Turn Table Tunes

Long Live Long Playing Vinyl

Papers floating around my desk with music to soothe frayed nerves, phones calls or correspondence simply has to be cured with music in the background.

When the house is quiet I turn it into a home filled with music, great way to overcome daily jitters from those papers flying across the desk. Our lives are upside down with fake this and fake that making every headline, it's such a great way to shut out the cacophony of noise by simply turning it on and tuning in.

Kick off with a golden oldie, product a little before my time (I think) sent to me with brilliant reminders of a past, long lasting friendship about magic we shared.

Nat King Cole ~ Nature Boy

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far
Very far
Over land and sea

A little shy
And sad of eye
But very wise was he

And then one day
One magic day he passed my way
And while we spoken of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me

The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved in return

And then one day
One magic day he passed my way
And while we spoken of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me

The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return

Lyrics included to make sense for those who found it way before their time!

Blind Faith ~ Can't Find My Way Home

Come down off your throne
And leave your body alone
Somebody must change

Opening score lines for those who are interested this may be one to get into.

Supertramp ~ Even In The Quietest Moments

Even in the quietest moments
I wish I knew
What I had to do
And even though the sun is shining
Well I feel the rain -- here it comes again, dear

Tumble weeds that's what we are, gracefully moving (perhaps not so graceful) into a new season, always with good reason change happens no matter where we are.... Except the music, always memories, dreams, wishes or poetic delusion, intrudes ones mind.

Music in the background cures so much Joan.

Nat King Cole of course is a legend and Supertramp now I haven't heard them played in eons! Before my time really but they were cool.

I also love to listen to music! I mostly listen to rock. But I often listen to the music of my country of Ukraine. So I feel like at home ...
Music really reassures!

Listen to older local music as well, puts a smile on ones face. I listen to a large assortment and styles from over the years, it's fun.

Music is somewhat like clothes or shoes, you must choose wisely for the ocasion... why? Because it has the power to touch your inner soul without almost noticing.
You can watch a film but without the soundtrack it has a different more anodyne meaning. Poetry, sculpture, arquitecture and those ancient arts aren't as interesting without it... ancient grieks knew it perfectly, that's why they classified it according to its related mood...
As a student of the music grade and a lover since my very erly age, I've learnt that you can always trust it and it will help you also appreciate the healthy beauty of silence.
I could extend more but good things often come in small bottles...
Beautiful music suggestions Joan, love both of them. Have a nice day 🤗

Music is powerful in many ways, loved going to live ballet with full orchestra. Bands were aplenty when growing up, as you mention it is linked to occasions with memories, people or places.

I remember my mom having such an incredible collection of vinyls. I'm sure, If I know my mom who is a hoarder by sentimental nature, that they are in storage or somewhere in my garage. She was particular obsessed with The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, and Simon and Garfunkel, and The Beetles.

Later on, long after cassettes and CDs took over, I had a boyfriend with an incredible collection of the birth of Rock and Metal who taught me everything I know about Queen, ACDC, Metallica, Motorhead, And Ozzy Osborne/ Black Sabbath, ZZ Top and so many more. I remember listening to many vinyls for the duration of our tumultuous relationship.

I am proud to say I even know how to work a turn table :p funnily enough, you just unearthed a memory of my father, teaching me how to place the needle and how to avoid scratches.
