Waiting for the Light
A dear friend of mine, priest, has asked to me some pictures about light.
He wished to do some postcards for Christmas, to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I know, we are in spring, Christmas is far in time, but today I have found these pics to celebrate Light.
Light is very important in photography: the same place appears different and magic with right light. These pictures has been taken in the place of my daily life, except an himalayan sky at night: stars were like an uniform carpet, each point holds an entire world to dream.
Not only in photography, light is the metaphor of our inner inspiration. Sometimes we feel stressed and depressed, but there is always a light, a sound, a friendship, an hug that illuminated the soul. This is why I think watching a good pictures is not only watching a two dimensional image, but through that image we can feel something touching our deeper mind. Not just an aesthetics beauty, but the spark to take light in our dark thoughts, if only we can take a break from our frenetic life.
Here the postcard with the words that my friend has chosen to describe waiting for the light (Italian language):
And here English translation:
"Light is a simple word.
I love simple words, because they can't deceive us.
Light that descends and enters our house.
Because it is there where it arrives: in the place of our intimacy.
And that's where we can choose, whether to turn our backs on her or finally stop.
It is where Light filters.
Come down Gentile Light to illuminate my heart and my steps. With you."
The sea in Chiavari (Liguria, Italy):
Fields at sunset nearby Modena city:
One of my favorite tree, an oak in Miceno town...
... and Miceno towerbell, at twilight (long exposure):
Can we be able to stop and watch the sky, where our soul can watch itself, like a mirror?
