World Animal Day - Let's hope they get the love & respect they deserve

I celebrate it every year this date, and I never forget it also (because a dear person has birthday on this date, so we have always made fun of him on this day)

It is a year when I choose to do something (more) for stray animals around me and this year I also have another inspiration, so I will announce it later depending on the outcome of it.

For now, I have chosen to share some of my favorite (amateur) photos of pets and not pets, cats but not only, that have crossed roads with me.

When you do not go out so often, the animals you see the most tend to be the ones you have at home, or feed in the neighborhood, so we will mostly see these below and I will explain under every photo.

"When curiosity takes you places… but forgets to plan the way back down."

This, is my baby.
His name is Dobby but I call him Psi, and he listens.

A couple of days ago he climbed up my curtains ... and when I saw him I could only take two photos and then I tried to get him down safely... I hope someone else was here to take a video. Well, can you guess how I got him down or .. what would you do??

This photo is shot by me, but the room was dark, so I used AI to enhance it
Fun story. After I posted it on instagram, my mom called me to tell me
"Is this real? How did he get up there? Did he ruin the curtains? How did he come down? hahaha

This is one of the strays I occasionally feed. I saw this during my today's walk and decided to shoot this, I liked the way it looked as if the cat was simply sitting, enjoying the blue view across..

I preferred to put it in bnw because I did not like the colored one.

You know her, I call her mavri (which means black) but her real name is Keili. She was a total stray before I found her and brought her to my home..

I like taking photographs of stray cats, sometimes I try not to annoy them. If they are hungry they usually come towards me, but often they just stare as proud creatures that they are!

These are some of my favorite shots, always at the same spot. We see Rico on the right, with Pepper sitting hidden behind him :) On the left side, Mavri was in a rush to come find me!!

Cicadas.. we mainly hear them in the summer time..
Greek cicadas spend only a few weeks in the sunlight, just long enough to mate, lay eggs, and complete the cycle. The rest of their lives are hidden underground. Heck of time management, right?

The 3 eared cat, then you see the brother of Chioni, Kiki and the best dog in Eastern Crete, trying to find some cool place (and he did!)

IMG_0048.jpegIMG_0475.jpegIMG_9602.jpeg

Insects ... they are everywhere around us. We should not harm them because they are very useful for our ecosystem.

Why?

Because they pollinate plants, recycle nutrients, enrich soil, control pests, and provide food for many other species.

Not sure if I have mentioned it, I love bees!

IMG_0277.jpegIMG_1151.jpeg

I do not see seagulls or ducks so often, but I have decided to start doing some more excursions in the near future so I hope to see more of them!

Last but not least I have decided to upload photos of Psi when he was a little one and a little worm that I found on a corn when I bought it. I was a bit afraid, but I think it was more frightened than me. I took it gently and left it at a place with lots of green. I hope that he made it :)

Even little actions can make a difference if they happen by most of us.
Even saving a little ant can be very important if more of us do so.

As per Kazantzakis' Quote: “Love responsibility. Say to yourself: It is mine alone to save the earth, and if she is not saved, the fault is mine.

Νίκος Καζαντζάκης — 'Ν' αγαπάς την ευθύνη. Να λες: Εγώ, εγώ μονάχος μου έχω χρέος να σώσω τη γης. Αν δε σωθεί, εγώ φταίω.'

I hope that you enjoyed my post!

I've never seen a cat on the curtain! 😂 Usually when stuff like that happens I pick the steps, go up and make the cat go on my shoulders and then get down

I didn't know that day was today!

And very nice pictures

Hahaha he has climbed multiple times, but I usually see and bring him down before reaching the top. Well that time I did not see him 🥹

I got a big box, put a towel on the box and went up the couch (I am afraid of ladders)

He was so smart that he understood the assignment!

It is absolutely true that some of the videos we see on social media show that there are some countries where animals are treated very badly. So, all of us have to raise our voice against this because birds and animals are very beautiful and we should always respect and love them.

When a stray cat used to see you, it become tame. I really find cats as always amazing. They are cute creatures and soft too.
