Photographic tour of our Alien Succulents

Hello dear Hivers, I hope you've had a good week ! Today, I'd like to take you on a little tour of our succulent nursery, where they've all developed quite well thanks to the hot weather and the good exposure they have facing the window in our corridor.

All the images shown here are mine and were taken with my Nikon D5500 camera equipped with a Sigma 17-70mm lens. I'm making a quick point of asking you if you'd have a fixed focal length above 80mm to recommend so that I can get a bit closer to the details... with better definition, it goes without saying :)

DSC_0008.JPG

The first of our candidates, and the one that perhaps most resembles an alien plant, is surely this one, Kalanchoe daigremontiana.

DSC_0066.JPG

DSC_0070.JPG

DSC_0010.JPG

It is also called "mil hijos" because the little seedlings that grow on its main leaves are miniature future plants. Once these have fallen, they take root and grow again.

DSC_0015.JPG

Here, a Crassula perforata which took a little time to get off the ground, but things now seem to be on the right track !

DSC_0011.JPG

DSC_0030.JPG

Firstly, I'm not sure, but it looks like a pursulane of the Portulaca family, but I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Secondly, it looks to me like a very young shoot of Crassula ovata.

DSC_0021.JPG

Another Kalanchoe daigremontiana, I'm still having a bit of trouble telling the difference between the varieties, but that hasn't stopped this one from growing and developing wonderfully !

DSC_0051.JPG

At the very top of our nursery, an undernourished cactus is bridging the gap between two pots and I suspect it will replant itself in the second pot... Experiment to follow...

But don't tell the plant section about the mistreatment either, we're still watering this specimen ^^ !

DSC_0035.JPG

DSC_0044.JPG

Here, on the first picture, a Spear Head, if I'm not mistaken, its name: Senecio kleiniiformis.

On the second, this one seems to be from the same family, but I'm not sure... I think it's a Senecio angulatus, but that remains to be confirmed :)

Voilà for this little visit to our succulent corner !

I hope you enjoyed the images in this article and thank you for your visit. I wish you a very good weekend, take good care of yourself and your loved ones,

Lovely selection… 👋🏻😊
Succulents can form strangely sometimes.
I have a love / hate relationship with them. Sometimes they do so well and other times… hhmmmm 🤓
Depends were I live too.
I had so many over the years… but a few country moves didn’t allow me to take plants.

I see what you're meaning... Sometimes you give them the best conditions and they wither away, and other times, in a tiny piece of dry land, wonders happen...

But yeah, plants and travel, this is quite incompatible !

Yes, exactly hehehe like that.

I had a monstera it was over 1.60m tall and I loved it. So we needed to move from Spain to Malta for work. I couldn’t move her. But… as it happens, somehow she knew… she got a pup just before the move. So I took this little baby monstera with me 🌱 in the plane… wrapped up well.
Put her in a pot when we arrived. It only had one leave.
So a year later we had to move out of Malta again as work stopped. And I took that little baby monstera 🌱 with me again, this time in a pot she had about 3 leaves now I believe. In the plane. We got a duty free bag… and I placed her in there !LOL
She was well traveled. And grew a lot after. Just the move to the UK I couldn’t take any of my plants…

It was cool it sure it hose trips…
Unfortunately not anymore as I couldn’t take any of my plants from Spain to the UK 😔 but I found good homes for all of them 😊

I love monsteras. Have a new one… and it already gave me 4 new babies… 3 I put in water and one in soil… so I have 5 now 🥰

Got also 2 new leafs 🌿
Can’t wait to have a jungle inside.
Have a great day 😘

Yep, now it’s right.

You are welcome.
I joined hubby in the UK today ✈️✈️✈️
We visit some friends and finalise some paperwork. So we can both close the UK chapter.
We drive with the car 🚗 over the 11th to Ireland via ferry… then we can import it too.
After a city break of 3 nights in Chester.
Will be fun. So most you know now 😋 not really a secret.

Thanks, take care too @anttn 😘

Oh no, so it's no a secret anymore ^^

Seems like you'll have a busy journey this time..! Hopefully there's that break you mentioned in Chester and it made me wonder how is this city... will probably discover some parts through your posts hehe 😉

Travel safely dear ✌️

Nope… it’s out there. But won’t tell where I for my explorations 😋🤓 until I post about them. Hehehe 🤭

Yep, lots to do actually. Next to enjoying… still paperwork to do. Soon it is done 🤓
Let’s hope those last 3 nights will be great. We drove through it last time when I moved and had dinner there.
When I saw the architecture and the things to see… oh I so wanted to spend some more days there.
And you are right… I will show it all. 😋
Thanks a lot, have a wonderful week my friend 😘

The kalanchoe is gonna breed like rabbits :D

I am glad your little perforata started to grow. It is an adorable plant!

Haha, they've barely grown at all and I can already see what the colony is going to look like in a little while !

Yes, I'm particularly happy about this one, there's a second one that's a bit bluish that's actually having more trouble... but I'm keeping my hopes up :)

Have a good weekend 🌱

Sometimes they need some time. I have one tiny one (crassula baby necklace) that I found cutting in a shop floor. Just a couple of leaves and it didn't do anything for months! Now I see it growing :)

Yep, I can see that now ! This is always interesting to follow their rhythms as some can grow incredibly after a long period of apparent 'nothing' !

Have a good day @ewkaw ✌️

I love mil hijos! I gave the babies as Christmas gifts last year to all of our friends! It was a super cheap gift - I just had to buy the little pots to put them in as the plant bore so many babies!

Super idea for a gift indeed !

So many clones of the same specimen... a bit like the bonds between each members of a family and friends :)

Have a lovely Sunday dear @apanamamama ✌️

I agree, it seems to be, but it will be simpler to recognize when it will grow a bit more...
