❄️ It is still winter wonderland in April ~ Come explore with me an icy lake at Kamsjön, Västerbotten ~ SWEDEN 🇸🇪

IMG_6892.jpeg
Let’s explore with me an ICY lake and its surroundings. I walked around it last week as I so needed a little break from renovating the cabin. Some of you know that I am really busy with it and don’t go out a lot, as there is a deadline… So for a little break I went for a walk. It was rather cold as the wind was harsh. This didn’t make me change my mind though. Let’s wrap up really warm and come along! We will see some awesome wintery views along this lake, the forests around us, little huts in the middle of nowhere that are about to collapse and some holiday cabins scattered around the lake. You can also see that it started to defrost… so we “finally” see some ground after a long winter. (read; so far 6 months of snow and ice it feels forever…) This beautiful lake is located ~ in Kamsjön, Västerbotten County, in northern SWEDEN 🇸🇪

With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge today. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.
‼️Have a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community if you want to join in!… the community is run by @tattoodjay
Look at his last Wednesdaywalk post. It will tell you also the rules of joining in at the Wednesday walk posts. 😁 Do come join us!

Today’s photographic selection will be of 28 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date : 8 April 2025
The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to discover everything what I saw, like the little details seen through my eyes. 🙂

Location of the lake we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps:
IMG_6183.jpeg

Zooming out we see it is rather north in Sweden:
IMG_6184.jpeg

Are you wrapped up well? Ok, let’s go…

On the little stretch of sand next to the small road that runs through this area we find this setup. A picnic table and some chairs.
The sign reads; “Välkommen till Kamsjön” ~ “Welcome to Kamsjön”
There is no parking lot or anything but you can park the car next to the road. As long as the surface is hard enough to park on.
IMG_6877.jpeg

Our first views looking out over the lake. We see the sky is moody today. The wind is strong…
IMG_6876.jpeg

Along the edge next to us we see the thick ice on the lake started to melt.
IMG_6878.jpeg

We peek through the tall trees and see holiday cabins across the lake in the distance.
IMG_6879.jpeg

We walk a bit. It is quite… nobody around. Not even at the cabins. Just us and nature.
IMG_6880.jpeg

We see a little bit of blue sky coming through in the distance.
IMG_6881.jpeg

Walking further we are getting closer to the cabins and can take a better look at them. What a stunning location they have.
IMG_6882.jpeg

Looking out along the length of the lake now. As you can see the forests are thick and reach all the way to the edge of the lake.
IMG_6884.jpeg

Some snowmobile tracks on the ice are slowly fading away as the ice is starting to melt. It will still take a while to go fully.
IMG_6885.jpeg

The colours of the ice are stunning. Hard to capture on my iPhone. There is a blue tone to it.
IMG_6886.jpeg

As we walk and walk we see the cabins better. I see solar panels on the roof. They will be fully off grid. Some canoes next to the cabins.
IMG_6888.jpeg

I like the location of the next cabin. A bit more protected with the trees around. I can imagine sitting on those garden chairs on the little deck haha.
IMG_6889.jpeg

Bbrrr it is getting cold. We walk a bit faster now. The wind makes it so icy… walking faster will keep us warm.
IMG_6890.jpeg

We cross the little road when we reach the end of the lake and we are looking out over some marsh lands. We see a small hut through the trees.
IMG_6893.jpeg

The sky is very moody now and reflects beautifully in the water. As you can see, less snow and ice on this side. The water isn’t deep here so it has had the opportunity to defrost quicker.
IMG_6894.jpeg

Zooming out you can take in this view fully… what a scenery…
IMG_6896.jpeg

I zoom in on the small hut. You can see literally through the wooden planks. Love this photo of it. The vegetation is still flat as it had no time to regenerate yet. Soon this view will be snow free… soon spring will be there.
IMG_6898.jpeg

I Love the moody weather today. The ripples in the water… luckily you still see some reflections.
IMG_6900.jpeg

As we walk further we see more nature. The land and trees peeking through from underneath the snowy blanket. That has been covering it for 6 months so far. Nature will awaken… in just a few weeks.
IMG_6901.jpeg

It almost looks like the sun wants to break through the clouds.
IMG_6902.jpeg

It makes for some atmospheric captures. I love moody scenery. My favourite time to go out and shoot.
IMG_6903.jpeg

Yes, I couldn’t help capturing more of the little hut. It is just so photogenic.
IMG_6910.jpeg

Ok ok… we walk further now.
I see this large tree.
IMG_6915.jpeg

It shelters the nature around it. Did you know the area right around the trees will defrost first?
IMG_6917.jpeg

More snow but no ice anymore on the water of the marsh lands on this side.
IMG_6918.jpeg

Almost did the sun manage… but the clouds are holding it back. We just walk and take in the beautiful scenery.
IMG_6919.jpeg

One more view… before we get too cold.
IMG_6920.jpeg
Heading back to the car now, as we have a long drive back home…
Bye bye now, until next time.

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.

How are you, dear friend @littlebee4? Good morning.

It's always good to take a break from activities and go out for recreation, walking through places that make us feel good. You just have to bundle up.

It's impressive to see the frozen lake; the trio there is extreme.

Beautiful photographs. I appreciate you sharing this Wednesday hike experience.

Good afternoon @jlufer my dear friend. How are you?
It sure is good to take a break. I loved going on this walk even though it was so cold.
Thank you so much for appreciating. Happy to share my adventures.
Luckily the defrosting continues and soon we can go deeper in the forests.
Have a fantastic day.

Beautiful frozen landscape in gorgeous photographs. Here in Cuba, we can also feel the remnants of winter. The temperature remains pleasantly cool.

The view is so beautiful, you are very lucky to be able to enjoy it directly. Too bad, in my place there is no season like that, all I can enjoy is rain and hot sun🤣

Thank you @reachdreams 😊 I am enjoying it all here so far up north as long as I can.
A shame there are no seasons at yours… just rain and hot weather. One does get used to it all.
I am glad I can share this icy and snowy landscape with you a little relief from the weather there.
Have a lovely day.

Gotta get out there. We almost never let the weather keep us from walking. Otherwise you can't exist in the frozen north. Love the little hut on the marsh. The zoom shot that captured the details of the wood planks is my favorite. You should visit us in tropical Vermont. 36F and snowing today but maybe a 70F day on Saturday ☀️

I know 😔 I wished I had more hours in a day hahaha
It is not the weather that keeps me inside. One can dress for it. 😎
Main priority right now is finishing up the renovations. Most rooms are done. Just kitchen floor and skirting boards left. Hallway floor plus skirting boards. And restoring the entire staircase… it is a mess.
I won’t manage to make the deadline. That is coming Wednesday. It would have been nice, but I almost made it. So our plans changed a lot for the next months.
Next week we go on holidays to recover my back a bit, and visiting friends in the Mediterranean. We stay a few weeks… once we come back in May, all refreshed. I will finish up all the works and some outside repairs on the cabin. The snow will have been gone by then, I hope hahaha so garden tidying too.
Then it is packing boxes 📦 and we move again… such is life. Things don’t go always like planned and priorities shift. I do miss my walks and exploring a lot in the last months.
I will share the renovations per room one day soon… I documented it all. Plus some walks I did do.

Thank you, that little hut was something special. It looked so good. I almost made that shot the thumbnail.
Haha I wish I could. Your seasons are beautiful. What a difference though. A big jump.
Enjoy spring. Have a lovely day @steven-patrick

and visiting friends in the Mediterranean

!!!!! that sounds wonderful

I've never asked because I don't usually ask personal questions... certainly not online. But whats the renovation job plan? you getting rent for renovations? you paid to restore then finish the job and move to the next one? you flippiing the place after fixing up? so many different ways to do it. Share as little or nothing if you want 😉

Oh I so can’t wait. Counting the days. Thank you.

Haha I understand… some things are better not said on-line. I don’t mind this question. It is a work for less rent kind of thing.
Have a wonderful easter weekend!

A cold winter day with winds can be too cold 🥶. You might have to do a lot of convincing for me to go walking in such cold lol. But the views can be tempting considering I like natural views.

A lot of great artistic shots 📸 from this walk Jackie, well done 👏

You really needed the outdoor walk though it's been weeks of renovating the cabin for you.

Haha you know what, it is so worth it going out to see views like this.
For the cold, one can dress up well. The cold here is not wet cold but a dry cold. Sooo different.

Thank you Joe, I really enjoyed this walk and the views. I took so many photos haha especially from the little hut. It was cute and the moody light was just perfect.

It was just right. I saw 2 big moose 🫎 today next to the road. Sadly I didn’t manage to capture them.
We went out, not to the coast but further up north 1,5 hours for a walk. It was crazily warm… 17 degrees Celsius. So not common for here let alone even further north.
