Beautiful colours of a September sunset
Beautiful Colours
I love the sky at dawn and at dusk. This one captures dusk here in Galway.
This is at the side of my house looking out over a Farmer's field.
The splash of white down the middle actually kind of looks like a tornado! 🌪
I especially like when reds are seen in the night sky.
Did you ever wonder why we see red skies at night?
A quick search tell me that we get red skies at night because when the Sun is low on the horizon, its light must travel through a much thicker layer of the atmosphere to reach our eyes. This long path scatters away the shorter, blue wavelengths of light, leaving the longer, red wavelengths to dominate the sky, which can be reflected by clouds or dust particles. In the Northern Hemisphere, a red sky at night often signals good weather coming from the west, while a red sky in the morning can indicate approaching storms from that same direction.
I always like to understand the science of things like this.
So much natural beauty surrounds every day in the habitual and the banal and we are often so absent minded or stressed that we completely miss it.
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone
Peace Out

It's the famous twilight! The one that says, in Octavio Paz's poem, “And the afternoon, the night, that stretches out.” Greetings, @ablaze
