It's More or Less the Best Curation Compilation.jpg

The Minimalist community presents It's More or Less the Best, a curation compilation highlighting some outstanding blogs published over the past week.

These selected authors shared their personal stories and views on different aspects of their minimalist lifestyle, giving some insight into what the style of living involves.

This compilation is presented to help shine the spotlight on the selected posts, with the hope that you will take a look at them in case you missed any.

Outstanding Minimalist Blogs in no particular order.

My bold step to happiness

✨"Three months after childbirth, I made a very neat cornrow which I carried for 3 weeks. On loosening the cornrows, I discovered my front hairlines were falling off. I couldn't comb the hair without applying leave-in conditioner to soften it and ease combing. After combing, the amount of hair that came out was quite much. At first, I thought it was the hairdresser's lack of competence, even though she has been my stylist for a while. I changed to another hairdresser just to confirm that it wasn't her fault, but it was getting even worse." @ginika

Fashion fades, style remains.

✨"I realised that it was a real waste of money to buy clothes for every special occasion, but also because I realised that it was not the clothes that made me stand out among others, but my posture, my behaviour. When I understood that, rather than worrying about wearing expensive or new pieces to a meeting, I started to focus on taking care of my personality, cultivating my intellect, my spirit." @nancybriti1

SOAP SAVVY

✨"I have learnt the hack of using my bath soap longer than usual after I noticed the main reason why it finishes quickly, and that’s because of the amount of wetness it is exposed to for a long time. Some people make use of a bath soap container to keep their bath soaps, but then the bath soap container is the kind of container that can easily retain water and that makes it even worse. " @hopestylist

Simple Living

✨"I left for service, and I was deployed to a much smaller state just like I knew would happen because that’s the style of deployment. I got to the state, made inquiries about securing an accommodation, and I found out that I would spend just 20% of what I would’ve used in the previous state to secure an accommodation there. And because I had some savings to cater for that, I got the apartment and still had a balance more than I thought." @storygoddess

Compulsive shopping as a form of "therapy"

✨"I must confess that some time ago I used to go shopping as a way to calm my thoughts, anxiety, or other emotional discomfort. It helped me distract myself, organise my thoughts, and then better deal with what I was feeling or even stop feeling it (I'm not saying that was the right thing to do), but it was an easy way to deal with what I was feeling." @jemima1996

Time and Again

✨" I could buy any quantity I wanted just because I set my eyes on it. I was short on money didn’t hinder my thirst for that snack back then. But now, it’s a different story. I treat myself to sausage rolls when necessary. If I find myself on my way to work, after leaving the house without breakfast, that’ll be my go-to snack. However, I’ve finally cut short impulsive spending when it comes to things I don’t need. " @oluchi31

The Days of Match-to-Match

✨"I have been living in this line of just two black shoes, and life has been fine, but sometimes I still see myself missing those days when I used to dress in match-to-match fashion. Whenever the thought comes, it makes me feel like I have been dressing in an old-fashioned way, because actually, the dressing style of this current era has to do with lots of “blings” to appear current." @kingsleyy

Minimalism: Trading Noise for Clarity

✨"I tend to feel frustrated in noisy places, especially when you have to exert all your energy just to push through the day. The honking of cars, the bus conductors shouting at the top of their voices just to alert the passengers, the rumbling of generators from left and right, even the constant chatter of people - all of these came together like a rushing tap that could not be turned off." @princessbusayo

The perfect order of things

✨"There is a Venezuelan story about a woman who is extremely stressed and unhappy and decides to commit suicide. The narrator's description of this character's house is evidence of what might be going on inside it: disorder, dirt, and accumulation of things. But at a certain point, the woman thinks that if she ends her life, photos will be taken of her and the house, which will appear in the city's newspapers, so she decides to tidy up the house and make herself look presentable. In the end, when she finished cleaning and tidying everything up, she sighed with contentment and went to sleep between clean sheets with a smile on her face." @nancybriti1

It is practical and simple 🥳☀️

✨"I would get frustrated because I had a piece of ice and had to wait to be able to drink water. For this reason, I no longer let it freeze completely. Sometimes I fill it halfway so that only that part freezes, and when I'm about to leave, I add water to the remaining space. That way, it stays cold longer. However, I usually just put it in the freezer to cool because, as I mentioned, I get very thirsty." @abisag

Some additional tips

🔸 The community encourages authors to engage and build rapport with other team members by leaving meaningful comments.

🔸 If possible we recommend that authors try to use original photos taken by you. Photos count toward the possibility of your post being curated.

🔸 The presentation of your blog goes a long way and sharing aspects of your lives and your personal stories and experiences should be a lot more than a list that can be found in various places over the web.

🔸 You do not need to wait or only blog in response to the prompts provided. You're free to share any aspect of your minimalist lifestyle at any time.
