The Police for Three Tune Tuesday, Week 89 [Esp/Eng]
Hola a todos, les saludo en este nuevo martes, en la edición número 89 de Three Tune Tuesday,, una estupenda iniciativa musical creada por el amigo @ablaze, en la cual podemos compartir cada martes, tres canciones que son valiosas para nosotros, que nos gustan, que nos hacen vibrar y nos traen estupendos recuerdos.
Hello everyone, I greet you on this new Tuesday, in the 89th edition of Three Tune Tuesday,, a wonderful musical initiative created by my friend @ablaze, in which we can share three songs every Tuesday that are valuable to us, that we like them, that make us vibrate and bring us wonderful memories.
Hoy tengo una visita muy especial, pues se trata de la banda británica THE POLICE, un grupo que creo que casi todo el planeta lo ha oído. A ellos los conocí en el año 1985 si mal no recuerdo, en las emisoras de mi ciudad, en las estaciones radiales de A.M. que siempre traían buena música, quizás algo tarde, pero siempre trataban de recopilar lo mejor de la producción musical de la grandiosa década de los 80’s.
Today I have a very special visitor, as it is the British band THE POLICE, a group that I think almost the entire planet has heard of. I met them in the year 1985 if I remember correctly, in the stations of my city, in the radio stations of A.M. that they always brought good music, perhaps a little late, but they always tried to compile the best of the musical production of the great decade of the 80's.
Si mal no recuerdo, la primera canción de The Police que oí, fue Every little thing she does is magic, y luego Every breath you take, y me gustaron mucho, sin embargo, yo andaba en una onda más adolescente, oyendo más punk, rock y pop, (quien no oyó pop en los 80’s, que lance la primera piedra, jajajaja), y si bien The Police tiene mucho de rock, reggae, jazz y algo de punk; puedo decir con total honestidad, que a ellos los relegué por un tiempo en mi “bodega” personal para madurar canciones. Luego, cuando fui creciendo un poco más, y saqué de mi “bodega” a esta banda, para oírla y degustarla como se hace con un buen licor, esa fue una de las mejores elecciones que he hecho a nivel musical, pues su “descubrimiento” me ha permitido disfrutar de canciones increíblemente buenas.
If I remember correctly, the first song by The Police I heard was Every little thing she does is magic, and then Every breath you take , and I liked them a lot, however, I was in a more adolescent vibe, listening to more punk, rock and pop, (who didn't hear pop in the 80's, cast the first stone, hahahaha), and although The Police has a lot of rock, reggae, jazz and some punk; I can honestly say that I relegated them for a while in my personal "warehouse" to mature songs. Later, when I was growing a little more, and I took this band out of my "warehouse", to listen to it and taste it as it is done with a good liquor, that was one of the best choices I have made on a musical level, because its "discovery ” has allowed me to enjoy incredibly good songs.
Bueno, hablemos ahora del CD que hoy les traje. Este también fue un regalo, (sí, recibí mucha música de regalo en mi vida, siempre ha sido así, he sido afortunada en ello), por lo que el ejercicio de arqueología moderna también queda descartado por hoy. Si observan en la foto, este álbum se titula The Police. Greatest Hits, y compila algunos de los grandes éxitos de la banda; quizás no todos, pero son 16 buenas canciones que nos pasean por su discografía. Este disco fue hecho en Colombia por Universal Music Colombia, bajo licencia del sello de A&M Records. Si bien su fecha de lanzamiento original fue en 1992, el que yo tengo es del año 1997, fue como una reedición en Latinoamérica. Más vale tarde que nunca, jajajajaja.
Well, let's talk now about the CD that I brought you today. This was also a gift (yes, I received a lot of music as a gift in my life, it has always been like that, I have been lucky in it), so the modern archeology exercise is also ruled out for today. If you look at the photo, this album is titled The Police. Greatest Hits, and compiles some of the band's greatest hits; maybe not all, but there are 16 good songs that take us through his discography. This album was made in Colombia by Universal Music Colombia, under license from the A&M Records label. Although its original release date was in 1992, the one I have is from 1997, it was like a reissue in Latin America. Better late than never, hahahaha.
Además de la música que contiene, de este disco me gusta mucho el plegable, que por un lado es el cancionero del disco, y por el otro trae un collage con muchas fotos de la banda, tomadas en diversas ocasiones. También el diseño gráfico de la superficie del compacto es bonita, con ese precioso azul y esas letras entre blancas y plateadas, buena combinación.
In addition to the music it contains, I really like the fold-out of this album, which on the one hand is the album's songbook, and on the other it brings a collage with many photos of the band, taken on various occasions. Also the graphic design of the surface of the compact is beautiful, with that beautiful blue and those letters between white and silver, a good combination.
Ahora vamos con mis canciones / Now let's go with my songs
Todas las canciones de este disco me gustan, así que seleccionar tres fue algo difícil, por lo que opté a las menos conocidas, o menos comerciales en estas latitudes en donde vivo, y creo que las tres están bien teñidas de reggae, ufff. Así que mi primera melodía de hoy es So lonely, que es el track número tres de este CD. Me encanta esta canción, de veras, esa batería y la guitarra suenan genial, y además la voz de un joven Sting, con ese tono rasgado, me fascina; también me encanta ese solo de guitarra bien cool que se lanza Andy Summers. Aquí les dejo parte de la letra y el video oficial, allí los tres están súper jóvenes, ¡bellos!
I like all the songs on this album, so choosing three was somewhat difficult, so I opted for the lesser known, or less commercial ones in these latitudes where I live, and I think all three are well tinged with reggae, ufff. So my first tune today is So lonely, which is track number three on this CD. I love this song, really, that drums and guitar sound great, and also the voice of a young Sting, with that torn tone, fascinates me; I also love that really cool guitar solo that Andy Summers launches into. Here I leave part of the lyrics and the official video, there the three are super young, handsome!
Mi segunda canción es Message in a bottle, y bueno, esta canción me gusta por razones muy obvias y por otras no tan obvias. Las razones obvias es que su música es genial: El bajo de Sting suena excelente, la guitarra de Andy Summers está más allá de bien; y la batería de Steward Copeland está sencillamente magnífica. Las voces además hacen una excelente armonía. Las razones o razón menos obvia por la cual me gusta, es que en ese tiempo (los 90’s), yo con mucha más frecuencia que hoy, me sentía como el protagonista de la canción, como un náufrago o como una isla en el mar. Afortunadamente ya no me siento así, jajajajajaja. También aquí les dejo un trozo de la canción y su video oficial, ¡que lo disfruten!
My second song is Message in a bottle, and well, I like this song for very obvious reasons and not so obvious ones. The obvious reasons are that their music is great: Sting's bass sounds excellent, Andy Summers' guitar is beyond good; and Steward Copeland's drumming is simply magnificent. The voices also make an excellent harmony. The reasons or less obvious reason why I like it, is that at that time (the 90's), much more often than today, I felt like the protagonist of the song, like a castaway or like an island in the sea. Luckily I don't feel like that anymore, hahahahahaha. Also here I leave a piece of the song and its official video, enjoy it!
Y la canción con la cual cierro #ttt de hoy, es “Every little thing she does is magic”, la cual fue la primera canción que oí en los 80’s de The Police, y que corresponde al surco 9 de este disco. Esta canción me gusta mucho, por su excelente música, bella letra, y porque me fue dedicada en su debido momento, (ya en los 90’s), así que es un bello recuerdo. Además me parece súper fresca, divertida y chévere. También les dejo el video oficial y una parte de la letra.
And the song with which I close today's #ttt is “Every little thing she does is magic”, which was the first song I heard in the 80's by The Police, and which corresponds to track 9 of this disc. I like this song a lot, because of its excellent music, beautiful lyrics, and because it was dedicated to me at the right time, (already in the 90's), so it is a beautiful memory. Hola @carminasalazarte, pues sí, todos los discos y cassettes que me han obsequiado a lo largo de mi existencia, los atesoro, aunque perdí gran parte de los discos de acetato l año pasado por un desafortunado evento, pero bueno, no hay modo.
De las canciones que sugieres, pues sí, Roxanne es una preciosa canción, también presente en este CD y Murder by Numbers, pues que te digo, muy especial, muy singular.

The Police are great and Sting seems a cool guy. I think like you, that all of this album is good and listenable. I think the last one is probably my favourite of the 3 you chose. I think he moved to New York and I really love his New York song:

Three absolute cracking tunes here and sure who does not like The Police! Such a great band and such a unique sound, I always like listening to these guys and I could not have done a better job of picking the songs, all absolute classics.
