Weaver ants and human influence
We all know how human involvement can change nature in one way or another, whether it is directly, but also indirectly. But at some point, nature also finds a way to make use of human involvement as the result of human activities. Maybe it is because we are humans is also part of nature, so whatever we do, nature will always find a way ma make use of it.
Look at the photo below, can you guess what is the human involvement on the kissing ants? Eh are they kissing? have a guess?
These weaver ants are using the white electric cable that somehow hanging low on the abandoned garden behind my house. I had never noticed that there was an electric cable there, not until I saw these weaver ants use them as a way for them to move from one place to the other, maybe from one tree to the other where this cable might be passing.
Walking on against the flow, the ant that was moving from the left isde might have a bigger mission to accomplish so that he decided to just do against the flow.
Maybe because he was too eager for a kiss?
But I don't think it was just an ordinary case, maybe it is a way for these ants to communicate with one another. and also they seem to not randomly kissing, because some they might just pass, the other they decided to kiss.
Here is an example where they just simply moving to the other direction without kissing. casually give way to one another in the road that human made.

These are brilliant Eka and remind me of fireants. I think it is incredible how different species communicate.
Mind you I would not mind communicating only by kissing lol
Yes, that one is pretty amazing. This one is not a fireants, but for sure it still hold quite a painful bite, especially if you accidentally climb a tree where they resides.
Hehe yes I didn't think they were, the colour reminded me of a firey colour 🔥
They are not kissing but doing what is called trophollaxis.

They are eating basically. Because it would be not efficient if each ant would go home to a central feeding place, if hungry. Instead some are full and walk around and as soon as a hungry one signalling it is hungry, it gets something via trophollaxis. It is a kind of decentralized feeding.
Thank you very much for adding the information. That is even more amazing isn't it? I really though that they are transferring some kind of message via this kiss, but they are transferring food instead.
nature is really full of surprises. ;)
If I am to imagine I would say: Maybe these ones are watchers to keep the herd safe and in line. Communicating findings by dropping some sort of biological liquid to the ground by "that act" which in turn to be retrieved as messages by the whole herd in line. :)

that is also make sense, the one who keeping the herd in order, so they can use the passage and doing the activities in well manner so thing will be done in much more efficient way. an order of something that we see as a little bit of chaos.
