Winterwonderland Cologne // Winterwunderland Köln

I recently met up with a good friend in Cologne, and we were actually surprised by the snow. It started out as a normal day, but then everything turned white within a very short time. This led to some shots that are already among my favorites for this year (haha). I think the atmosphere that snow creates in the city is just special.

Here are a few impressions from our walk.

1 – Microsoft Building in the Snow

Here you can see the Microsoft building in Cologne. I really like how the dark, modern architecture stands out against the white of the trees. The snow creates a really clean look that I find very strong.

2 – Microsoft Building From a Distance

This is also the Microsoft building, but from a slightly different perspective. The way the snow covers the branches in the foreground gives the image a nice frame. It shows how much the city atmosphere changes when it suddenly starts snowing like that.

3 – Statue in Front of the Church

This shot shows a statue in front of a church in Cologne. The snow on the figure and the stone makes the whole scene look very peaceful and almost a bit like time has stood still.

4 – Old Crane in Front of Crane Houses

A nice contrast: the old crane in the foreground and the modern crane houses in the back. Everything is covered in a light layer of snow, which makes the harbor atmosphere in the Rheinauhafen even more intense.

5 – Alaaf and the Cathedral

Classic Cologne. The "Alaaf" lettering and the Cologne Cathedral in the background. Despite the snow and the haze, you can clearly see the tips of the cathedral. Definitely a strong motif for me this year.

Ich habe mich neulich mit einer guten Freundin in Köln getroffen und wir wurden tatsächlich vom Schnee überrascht. Es fing als normaler Tag an, aber dann wurde innerhalb kürzester Zeit alles weiß. Dadurch sind ein paar Aufnahmen entstanden, die jetzt schon (höhö) zu meinen Lieblingsbildern für dieses Jahr gehören. Ich finde diese Stimmung, die Schnee in der Stadt erzeugt, einfach besonders.

Hier sind ein paar Eindrücke von unserem Spaziergang.

1 – Microsoft Gebäude im Schnee

Hier sieht man das Microsoft Gebäude in Köln. Mir gefällt extrem gut, wie die dunkle, moderne Architektur gegen das Weiß der Bäume absticht. Der Schnee sorgt für einen richtig sauberen Look, den ich sehr stark finde.

2 – Microsoft Gebäude aus der Ferne

Das ist ebenfalls das Microsoft Gebäude, nur aus einer etwas anderen Perspektive. Wie der Schnee die Äste im Vordergrund bedeckt, gibt dem Bild einen schönen Rahmen. Es zeigt gut, wie sehr sich die Stimmung in der Stadt ändert, wenn es plötzlich so anfängt zu schneien.

3 – Statue vor der Kirche

Diese Aufnahme zeigt eine Statue vor einer Kirche in Köln. Der Schnee auf der Figur und dem Stein lässt die ganze Szene sehr friedlich wirken und fast ein bisschen so, als wäre die Zeit stehen geblieben.

4 – Alter Kran vor den Kranhäusern

Ein schöner Kontrast: der alte Kran im Vordergrund und die modernen Kranhäuser dahinter. Alles ist mit einer leichten Schneeschicht überzogen, was die Hafenatmosphäre im Rheinauhafen noch intensiver macht.

5 – Alaaf und der Dom

Klassisch Köln. Der „Alaaf“ Schriftzug und im Hintergrund der Kölner Dom. Trotz des Schnees und des Dunstes erkennt man die Spitzen des Doms deutlich. Für mich definitiv ein starkes Motiv dieses Jahr.
