Three "Soft Tunes" Tuesday With Enya's Music

I know so many know the artist Enya and her unique voice in her music but I'm happy to announce now that I didn't find Enya, her voice did. It started softly like a plaything, one song playing through my earphone, unfamiliar but so calming. I wasn't just listening, I was resting. Enya's music demands stillness and I so love it.

I went on an "Enya music search" last week because of one song I listened to and now, I have a whole playlist of just Enya's music. For the love of her music, I've decided to share three of her tunes every week until I exhaust the ones I have. “Only Time,” “One By One,” and “Wild Child.” are different in feeling but are undoubtedly so Enya.

"Only Time" - When Questions Are Allowed to Exist

This song was released in 2000 as part of the album "A Day Without Rain". I've heard this song a lot in the past but I guess maturity and intentionality has led me to understand the better that it's less of a song and more like a gentle question whispered into the universe. The song has no drama, just acceptance to life's questions.

The song actually feels like my permission to not know and the permission to let life unfold without forcing answers. It doesn’t comfort me by promising things will be okay. It comforts me in the words that says "It’s okay if you don’t know yet". You should listen to the song again even if you have before, learn to sit with uncertainties.

"One By One" - My Favorite, and the One That Stayed

This is the song that drew me to find more of Enya's music, a Tiktok video has been trending with this sound and I couldn't get enough of her voice in it. It became my favorite before I even realized it. It was also released in the year 2000 album. The rhythm of the song feels like a movement with no noise, no rush, and calming.

Considering my recent self development plans, this songs actually speaks more to me as it focuses on the personal growth that doesn't have to be grand. It reminds me that change doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it comes step by step, breath by breath, decision by decision. And with that, I plan to keep it at the pace for myself.

"Wild Child" - A Soft Rebellion

From the information I've read about the artist, Enya, I'm actually surprised by this particular song. Surprised in a positive way though. It's a song released in year 2001, same album but carries a different energy. Enya understands joy, curiosity and independence even with how mysterious and distant she is described to be.

"Wild Child" feels like freedom wrapped in calm. It’s playful in it's own quiet way, celebrating individuality without shouting about it. There’s confidence, not the loud kind, but the kind that comes from knowing who you are and choosing to be gentle anyway. It's one of my goals to achieve that confidence and I'm working on it.
