Random Photos - Photo Practice

avatar

It's time for another round of random photos, without any connections between them, which meant to be a photo practice.

20230606_085246a.jpg

I saw these tiny rose buds in a part at the beginning of the month and I thought It would be great to take some macro photos.

20230606_085228a.jpg

Macro photos can be cool as you can capture the smallest details, but can also be disappointing and that's what happened to me too. I took two shots and the third one was a huge slap on my face, when I looked at the photo.

20230606_085258a.jpg

Poor roses were full of aphids. These were so small, you could not notice from a distance, but the camera never lies.

Then I saw this little daisy. These are tiny little flowers, so I used the macro lens on these too and look, there are pests on them too 🙁. This was private property, so I don't understand how can they just let these poor flowers suffer.

20230606_085413a.jpg

I was happy to see these little buds, they were so cute.

This orange lily is from our garden and it's a real beauty.

20230606_132211a.jpg

I'm a huge fan of orange, so obviously I like these a lot.

20230606_131618a.jpg

This should be another quiz for you, let's see if you can figure out what it is, but I don't want to stress you. This is the bud of the yukka flower. The flowers are white and are like bells. This photo was taken two weeks ago. Most likely next week I'm going to find them open already, or at least I hope so.

20230606_131935a.jpg

This is the nigella flower. Some years ago we had a lot in the front yard. The next day we did not want nigella and opted for something else, but mother nature has her own way and even without sowing any seeds, we got nigella everywhere. Turned out nigella is worse than weeds. It's invasive and you can hardly get rid of it. After so many years, here it is, still growing.

20230606_131946a.jpg

Kind of similar to Datura, or devil's trumpets as the latter is invasive as well, you can hardly get rid of these two. My dad got angry with me after the nigella episode. He said i brought two types of seeds and both are like pests 😂. He said he will never allow me to bring any flower seeds 🤣. Yeah right!

Enough with the flowers for now, let's focus on something else.

20230606_091643a.jpg

This is a medieval church door, that would look amazing, if it wasn't for the modern era updates. The alarm system kind of ruins its beauty, but I can't remove it as that would mean serious jail time and I'm not ready to commit that act. Will never be by the way :D

20230606_110919a.jpg

I should let you figure out what kind of bud this is, but I'm not that cruel so I'm going to reveal the big secret. It's the bud of the onion. Have you ever seen one?

20230606_152549a.jpg

Yeah, my wood obsession. I took a photo of a beam as I found this part interesting. Most likely there was a branch there and left a mark.

20230608_135531a.jpg

Raspberry leaves, with the beams in the background.

This is it for today and I hope you can pick one you like.

Your practice is much better than my regular photos. I like all of them, but my favorite is the church door. Not sure if you knew, but I dug out our old digital camera a couple weeks ago and have been playing with it some. Posted some practice pictures about a week ago with it Here. I would like to take some pics of our roses, but the insects have been eating at ours and they aren't looking all that great right now.

I wouldn't say so :)

That door is fantastic, but the cable and the alarm ruins it a bit.
I checked that post and you did great with the camera. keep it up, practice as much as you can as it worth it.
As about the insects, that's a shame.

It does take away from the classic look if a person foduses too much on them. I didn't give them much attention and focused more on the details of the door itself. It could also be a coparison of the clash between the modern and the old as well?

Thank you for the compliment. It has been raining a bit around here so haven't gotten out to take more pics much. I have a few more practice shots I snapped that may get posted in a day or two.

Yes, we have tried some spray, which I hate doing, but will see if that helps.

The lily is indeed nice. I thought the onion will look new to many. Well, this is how the onion flower starts. Maybe next week I can show you the flower as well.

I would love to see it. Funny how we only get to notice some plants when they're in full bloom or ready to be picked. After seeing this I got a reminder that the little things matter and every effort brings out something big even tho it takes a little time.

Well, all my blog is about what I like as that's the meaning of posting, otherwise it becomes boring and frustrating.

Random photos are always interesting, so maybe other will do this too.

Thank you @dicmerrivas.

Beautiful shots with your lens, very nice work, too bad the aphids are there and although you can't see them through the macro you could notice their presence.
We will miss the thrill of seeing what's behind that door because the alarm is there, maybe one day you will be given permission to photograph on those sides it would be interesting.
Wood is my mum's favourite. Regards
