

At 1400h today it still is snowing 🌨️ the trees behind the cabin in our forest are getting a thick layer of snow on the branches 🌲🌲🌲☃️☃️☃️

It is such a beautiful sight 😊 it feels like Christmas 🎄

As you can see the snow is covering more and more… building up a good layer again. Luckily our visitors keep coming.

Love it when I can capture them in motion 🐦‍⬛ oh I so wish I could invest in a bigger lens for my camera to capture them close up… but hey… life and such gets in the way currently and for a while I guess. 🫣

We walk further to the front and see how the colours change at 14:30h today… soon it will be dark.

I just measured how much snow we have today and it is about 10 cm of snow at 15:18h on 20 November… wooohhoooo ☃️
Looking forward to more 🌨️🌨️🌨️ as I want to built some snowman ⛄️ and snowanimals…

An outside camera with motion sensor probably would worth the investment.

Probably it would give you a few surprise photos and videos.

Maybe it would record other animals too from time to time.

For example foxes, raccoons, etc.

I was planning to get one for sure. Would love to know what crawls around the cabin.
We don’t have raccoons 🦝 here but bears, fox, lynx etc we do.

All the footprints of the visitors are lovely but seeing those gorgeous birds is even nicer :))

The lights are cosy, it already brings some Christmas vibes, and it is perfect in combination with the snow! 👌

EU haha us Americans have trouble relating. Very cool footprints though. We have bobcats and supposedly some mountain lions but I have only seen bobcats. There are lynx a little farther north. Its always big news when a lynx wonders this far south. I guess I shouldn't complain about it being dark at 4pm 😆

Forgot… it is 6,5 US Size in my shoes 😊
That’s very cool too. I wish I would see them one day. I am seriously considering a wildlife cam.
It get’s shorter and shorter for the next weeks. Will keep an eye on how much light we have in the hight of the winter.

A lot of visitors at your place, but with a free buffet, I can understand them... I can't believe all the snow you've already had, it doesn't even freeze at night here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a white Christmas 🤞.

Yes, they are so cool to figure out what has been around. The birds love it here hahaha 🤣 I see so many different ones. Most migratory ones flew over already after a stop for food.
I just went out on the porch… the front door was rather snowed in… so far 15 cm new snow yesterday and last night, I guess it is deeper on the ground.
I hope you will get a snowy Christmas 🎄 I know for sure we will have snow until June now 😎

It's already dark at 14:30? Wow I wonder how the likes of me that work out will cope when they have to work shorter hours because it gets dark at 14:40. Just wondering 🤔

And it only gets darker earlier… dark here is truly dark, pitch black. One can’t see anything as there are no lights or light pollution outside. I think we will go as short as only 4 hours of light… will know soon.
People that work or drive outside have a lot of big lights on their vehicles. To drive or work. No other way to do it.

Thank you so much Joe, I just measured the snow on the porch… it is now 15cm deep. On the ground it is deeper… but I didn’t want to go further as it is stormy with heavy winds right now. ☃️❄️🌨️🎄

Interesting about 4 hours of day light is very small lol. I'd Ike to experience such.

Currently it gets dark from 9pm here so we are getting lots of day light.

That's a lot of snow, now that I have experienced snow this year, I have a better understand.
You should stay warm and enjoy your coffee ☕️.

I better get my bird feeder in better shape, I have a line of Blue Jays to keep fed and coming by my window each year if I don't. I was told we had a tiny snowfall the other night. I missed it, It was already gone before I or most local around here noticed it. It's after 10 pm, and 6 Celsius. Snow is rare in the Southwest coast of Canada at this time of the year.
A wet Christmas is expected much more here than a white one 😄

How wonderful they come to your place… they will love the food.
Yes, I read. Also England had a dusting of snow.
Here it is white since the first of November.
Last night we had 15cm of snowfall again. I just measured the balustrade on the porch.
We get about half a meter this week. Will be interesting.
I haven’t had many white Christmas days but here… for sure it will be white.

I hope it won’t be too wet at yours. Maybe even a white one this year as the weather is so different lately, who knows 😁

What great shots! I'm from the Midwest USA and thought that living in the Middle East I would be glad to do without the snow this year... Instead I miss it (although I do NOT miss shoveling). It was nice to get a taste of winter in your post, I've always appreciated animal tracks in the snow a whole lot 😍

Hey, the other day you mentioned that you and your husband have had to move all around to be able to reside in the same country, have you ever written a post about your experience with that? Would love to read about your journey!

Thank you so much, happy I could share this snow with you.
The tracks are pretty cool. Not sure how much linger the animals can walk through it as it is getting a lot. It is very light and fluffy. So people and animals sink in deep. Hahaha

I have written posts about our moves (some every half year or so…) and problems along the way. I am still writing about our last move, it comes in 11 parts… I will post soon part 9. We made it into a road trip last February and moved / drove 🚗 from Ireland our selves… ferries crossings and driving through many countries. I haven’t told hive yet where we ended up 😎

Really… maybe some will find them.
Here nobody was feeding the birds when we arrived. It took a while… now… the birds come from far to eat 😊
I can imagine.
Everything was iced over this morning. Even the outside of the cabin was covered in ice crystals ❄️

Not sure… haven’t seen any around here yet.
I did see 6 magpies half an hour ago at the feeders. I looked but the prints were not large enough.
